N.S. RCMP asks public for information after shots fired in East Preston

Halifax police are seeking information from the public after shots were fired in East Preston Monday.
RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a report of shots fired in the 200 block of Brooks Drive around 9:40 p.m.
Police say their initial investigation indicates gun fire was exchanged by people in two vehicles travelling east.
No injuries have been reported.
Brooks Drive was closed for several hours as officers gathered evidence. Police say they do not have a description of the vehicles involved at this time.
The investigation is ongoing. The RCMP asks anyone with information about the incident to contact police at 902-490-5020 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit was patrolling when they saw a known male offender driving a Hyundai Venue on Tuesday. Officers stopped him after finding that he did not have a driver's licence. Mounties found about 27 grams of fentanyl and approximately 53 grams of methamphetamine as well as other items consistent with drug trafficking in the vehicle. RCMP charged a 22-year-old Mackwacis man with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. The man is to appear in Wetaskiwin court on Thursday. Another individual who was in the vehicle has two charges pending for possession for the purpose of trafficking.
