A27 works to finish early after weeks of delays in Sussex
All lanes of the A27 near Brighton are set to fully reopen on Saturday following weeks of roadworks, delays and disruption since April. National Highways had estimated a completion date of 6 June for works repairing drainage and barriers on a stretch of road between the A23 at Patcham and the Hollingbury exit.The agency now says it will complete the works ahead of schedule, with a final one-lane closure between 20:00 BST on Friday and 06:00 on Saturday.Drivers previously told BBC Radio Sussex it could take them up to an hour to travel a mile on the stretch of road, where both eastbound and westbound lanes have been closed.
A National Highways spokesperson added: "By working both day and night shifts we have been able to reduce the duration of the work and are now due to finish earlier than originally planned." Temporary barriers on the section of the A27 were removed overnight in time for Wednesday's rush hour.
Meanwhile, temporary traffic lights on the A27 in Worthing are predicted to cause delays until Friday when work is completed.

From the iconic front strip and pop-up headlights, to the tiny five-spoke alloys and protruding quad-exhaust pipes, it's got serious presence. Beneath the long, sweeping bonnet sits a 4.4-litre 'Colombo' V12 mated to a five-speed manual transmission, sending 347bhp and 318lb ft to the rear wheels. 0-62mph is sorted in five-and-a-bit seconds. Mighty outputs, even by today's standards. Then there's the $2m Spider, which is arguably even more gorgeous than the Berlinetta. And considerably rarer, since production amounted to just... 121 units. This one gets wire-spoked 'Borrani' alloys and a colour-matched front strip, and is believed to be one of only six Spiders to get a lick of 'Rosso Dino' paint complete with beige upholstery. It's also the last convertible Ferrari to use that famous Colombo engine. The trio concludes with the race-bred Prancing Horse: a Series III 'Competizione'. 15 were factory-built, and the one in question DNF'd at Le Mans in '74, but went on to win the GT Class at the Daytona 24 Hours the following year. There's pedigree, alright. Advertisement - Page continues below Changes over the standard Berlinetta include a front lip with vertical fins to boost aero, wider rear wheel arches and lighter body panels made of steel. Mechanically, there's an improved compression ratio and sharper timing, billeted steel pistons and connecting rods, plus revised exhaust manifolds. There's also four fuel pumps as opposed to two, and air ducts fitted ahead of the thicker stoppers for better cooling. That V12 also gets a hefty power bump to 450bhp, so it should be a good laugh on the various global classical events you can enter it into. Dartmoor drivers warned of accident hotspot after crash
A fire chief has warned drivers to be aware of an accident hotspot on Dartmoor after three people were injured when the car they were in Fire Station crew manager Chris Stanton said drivers should take the "very sharp corner gently " at the Spitchwick junction in the said a car had come off the road and plunged 60ft (18m) down a wooded cliff face before coming to rest on the edge of the River Dart on Friday driver and two passengers suffered minor injuries and Mr Stanton said they had been "very lucky to have survived" as there had been accidents at the spot in the past in which "the outcomes had been worse". Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Ashburton, Bovey Tracey and Buckfastleigh fire stations had attended the scene at about 22.30 Stanton said it had been "tricky" for firefighters to get down to the they had to stabilise the car to make it safe before they could get in to the car and get the casualties out. He said the driver and two passengers had been taken to hospital with injuries including cuts, bruises, a head injury and a back injury.

Appeal after woman seriously injured in crash near Ponsanooth
A woman remains in hospital after being seriously injured in a crash in Cornwall, police have said. Devon and Cornwall Police said three other people involved in the two-vehicle collision, on the A393 between Lanner and Ponsanooth, also had minor were called to the collision which involved a silver Toyota and blue Hyundai on Saturday at about 14:00 BST."The driver of one of the vehicles, a woman from the Falmouth area was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske where she was treated for serious injuries and remains in hospital," police said. A road closure was in place for investigation work and was handed over to the highways at about 16:40, police added. Police are asking anyone with any relevant information or dash-cam footage to contact them.
