The player in question? Clément Lenglet.

Stopper Lenglet of course spent this past season out on loan away from Barcelona.
After quickly being deemed surplus to requirements by incoming Blaugrana head coach Hansi Flick, the former Sevilla man linked up with Diego Simeone's Atlético Madrid for the duration of the campaign.
And Lenglet went on to rediscover some of his very best form at the Metropolitano, en route to three goals and two assists across 34 appearances in all competitions.
As much culminated in a recall to the France national team for the country's Nations League semi-final meeting with Spain this evening.
It nevertheless came as a surprise, though, when Lenglet was thrown straight back in at the deep end by boss Didier Deschamps.

Barcelona turn down Chelsea's Nkunku-Lopez swap deal

Barcelona have rejected a potential swap deal with Chelsea involving Christopher Nkunku and Fermin Lopez, according to Mundo Deportivo. Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca admires Lopez and wants him at Stamford Bridge, but Barca are not interested in an exchange deal for their La Masia graduate. Advertisement Lopez caught the eye this season, coming on from the bench to provide creativity and energy. The Spanish attacking midfielder also has a keen eye for goal. Lopez bagged eight goals and 10 assists in 46 appearances for the Catalans as they clinched the domestic treble and reached the UEFA Champions League semi-final. His performances have caught the eye of Chelsea, but Barca are not willing to part with their prized asset, especially if the offer on the table is taking Nkunku. The Frenchman has endured two injury-riddled campaigns in West London and is keen to move away. Nkunku managed 14 goals and five assists, but the consensus is that it was an underwhelming season. Advertisement Barca are too focused on signing Luis Diaz, and except Lopez asks for a move away, they will not be at the negotiating table with Chelsea. Chelsea should not be afraid to cough up the funds for Lopez – View Firstly, Lopez brings one quality Chelsea desperately need – intensity. He is a vivacious attacker who executes his actions with quickness and works hard off the ball. Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez are quality in the Chelsea engine room, but they play at their own pace. Lopez injects electricity into matches. Additionally, he can cover several positions, and the Blues need that versatility when they eventually sell Nkunku. Advertisement He can provide the same cutting edge in attack and does not rest on his laurels defensively. If Chelsea can get Lopez at a fair price, he would be a steal. However, Barcelona will likely demand a massive fee to part ways with the 22-year-old, who is a stud.

French Open Makes Coco Gauff Announcement on Wednesday

French Open Makes Coco Gauff Announcement on Wednesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Women's World No. 2 Coco Gauff continues to thrive at the French Open, and on Wednesday, she made a bit of history. Advertisement Gauff reached the Roland-Garros semifinals for a second straight year after beating another top-10 player, Madison Keys, in the quarterfinals. It wasn't an easy victory for Gauff, who lost the first set before roaring back to win the next two, 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-1. The American tennis sensation also got a bit of a scare in the second set when Keys made a three-game run and erased her 4-1 lead to even things at 4-4, per WTA. Fortunately, it was all Gauff after that, with the 21-year-old dominating and winning eight of the next nine games to end the match in two hours and 11 minutes. According to Roland-Garros, she is the "youngest player" to do it since 2000. Advertisement "The youngest player to claim 25 Roland-Garros wins since Martina Hingis in 2000," Roland-Garros wrote on Instagram, along with a photo of Gauff celebrating. Hingis achieved the same feat when she was 19 years old. It will definitely be interesting to see if Coco Gauff can continue her winning run at the French Open. She's up against Lois Boisson in the semifinals, and while the French international is a wildcard entry, she has beaten top-6 players Jessica Pegula and Mirra Andreeva. Gauff has yet to win the French Open, with her best performance in the clay Grand Slam coming in 2022, when she finished as the runner-up.
