BSF destroyed over 118 Pak posts, dismantled surveillance system: Shah
Jammu, May 30 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in the Jammu frontier destroyed and damaged over 118 Pakistani posts and dismantled Pakistan's entire surveillance system during Operation Sindoor post Pahalgam terror attack. Shah visited Poonch, which bore the brunt of Pakistani shelling, and expressed gratitude on behalf of the 140 crore people of India to all the border guards of the BSF. Addressing the BSF personnel in Poonch, Shah said whenever there was any attack on India's borders, it was the BSF who faced it first. In any situation, 365 days a year and round-the clock, BSF personnel remain available, vigilant, and dedicated, he said and emphasized that due to BSF personnel, no attack can directly cause damage within India's borders because the first line of defence is the chest of a BSF soldier. On this occasion, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, Director General of the Border Security Force, and several other distinguished people were present. Shah said during Operation Sindoor, while upholding their traditions, BSF personnel deployed at the Jammu and Rajasthan frontiers and the remote Kutch border protected the nation's borders with utmost vigilance. He noted that when Pakistan attacked residential areas in retaliation for the Indian Army's strikes on terrorists in Pakistan, BSF personnel in the Jammu frontier destroyed and damaged over 118 Pakistani posts. He added that the BSF dismantled Pakistan's entire surveillance system. Union Home Minister stated that even during peacetime, the BSF maintained a sharp watch on Pakistan's posts, and during Operation Sindoor, based on precise intelligence and in the shortest possible time, they inflicted maximum damage on Pakistani posts. Shah said that the BSF caused the most damage to Pakistan's surveillance equipment. Border Forces Dismantled Pak's Surveillance System Piece By Piece: Amit Shah
Poonch: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday lauded the BSF for its resolute response to Pakistani aggression earlier this month and said over 118 enemy posts were destroyed and damaged in retaliatory action along the Jammu frontier. During his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after Operation Sindoor, he said the border guarding force had dismantled the enemy's surveillance network, dealing a significant blow that would take them years to repair. Concluding his two-day tour of the Jammu region to review the security situation, Amarnath Yatra preparedness and to interact with victims of Pakistani shelling, the Union home minister commended the BSF troopers, saying damaging or destroying more than 118 posts in three days is a significant achievement. "When Pakistan responded to our anti-terror operations by attacking our borders and civilian areas, it was the BSF jawans of the Jammu Frontier who retaliated by destroying and damaging over 118 posts," he said. "They dismantled the enemy's entire surveillance system piece by piece -- a system that will take them four to five years to rebuild." He said that according to information he received from the BSF director general, Pakistan had suffered the biggest blow to its communication systems and surveillance equipment, rendering them "incapable of waging a full-fledged information-based war for quite some time". Praising the BSF's readiness even during times of relative peace, Mr Shah said their intelligence enabled precise pre-emptive action. "This proves that even during peacetime, you kept a vigilant eye... Based on your accurate intelligence, a precise counter-strategy was prepared well in advance. When the opportunity arose, you implemented it with success." Calling the feat a reflection of immense patriotism and sacrifice, Mr Shah added, "Such bravery only emerges when there is pride in the nation, a sense of patriotism in the heart, and a passion for supreme sacrifice. That is when such outcomes are possible." He emphasised the BSF continues to serve as India's first line of defence, operating across deserts, mountains, forests, and rugged terrains with unwavering dedication. "Whenever there is any kind of attack on India's borders -- organized or unorganised, covert or overt -- the first to bear the brunt are our BSF jawans. But they never pause to consider where the boundary lies," Mr Shah said. Reflecting on his travel to Poonch despite inclement weather, Mr Shah said he was determined to meet the jawans personally. "I came to Poonch to visit and share the grief of the damage done to gurudwaras, temples, mosques, and civilian populations." "I was told the weather was not favourable. Still, I decided that I would go by road and return only after meeting the jawans posted at the border. God was gracious - the weather cleared up, and I had the opportunity to meet you," he said. The Union home minister expressed gratitude to the BSF troopers on behalf of the government and the citizens of India. "The cheer for BSF is as loud as for the Army, and that is a matter of great pride for all of us." Shah reiterated that the valour and sacrifices of BSF jawans have earned national admiration and stand as a symbol of India's enduring resolve towards security.

