Former Trinamool Congress leader Bibhas Chandra Adhikari, arrested in Noida for running a fake 'International Police & Crime Investigation Bureau' office, is alleged to have operated a similar scam in Kolkata's Beliaghata. Police say Adhikari, his son and four others posed as government officials, using forged IDs, police-style insignia, and armed escorts to deceive the public and extort money. Locals in Kolkata recall him with armed men and a blue beacon on his car.
ANI UP: Police bust fake international police, crime investigation bureau office in Noida; 6 arrested Kolkata: Former Trinamool Congress leader Bibhas Chandra Adhikari, arrested in Noida for running a fake office called the International Police & Crime Investigation Bureau, is alleged to have operated a similar set-up in Kolkata's Beliaghata. Adhikari, his son, and four others were arrested on Saturday night for running the Noida operation. Police said the group posed as government officials, misled the public, and extorted money. It is learnt that Adhikari ran a similar bogus office under the name 'Interpol' in Kolkata. Locals claimed they saw armed men, whom they believed to be policemen, staying with Adhikari. 'We thought he was a senior officer. Armed men accompanied him. He used a blue beacon on his car. We saw him as recently as last month,' a neighbour said.
On Saturday, Gautam Budh Nagar police in Noida arrested six men for running the fake International Police & Crime Investigation Bureau office, which deceived the public by impersonating government officials. They allegedly used forged documents, fake IDs, and police-style insignia to extort money.
'We have dismantled a well-planned fraud. The accused set up a fake office in Noida Sector 70 under the guise of the International Police & Crime Investigation Bureau, using police-like insignia and fabricated ministry documents to mislead the public,' said DCP Central Noida, Shakti Mohan Awasthi. 'During the raid, we arrested six suspects and seized extensive evidence, including forged IDs, ministry certificates, cheque books, ATM cards, visiting cards, signboards, mobile phones, and Rs 42,300 in cash,' Awasthi said. A former Trinamool block president from Birbhum's Nalhati, Adhikari was reportedly under investigation by the CBI and Enforcement Directorate in connection with the recruitment scam. A political row has broken out over Adhikari's association with the Trinamool Congress, with the BJP alleging that all fraudulent activities are linked to the party.

On the occasion, Sandeep Rai Rathore, Director General of Police, Training, Police Training Headquarters, Chennai, received his Ph.D in Disaster Mitigation and Management at VIT, Vellore. A total of 11,563 students got their degree certificates including 451 PhD scholars. Earlier, as part of the event, Abdul Kalam and Jagadish Chandra Bose blocks, which were men's hostels, were inaugurated by Justice Mr. Mahadevan. Cybercrooks cheat US-based techie in digital arrest threat con
Pune: A man (45) who works as a software engineer in a USA-based firm was cheated out of Rs 4.5lakh after cybercrooks threatened him of a money laundering case and subsequent arrest. The man's father (70) from Amrawati lodged a complaint with the Koregaon Park police on Friday. He had earlier lodged a complaint with the Amrawati police and the Amrawati police transferred the FIR to the Koregaon Park police for further investigation. Senior inspector Sunil Thopte of Koregaon Park police told TOI, "The case was transferred to KP police as the USA-based techie's bank account is with a private bank in Koregaon Park." "They also claimed that the suspects involved in the money laundering case had tapped his phone," he said. "The suspects then promised to settle the matter and asked for money from the techie. 11 die on way back from Gangasagar as bus rams truck in Burdwan
Burdwan: Eleven people died and 36 others were injured after the bus they were travelling in rammed into a stationary trailer truck on NH-19 near Fagupur crossing in East Burdwan around 7 am on Friday. Doctors said several among those injured, including the bus driver, are critical. Police have confiscated both vehicles and have registered an FIR alleging that the trailer truck was parked illegally on the highway. The driver of the trailer truck fled the scene of the accident and is yet to be found. Ten of the 11 bodies have been identified. They include: Mira Devi (30), Amarjit Kumar (14), Jogi Sahni (65), Nagina Sahni (76), Naresh Paswan (45), Pundeb Paswan (65), Sundarpati Devi (65), Shiv Shankar Giri (54), Sukdev Sharma (68) and Paras Shah (46). All 11 bodies underwent postmortem examinations at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital. Police handed over 10 identified bodies to family members. The East Burdwan district administration announced Rs 2 lakh financial aid to families of the deceased.
