A 21-day challenge in Mylapore
Over the next three to four weeks, Mylapore residents have something to busy themselves with.
EcoKonnectors Trust and Bisleri Bottles For Change are launching what they call 'Recycle to Revive Mylai — 21 Day Challenge'.
Set to kick off this World Environment Day (June 5, 2025), the Challenge seeks to promote good waste-management behaviours among apartments and residents' grouops of the locality. If they practised segregation and recycling for 21 days, the habit with stay with them — that is the rationale behind the Challenge.
According to a press release, participants have to segregate waste and keep aside plastics (any type of bottles, covers and wrappers among others). Bisleri Bottles for Change will provide participating apartments with a one tonne bag with standie. The plastic items should be cleaned and stored at their premises in the bag provided, the release says
The plastic collection drive will be organised on the 10th and 21st day of the Challenge by Bisleri Bottles for Change.
Twenty-one days of this practice will bring about a behavioural change, which includes segregating waste and sending recylacble waste to the collection drives, and this environment friendly habit will stay with them forever.
Together we can save tons of plastics ending into the landfills and sent for recycling.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Centre's Aravalli Green Wall project, on June 5 to mark World Environment Day, to combat desertification and restore degraded land across four states, Environment Ministry sources said Tuesday. India has also committed to restoring 26 million hectares of degraded land by 2030. Extending from southwest Gujarat in Champaner to northeast Delhi and Haryana, the 700-km long Aravalli mountain range acts as a natural barrier against incursion of sand and dust from the Thar desert. It supports rivers such as Luni, Banas, Sabarmati among others, as well as keystone wildlife such as tiger, bears, wolves and leopards. However, the range is facing widespread degradation due to deforestation, mining, urbanisation, agriculture practices and development.

PM Modi to launch 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2025' campaign on World Environment Day
New Delhi [India], June 3 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2025' campaign by planting trees at Mahavir Jayanti Park on June 5, World Environment Day. On this occasion, the Chief Ministers of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Gujarat will join this campaign from their states. Government sources told ANI that the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign has become a mass public campaign, and according to the Environment Ministry, 109 crore trees have been planted so far. The sources further told ANI that this is an emotional campaign which was started by the Prime Minister on June 5, 2024, and once again taking this campaign forward, the Prime Minister is going to launch 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2025' and the Aravalli Green Wall Project on World Environment Day. The 700 km range of the Aravalli is included in four states: Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Haryana. It includes 29 districts, four tiger reserves, and 22 wildlife sanctuaries. The Aravalli Green Wall Project is an initiative to combat land degradation and desertification by creating a green buffer zone along the Aravalli mountain range in India. This project aims to restore degraded ecosystems, enhance groundwater recharge, and promote sustainable land use practices. (ANI)

BJP to launch campaign to highlight Modi govt's achievements in 11 years
Prayagraj: The district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a special campaign -Sankalp Se Siddhi Tak (from resolution to accomplishment) from June 5 to mark the completion of 11 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led-govt at the Centre. "Before the commencement of the campaign, a district-level workshop will be organised, and on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, a series of tree plantation programmes will be organised under the 'Ek Vriksha Maa Ke Naam' initiative." Besides, the Vikasit Bharat Sankalp Sabha will be organised at the district and divisional levels from June 11 to 21 regarding the achievements of the Modi govt. Mohalla Chaupal will be organised in the urban areas while Gram Panchayat Chaupal will be held at village and block levels.
