State Immigration director Nur Zulfa Ibrahim said the operation was conducted on the second floor of the Komtar complex here and the first floor of the Penang Sentral Bus Terminal in Butterworth.
'A total of 226 foreigners were inspected during the operation, and we arrested 41 men and 20 women, aged 20 to 50, for various offences under the Immigration Act.

IPOH, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) detained two trawl boats and seized assets and marine catch worth RM80,000 about 5.2 nautical miles west of the Kuala Kurau estuary last Friday. Kuala Kurau Maritime Zone director, Maritime Commander Mohd Hairil Othman, said the vessels were intercepted at 2 am for operating outside permitted hours, using excessive net weights and not being personally manned by their registered owners. He said the seizures were taken to the Kuala Kurau Maritime Zone jetty and handed to investigating officers for further action.

Crime analyst Datuk Shahul Hamid Abdul Rahim urged the public to verify with the relevant authorities whenever in doubt about individuals posing as high-profile figures, officials or representatives of certain agencies in an attempt to deceive victims. "They (scammers) do not care whether their target is old or young, but focus on the circumstances and personal data they have gathered. Armed with this information, they can tailor their conversations to suit the situation, making it possible for even educated individuals to be deceived. "Do not be quick to believe or panic if you receive a call or come across a job advertisement on any platform. The online world is not always safe, so verify first before taking any action,' he told Bernama recently. "Keep your knowledge up to date, do not hesitate to ask questions, and report anything suspicious, because digital safety is not just an individual responsibility but a shared duty for all Malaysians,' he added. Meanwhile, Alliance for a Safe Community chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, who also voiced his support for the campaign, said continuous education across all levels of society is essential to help people avoid falling victim to such crimes. Bukit Aman to question three senior Sabah cops

Kuala Lumpur: A team from the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) will soon travel to Sabah to record statements from three senior police officers involved in the preliminary investigation into the death of Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir. Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the department has opened a disciplinary investigation paper (KST) against the district police chief, holding the rank of Superintendent; the district criminal investigation division chief, with the rank of ASP; and an investigating officer, with the rank of Inspector. They are suspected of non-compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the investigation into the case. 'The Bukit Aman JIPS officers will travel there within a day or two to record statements from these three officers. The investigation concerns non-compliance with SOPs in the Zara Qairina case and the supervision of investigating officers,' he said. He said this to reporters after the launch of the book "Antologi Puisi Makan Suap" at the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, Friday night.
