Freedom from 'Nakal mafia': UP Deputy CMs laud Yogi Adityanath, Amit Shah for boosting recruitment and curbing crime
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 15 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak on Sunday praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for transforming the state's law and order landscape and executing a 'corruption free' recruitment process for the government jobs.
Speaking at recruitment ceremony in Lucknow, where 60,244 newly selected police constables received appointment letters from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Deputy Chief Ministers highlighted the state's progress in curbing crime and ensuring transparent governance.
Deputy Chief Minister Maurya, addressing the recruits, emphasized the government's commitment to the safety of Uttar Pradesh's 25 crore population.
'Our one and only resolve is the safety of 25 crore people of Uttar Pradesh, a corruption-free state, development, and recruitment. Uttar Pradesh is progressing rapidly with corruption-free recruitments and freedom from 'Nakal mafia',' he said.
'Before 2017, we were not in government in Uttar Pradesh, and the entire state was dominated by goons, criminals, mafias, rioters, and the corrupt,' Maurya added.
The ceremony was also, attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Deputy Chief Minister Pathak praised Shah's leadership in tackling national security threats, stating, 'Under Home Minister Amit Shah's able leadership, organised crime, Naxalite movement and the forces that disturb the country are being completely wiped out. We clearly remember that under the Congress government and other Opposition parties, innocent people were killed by Naxalites.'
He further noted Shah's resolve to eliminate unrest, saying, 'Union Home Minister took the vow to completely destroy those who spread unrest and violence in the country. You have achieved what was being awaited in our country since independence. I think the Naxalite movement will be wiped out from the entire country much before the deadline he set.'
Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the recruitment process was carried out transparently, without any influence of caste, recommendation, or bribery.
Addressing the recruits at a state-level ceremony in Lucknow, Shah said, 'Till date, recruitments in the Police force were being done on the basis of caste. But today, all of you have been appointed because of transparency through technology. Today, there are CCTV cameras, control rooms, command centres, PCR One, and more than 150 FSL units. All of you have to take this forward. I am confident that you will move forward with the mantra of security, service and sensitivity.'
He noted that the selected youth come from every caste, community, tehsil, and district of the state and are now part of the country's largest police force.
Calling it a landmark moment in the lives of the recruits, the Home Minister added, 'Today is the most auspicious day in the lives of the youth sitting in front of me because today more than 60,000 youth representing every caste, community and district of Uttar Pradesh are going to become an active part of the largest police force of India.'
Reflecting on the state's past law and order situation, Shah said, 'The state's law and order were continuously deteriorating. But after the BJP government formed in the state in 2017, Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh Police again started moving toward achieving new heights.'
The Uttar Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment Exam 2024 was held on August 23, 24, 25, 30, and 31 across 67 districts. The exam, conducted in two shifts each day, was held at 1,174 centres and aimed to fill over 60,000 vacancies. (ANI)

Vijayawada: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has requested Union commerce minister Piyush Goyal to allocate ₹150 crore from the tobacco board to the state govt to manage the ongoing burley tobacco purchases. He said that the state govt is purchasing about 20 million kg of burley tobacco by spending nearly ₹300 crore as traders did not pick up the stocks leaving the growers into deep trouble. Union minister Goyal visited chief minister Chandrababu Naidu's residence in Undavalli on Sunday and held discussions on various issues. The chief minister explained that the state govt set up tobacco purchase centres at seven locations in Bapatla, Guntur, Palnadu, and Prakasam districts to avoid further delay causing distress among the farming community. "The state govt deployed state marketing agency-markfed to purchase burley tobacco from growers and it was expected to cost around Rs 300 crore. The state's burden would greatly come down if the Centre grants at least Rs 150 crore from the surplus revenues of the tobacco board," said Naidu. He observed that bringing the cultivation of white and black burley tobacco too under the tobacco board jurisdiction would be help regulate the crop properly. Chief minister urged Goyal to reconsider reducing the import duty on oil palm to 10%. He explained that reducing import duty is causing palm oil farmers in the state to receive unfair prices and suffer significant losses. Chief minister highlighted that the decision to reduce import duty could hinder the goals of the National Mission on Edible Oils (NMEO) set by the centre. He suggested the union minister to hold discussions with the US regarding the duties imposed on aqua exports. "The 27% duty imposed by the US on seafood is impacting eight lakh aqua farmers in Andhra Pradesh. The Centre should exert pressure on USA to reduce the burden to relieve aqua farmers," said Naidu. He had also urged Goyal to reduce GST on mango pulp from 12% to 5%. He said that the state govt had already brought the issue to the attention of the Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Uttarakhand chopper crash: Amit Shah, Aviation Minister, speaks to CM Dhami, assures support from Centre