Jammu, May 30 (UNI) Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Friday distributed appointment letters for government jobs to the families of people affected by the cross-border attack in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir. On this occasion, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, along with several distinguished individuals, was present. In his address, Union Home Minister expressed his condolences to the families affected by the cowardly attacks by Pakistan on residential areas, temples, gurudwaras, and madrasas in Poonch. He said that a program to provide government jobs to the families of those killed in the condemnable attack by Pakistan was organized here and the compensation and government jobs cannot fully compensate for the loss of life, but they are a symbol of the sentiments of the Jammu and Kashmir government, the Government of India, and people of the entire nation. He emphasized that the whole country stands with them like a rock at this time, adding, "the spirit of patriotism that emerged among the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir, from the valley to Poonch and Kathua, following the Pahalgam terrorist attack has strengthened the resolve of people the entire nation." Shah said that a cowardly terrorist attack took place on innocent pilgrims in Pahalgam, and thereafter, under the policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to respond to terrorist attacks with promptness and severity, we destroyed terrorist bases in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan. He stated that for the first time, Indian forces demolished the headquarters of terrorist organizations located within Pakistan's borders. He added that due to the resolute determination of Prime Minister Modi, the precise intelligence provided by our agencies, and the remarkable courage and pinpoint accuracy of the military, hundreds of terrorists were eliminated. Shah remarked that India had attacked the terrorists, but Pakistan perceived it as an attack on itself, revealing to the entire world the truth that Pakistan is providing shelter to terrorists. Union Home Minister stated that India did not attack any military or civilian institution in Pakistan and, with utmost precision and restraint, Indian forces completely destroyed Pakistan-sponsored terrorist bases. He said that following India's attacks on terrorist bases in Pakistan, a rattled Pakistan resorted to firing in residential areas of Jammu and Kashmir, with Poonch suffering the most damage. He said Pakistan fired on all residential areas, temples, gurudwaras and madrasas in Poonch as well, adding he said that the entire world is strongly condemning Pakistan's attacks on civilians. He added that when Pakistan attacked our residential areas and unarmed civilians, the Indian Army responded robustly by damaging nine of their airbases and military capabilities, forcing Pakistan to come forward for a ceasefire agreement. Shah said that under Modi's leadership, India's security policy is clear, our army will not tolerate any kind of interference on our civilians and borders. He said that many homes and commercial establishments in Poonch have been damaged, and the Government of India will introduce a relief package for this in the coming days. The Union Home Minister stated that the development of Jammu and Kashmir will neither stop nor slow down, and the pace of development that began in 2014 will continue. He said that our armed forces and security personnel are fully capable of responding to every attack, he said and noted that during this period, the entire Jammu and Kashmir administration stood with the people at every moment. He added that the administration promptly worked to evacuate thousands of people to safe locations, which significantly reduced our losses. Shah said that after becoming Prime Minister, Narendra Modi immediately decided to construct bunkers, and over 9,500 bunkers were built in our border areas, which greatly helped in saving the lives of our citizens during recent attacks. Home Minister stated that the Government of India will build more bunkers to protect our citizens during disasters. He emphasized that the Government of India stands like a rock with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Shah said that Prime Minister Modi has made it very clear that terror and talks, or terror and trade, cannot coexist, and blood and water cannot flow together. GDP growth slows to 6.5% in 2024-25, slowest since the pandemic While a significant uptick in economic activity in the fourth quarter of financial year 2024-25 pushed GDP growth for the full year to 6.5%, as per the provisional estimates for 2024-25 released by the government on Friday (May 30, 2025), this is the slowest since the pandemic year 2020-21. As per data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, real GDP growth in Q4 of 2024-25 accelerated to 7.4%, the fastest quarterly growth in the year. Quarterly GDP growth stood at 6.4% in Q3. Nevertheless, growth in Q4 of 2024-25 was slower than the 8.4% seen in the fourth quarter of the previous financial year. The agriculture sector continued its strong performance in Q4, leading to a relatively strong showing for the full year. Kerala rains: IMD declares red alert for eight districts With heavy rainfall continuing to batter Kerala districts, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday (May 30, 2025) upgraded the rainfall alert level for the State by putting eight districts on red alert for extremely heavy rainfall (above 20 cm in a 24-hour period). The alert level was scaled up in the 1 p.m. weather update by the IMD's Meteorological Centre in Thiruvananthapuram.
