Manitoba adds another gold medal at Canada Summer Games

(Team Manitoba) A Manitoba cyclist made it to the top of the podium at the Canada Summer Games. Soren Westlake won the gold medal in the cross-country men's mountain bike race on Wednesday, giving him his second medal of the games. He previously won a bronze medal in the men's road cycle time trials on Aug. 11. With Westlake's victory, Manitoba has now won 18 total medals, (seven gold, six silver and five bronze), at the event, putting them in sixth place among the provinces competing in St. John's, N.L. As of Thursday morning, Quebec led the medal count, followed by Ontario and British Columbia. Manitoba athletes compete in several sports Thursday, including baseball, box lacrosse, artistic swimming, diving, golf, soccer, softball, volleyball and wrestling. The games wrap up on Aug. 25.