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 15 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu on Sunday reached out to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to enquire about the tragic helicopter crash in Rudraprayag in which seven people were killed. The incident, which occurred at around 5:30 am earlier today, claimed the lives of seven people on board, including five adults, one infant and one crew member. According to a statement from the Uttarakhand Chief Minister's Office, the Union Ministers had a telephone conversation with Dhami during which they assured the Centre of full cooperation following the crash. 'Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu also inquired about the Kedarnath heli accident from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami over the phone and assured all possible cooperation from the Centre,' the statement read. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to Uttarakhand CM Dhami in the wake of the tragic helicopter crash. According to an official statement from the Uttarakhand Chief Minister's office, CM Dhami informed the Prime Minister that a high-level meeting was held immediately after the incident and instructions were given to probe the incident. 'Prime Minister prayed for the strength to bear this loss to the families of the deceased. He assured all possible cooperation from the central government. Chief Minister Dhami informed the Prime Minister that a high-level meeting had been held immediately after the incident. Instructions have been given to constitute a high-level inquiry committee to thoroughly investigate the causes of the accident. The helicopter took off from Guptkashi at 05:10 am and landed at Shri Kedarnath Ji Helipad at 05:18 am before departing again at 05:19 am for Guptkashi and is reported to have crashed near Gaurikund between 05:30 am and 05:45 am, the statement said. The ministry said that preliminary indications suggest that the probable cause of the crash may be Controlled Flight into Terrain (CFIT), with the helicopter reportedly airborne despite poor visibility and extensive clouding at the valley entry area. The exact cause will be determined through a detailed investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). (ANI)

Kejriwal offers condolences to victims' family in Pune bridge collapse incident
New Delhi [India], June 15 (ANI): Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal expressed his 'deepest condolences' over the unfortunate bridge collapse incident near Talegaon of Maharashtra's Pune. 'This accident in Pune is very sad. My deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this accident. I wish for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident,' Kejriwal posted on X. An old iron bridge over the Indrayani River near Kundamala village in Maharashtra's Pune district collapsed on Sunday afternoon, leaving at least four people dead and dozens injured, officials said. The incident prompted authorities to launch immediate search and rescue operations. According to the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), 39 people were rescued and four bodies recovered. 'A narrow bridge over the Indrayani River in Kundmala, Pune, collapsed. 35 people were rescued initially by local efforts. NDRF, in joint ops with civil administration, rescued 4 more alive & recovered 4 bodies. Rescue operations are ongoing,' the NDRF said in a post on X. The Maharashtra government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the families of those killed in the incident. 'CM Devendra Fadnavis has announced that the state government will provide financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of those who lost their lives in the bridge collapse incident on the Indrayani river near Talegaon in Pune district. Additionally, the state government will also bear the cost for the medical treatment of the injured,' the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said in a post on X. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently in Cyprus, spoke to CM Fadnavis to take stock of the ongoing rescue and relief operations. Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan, also at the scene, stated that the bridge collapsed due to excessive load as nearly 300 tourists stood on it despite prior warnings. 'The rescue operation is going on war footing. There is a possibility of the presence of a body under the debris... NDRF and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are all working to remove the debris... This narrow bridge was meant for the movement of the farmers, but 250-300 tourists stood on it, and the bridge collapsed due to excessive load... Entry was denied over here with boards erected, even police and locals warned about it,' Mahajan told ANI. Maharashtra Minister Makarand Patil also expressed these concerns and said several injured have been admitted to the civil hospital. 'Till now, injured people have been admitted to the (Civil) hospital... The rescue operation is going on in full swing. NDRF and SDRF have come here for the same, along with volunteering organisations and locals... This bridge was restricted for people and two-wheelers; however, due to excitement around monsoon tourism, many tourists gathered on despite restrictions,' Patil told ANI. Search operations were ongoing for those feared swept away. All agencies were on high alert, while the injured received medical treatment at nearby hospitals. (ANI)
