IRCTC launches 14-day Bharat-Bhutan Mystic Mountain Tour from June 28; all key details

he Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced the launch of the 'Bharat-Bhutan Mystic Mountain Tour', a 14-day journey commencing on June 28, 2025.
This tour will offer travellers an opportunity to explore the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Northeast India and Bhutan.
Tour itinerary
Departure: The tour begins from Delhi's Safdarjung Railway Station with a train journey to Guwahati, Assam.
Guwahati: Upon arrival, travellers will get to visit the Kamakhya Temple, situated atop the Nilachal Hills. From here, they will continue by road till Shillong.
Shillong: En route to this place, travellers will halt at Umiam Lake, which is famed for its scenic beauty.
In Shillong, the itinerary is further complemented with visits to the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, Ward's Lake, and the Don Bosco Museum.

Cherrapunji: After that, there will be a full-day trip to Cherrapunji, which includes stops at the Mawsmai Caves, Nohkalikai Falls, and the Seven Sisters Falls. Elephant Falls in Shillong is visited on the way back.
Bhutan: After Meghalaya, the tour proceeds to Hasimara Railway Station in West Bengal, the nearest railhead to Bhutan.

Travellers will cross into Bhutan via Phuentsholing after completing immigration formalities.
Thimphu: The Bhutan segment starts in Thimphu, the capital city. Notable stops include Buddha Point, featuring a towering statue of Shakyamuni Buddha; the Motithang Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan's national animal; the National Library; and the Thimphu Handicraft Market. The day ends with a visit to the Tashi Chho Dzong, a religious and administrative fortress.
Punakha
: En route to Punakha, a stop at Dochula Pass is included, followed by a visit to the Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers.
Paro
: The last stop is Paro, where guests can see the National Museum, Tamchog Lhakhang Iron
Bridge, Paro Dzong, the base of Tiger's Nest Monastery, and Lamperi Royal Botanical Park. A cultural performance and a traditional hot stone bath are also included in the tour.

Australian travellers heading to Maldives warned of terror threat, 'civil unrest'
Australia has issued a fresh advisory for all its nationals who are planning to travel to Maldives asking them to remain on high alert. The Smartraveller website of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade raised its advisory for the popular tourism spot to Level 2 asking them to exercise a high degree of caution. The advice cited the risk of 'civil unrest and the ongoing threat of terrorism'. The Smartraveller website has placed Maldives in the list of 76 countries including India, UK, France, Mexico, Cyprus, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, and Kenya as these destinations have witnessed a rise in security risks. Aadhaar link mandatory for booking tatkal train tickets
Mumbai: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has made it mandatory for users to link their Aadhaar numbers with their login IDs to book train tickets under the tatkal quota. The move, being implemented since this week, is aimed at preventing touts from booking multiple tatkal tickets and ensuring that genuine passengers get first priority in tatkal ticketing, said IRCTC officials. Currently, the IRCTC platform has over 130 million active users, of which only 12 million accounts are Aadhaar-verified. Around 225,000 tatkal tickets are booked daily via the online platform, with 66.4% of tickets being sold within the first 10 minutes of the commencement of tatkal booking. Around 84.02% tatkal tickets are sold within the first hour of commencement of tatkal bookings, while 12% tatkal tickets are booked 8-10 hours after the window opens. IRCTC officials said Aadhaar-verified users will get priority access to tatkal tickets, especially during the crucial first 10 minutes. 'Even authorised IRCTC agents will not be able to book tatkal tickets during this initial phase even if they have multiple user IDs and emails,' an IRTC official told Hindustan Times. Aadhaar-based one-time passwords would also be required for booking tatkal tickets, the official said. 'In future, Aadhaar verification will be mandatory for booking tatkal tickets over the counter as well,' the official mentioned. Meanwhile, the IRCTC has launched a campaign against the use of AI tools to book tickets online, said another IRCTC official. 'We have deactivated and blocked over 24 million users in the past six months while another 2 million users have been flagged as suspicious and are under investigation based on their Aadhaar and other documents,' the official said.
