NIA charges 17 in 2024 CRPF camp attack case
New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday said that members of the
People's Liberation Guerrilla Army
(PLGA) battalion number 1 - earlier led by top Maoist commander
Madvi Hidma
- had set up a dummy training camp replicating a CRPF installation before launching an attack in Chhattisgarh in January 2024.
According to the NIA chargesheet filed on Friday, the accused were in possession of prohibited arms, ammunition, and explosives, held conspiracy meetings, and conducted reconnaissance of the camps before carrying out the strikes.
"They created a replica of the target CRPF camp for training and gave motivational speeches to armed cadres to incite rebellion," the agency said.
The NIA has chargesheeted 17 accused - including 16 absconders - for the January 16, 2024, attacks on CRPF and CoBRA camps in Bijapur district. One accused, identified as Sodi Baman alias Deval, has been arrested. The absconders include two Central Committee Members (CCMs), two Special Zonal/State Committee Members, and other senior cadres of the battalion once headed by Hidma.
The charges have been filed under sections of the IPC, Arms Act, Explosive Substances Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

In a major operation in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district, police on Saturday said four armed Naxalites - one male and three females - were killed in an encounter. Their identities are yet to be confirmed. Weapons were recovered from the site, and the operation is still underway, officials said. "This marks the highest number of Naxalites killed in a single year in MP," said DGP Kailash Makwana.

NIA chargesheets 3 in Punjab Police post attack with links to Khalistani terrorists
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday filed a chargesheet against three individuals in connection with the December 2024 grenade attack on a police post in Punjab's SBS Nagar district. The chargesheet names Yugpreet Singh, Jaskaran Singh and Harjot Singh, all residents of Rahon case was linked to a larger conspiracy by the banned terror outfit Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF). The trio were charged under several provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosive Substances Act, and related NIA further expanded its probe to include KZF chief Ranjit Singh, designated as an individual terrorist, Jagjit Singh Lahiri (alias Jagga), currently residing in the UK, and other unidentified terror operatives. The agency alleges that Jagga radicalised Yugpreet Singh in the UK and facilitated over Rs 4.36 lakh in terror funds via Canada-based later recruited the other two accused and orchestrated the attack at the police post arson during the nights of December 1 and 2, 2024. NIA chargesheets 3 in Punjab police post grenade attack, links it to Khalistan Zindabad Force
In a significant breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on terror networks, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Saturday filed a chargesheet against three people in connection with the grenade attack at a police post in Punjab's SBS Nagar district in December 2024. The attack has been linked to a wider conspiracy orchestrated by the banned Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terror outfit. The accused, Yugpreet Singh alias Yuvi Nihung, Jaskaran Singh alias Shah, and Harjot Singh alias Jot Hundal, all residents of Rahon village in SBS Nagar, have been booked under multiple sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosive Substances Act, and other relevant laws. As part of a broader investigation, the NIA has also initiated proceedings against KZF chief and designated individual terrorist (DIT) Ranjit Singh alias Neeta, along with operative Jagjit Singh Lahiri alias Jagga, Jagga Miapur, Hari Singh, who is currently based in the United Kingdom, and other unidentified foreign-based handlers. The NIA, which took over the probe from Punjab Police in March, uncovered that Jagga allegedly recruited Yugpreet Singh through a UK-based acquaintance, radicalised him via encrypted messaging apps, and provided him over Rs 36 lakh in terror funds. These funds were reportedly routed through a network of Canada-based entities that have since been identified and examined. Yugpreet, in turn, recruited the other two accused. The trio allegedly carried out the grenade attack at the Asron police post on the intervening night of December 1–2. Foreign handlers had allegedly supplied the grenade used in the crime. The case remains under investigation. An NIA official said, 'Our efforts are focused on dismantling KZF's terror infrastructure and foiling their plans to target law enforcement agencies, critical installations, and orchestrate targeted killings in Punjab.'
