Muscat - Oneworld on Monday welcomed Oman Air as its 15th member airline. As the flag carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, Oman Air strengthens the alliance's presence across the Middle East and unlocks new opportunities for global travel.
"We are proud to welcome Oman Air to the oneworld family," said Nat Pieper, CEO of oneworld. "Oman Air brings valuable strategic reach and award-winning product and service to the alliance. This partnership opens up exciting new connections for our customers, particularly across the Gulf and South Asia, and reinforces oneworld's position as the premium alliance for international travellers."
Effective July 1, Oneworld customers can access an extended network of destinations across Oman Air's growing global schedule, including the launch of a new non-stop Muscat–Amsterdam service.
As a full oneworld member airline, Oman Air will provide oneworld Emerald, Sapphire, and Ruby customers with benefits including earning and redeeming miles, earning status points, priority check-in and boarding, and lounge access. Likewise, Oman Air's top-tier customers will gain access to oneworld priority benefits, including a network of nearly 700 premium airport lounges globally, as well as newly opened oneworld-branded lounges in Amsterdam's Schiphol and Seoul's Incheon Airports.

Muscat – Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED) has announced the opening of applications for the 2025 edition of its Artisan Support Service, reaffirming its commitment to empowering local artisans and enhancing visibility of Omani handicrafts both locally and internationally. The programme is part of ASMED's ongoing strategy to improve quality and competitiveness of traditional craft products, while offering comprehensive support to artisans and craft enterprises across the sultanate. The programme provides a tailored assistance package encompassing financial aid, technical support and marketing guidance. Through this approach, ASMED aims to help artisans upgrade their production environments, improve the quality of products and foster sustainable business growth. To be eligible, applicants must be Omani nationals and possess a valid home-business licence. In addition, applicants must not have received financial support from ASMED in the last two years. Applications can be submitted at with the deadline set for July 3.

OCCI's franchise programme to take 25 Omani brands global

Muscat – Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) has launched the fourth edition of its Franchise Programme aimed at assisting 25 Omani brands through training, consultancy and field support. The programme is part of the chamber's wider strategy to develop national brands and enhance their competitiveness in local and international markets. Speaking at the launch, Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of OCCI, said the programme focuses on building sustainable business models based on global best practices. 'This programme underscores our commitment to enhancing the value of Omani products and creating a supportive environment for business growth and international competitiveness,' he stated. Rawas urged local business owners to take advantage of programme, which he described as a key opportunity for companies seeking to scale and enter the international franchise ecosystem. Humood bin Salim al Saadi, Second Deputy Chairman of OCCI and Head of Central Franchise Committee, said the programme responds to growing demand for scalable and innovative business models. He noted that selected brands will receive targeted guidance to support their transition into franchising. In a move to enhance regional collaboration, OCCI signed a memorandum of cooperation with Federation of Saudi Chambers during the launch event. As part of the agreement, the first Oman-Saudi Franchise Exhibition will be held from September 29 to October 2, 2025. The event aims to create a platform for investment, promote Omani and Saudi brands, and encourage cross-border partnerships. OCCI also signed a memorandum of understanding with UAE Association of Franchise & Trademarks (TAGMOA) for collaborations in exhibitions, conferences, training, marketing and knowledge exchange. The agreements are expected to strengthen Oman's franchise sector and expand the presence of Omani brands in regional and global markets.
