Henry County elementary teacher fired after simple battery arrest
Henry County police have charged Linda Sturdivant with seven counts of simple battery. In a statement to Channel 2 Action News, Henry County School District confirmed that Sturdivant has been fired.
'Upon learning of allegations of inappropriate behavior, investigations were initiated by the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, Henry County Police Department, Henry County Schools, and Stockbridge Elementary School. The teacher is no longer employed by Henry County Schools. The safety and security of our students and staff is our utmost priority,' the district said.
Channel 2 Action News has requested the warrants for Sturdivant's arrest.

Police investigate shooting at DeKalb County gas station
DeKalb County police are investigating a shooting at a gas station. The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. along Stone Mill Way near Tucker. NewsChopper 2 flew over the scene during Channel 2 Action News at 4 p.m. and showed several police cars at the gas station, and had the gas pumps roped off by police tape. Charges dropped against man accused of trying to kidnap child at Walmart
Charges have been dropped against a man accused of trying to kidnap a child at a Walmart in Acworth. Mahendra Patel appeared in Cobb County Superior Court on Wednesday. The Cobb County District Attorney's Office announced it will no longer move forward with prosecuting his case. Acworth police arrested Patel after Caroline Miller said she stopped him from kidnapping her 2-year-old son inside Walmart. She said Patel asked her for help finding the Tylenol. When she pointed to it, she said he grabbed her 2-year-old son out of her hands. Patel and his attorney, Ashleigh Merchant, have maintained his innocence. They said he only reached for the boy because he thought he was going to fall off a motorized scooter that his mother was using. Former deputy sentenced to 16 months in prison for 2022 beating of inmate in Camden County Jail
A former Camden County Sheriff's Office deputy sheriff and jail corporal has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for assaulting a pretrial detainee in 2022. Ryan Robert Biegel, now 27, of Kingsland, Georgia, pleaded guilty on Jan. 28 to using unreasonable force against the detainee, according to a news release from the Department of Justice. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< Action News Jax first told you in November 2022 about the release of a video showing the September 2022 beating of Jarrett Hobbs from Greensboro, North Carolina, in the Camden County Jail. The DOJ said the incident occurred on September 3, 2022, when Biegel and two other correctional officers entered the holding cell where Hobbs was detained. [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks] We also told you in November 2022 when Biegel, Mason Garrick, and Braxton Massey were charged with battery of an inmate and violating the oath of office. In May 2023, the three men were indicted by a grand jury in Camden County. The DOJ said Biegel admitted to punching Hobbs five times in the back of the head, acknowledging that it was not reasonable or necessary for a legitimate law enforcement purpose. Biegel further struck Hobbs in the head and body an additional twenty-two times with his fists and knees, the DOJ said. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer J. Kirkland for the Southern District of Georgia and Trial Attorney Alec Ward of the Civil Rights Division's Criminal Section prosecuted the case. Action News Jax has reached out to the Camden County Sheriff's Office and Hobbs' attorney Harry Daniels for comment on the sentencing.
