A mum says her child has been left heartbroken after he was invited to a birthday party. Only to be uninvited.
Sarah shared her story on TikTok, revealing she 'honestly cannot believe' she even had to make the video in the first place.
'Put a finger down if one of your children got invited to a party, you text one of the parents on the invitation,' she begins.
'Bearing in mind it was a couple of weeks later because I'm crap at texting people to thank them for the invite.'

"The parent lied"
She explained how excited her son had been about the party and getting to spend time with his classmates outside of school.
Only, the mother hosting the party responded with a text Sarah hadn't anticipated.
'They respond and say the party has now been cancelled,' she recounted.
But that doesn't appear to have been true.
'This said party took place yesterday. All of my child's friends were texting him saying, 'Why aren't you at the party?' 'How come you're not here?' 'We wanna see you,'' she explained.
Sarah and her son were hit with a cruel realisation. The party had gone ahead.
'The parent lied. Lied and said the party was cancelled,' she said.
'Why invite my child to a party if you're gonna pretend it's not on anymore? I just don't understand.'

"This is on you."
As a result, her son was left feeling excluded and confused.
'They all go to the same school. What did you think was going to happen? My child was actually really upset yesterday and I think it's disgusting behaviour,' Sarah shared.
The comment section was divided.
Some sided with the host parent, arguing Sarah should have responded and RSVP'd sooner.
'Should have replied earlier. It's so annoying when parents don't text back for numbers and parents have to pay according to numbers. They probably meant your invite is cancelled because you didn't reply,' one commenter suggested.
Another agreed: 'You replied weeks late. Maybe they felt bad saying they can no longer come so just said it's cancelled.'
'To be honest this is on you. It's infuriating that parents do not respond for weeks," a third added.

However, others were quick to call the move cruel.
'Vileeeeeee! I'd [have] turned up at the party,' one parent said.
'That's not fair, like your son was never going to find out. People just need to be open and honest,' a second pointed out.
One commenter even suggested confronting the mum directly: 'I would have had to text the mum and ask why she lied. I wouldn't be able to help myself."

Barack and Michelle Obama had major parenting disagreement
Michelle Obama and her husband, Barack, hugely disagreed on using a controversial sleep training technique when Sasha and Malia were babies. The former First Lady reflected on their use of the Ferber Method in a conversation with social psychologist Jonathan Haidt on Wednesday's episode of her IMO podcast. The practice, invented by physician Richard Ferber, involves allowing a child to cry for predetermined intervals of time before receiving external comfort, Page Six reported. Haidt was discussing how he 'ferberized' his son when Michelle admitted that she and Barack 'did the same thing' despite initially not seeing eye-to-eye on the approach. 'I didn't want to do it,' Michelle said. 'Barack did it and I don't know that I could have done it because I wasn't sure about it — the notion that you just let the little person that you love cry and cry.' Michelle, 61, said that she 'couldn't even' deal with the thought of letting her kids cry — theorising that it may have had something to do with her oestrogen levels post-partum. 'We set it up where Barack took the night shift. I went to bed, which was helpful because it got me some sleep,' she said. Michelle said she would 'literally' cover her ears so she wouldn't hear her daughters crying at night. 'It took no longer than a week [for the method to work] and it was really after the first two nights, because we started early,' Michelle admitted. They had turned to Ferberization after weaning one of her daughters off of breastfeeding at about four or five months old, she explained. Michelle and the 63-year-old politician, who tied the knot in 1992, welcomed Malia, 26, and Sasha, 24, in 1998 and 2001, respectively.

Second overall pick overshadowed as mum steals the show at NBA Draft
Dylan Harper's mum, Maria, stole the show on Thursday (AEST). After the former Rutgers star was selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, social media was set ablaze as Maria Harper stunned and charmed fans who saw her join Dylan and his older brother, Ron Jr., alongside ESPN's Monica McNutt for the post-selection interview, the NY Post reports. Something that may have also surprised viewers was the fact that Harper's mum joined him for the interview, while his five-time NBA champion father, Ron Harper, stayed in the crowd. But the newest Spur said that his mother actually pushed him harder in basketball and that she even coached him from first grade to his senior year of high school, which was special for both of them. 'We're playing the sport we love. They're playing it, I'm coaching it. It's a family affair, and that's how pure it is in our family,' Maria told Jersey Sports Zone in April 2023. Maria, who is Filipino, immigrated to the United States at the age of 7 and grew up in Paterson, N.J. She and Ron met in 1998 and welcomed Ron Jr. in 2000. The two were then married in 2005, and Dylan was born one year later. Maria and Ron later divorced in 2012. Maria had nothing but praise for her son in his special moment on Thursday. 'His flat out love for the game, his determination, his humility and just his hard work day in and day out,' she noted as reasons he was able to make it this far. Family was a consistent theme for Harper while he addressed the media before the draft, and he consistently came back to praising his mum. 'My mom always tells me, 'Keep the main thing the main thing,'' Harper said. 'Basically like, 'Go worry about basketball, we can take care of the rest.' That's really stuck with me just because it allows me to work on my craft and work on the things that really matter – which is playing the game I love every day.' It's not the first time a draft pick's mum has stolen the show with Aussie Dyson Daniels being overshadowed in 2022 by his mother Brikkita.
