I've Been Going to Disneyland for Over 30 Years and This Is Its Best Hotel—Here's Why

Spacious signature suites are perfect for families and come with access to Veranda, a lounge with all-day food and drink service, included in the price.
Tenaya Stone Spa is ideal for relaxation before or after a day running around the parks, and you can't beat the river stone massage, set to classical Disney song covers upon request.
Napa Rose offers an upscale dining option with California cuisine and wine pairings, and it will reopen in the fall with a totally remodeled interior and patio.
The Yosemite theme extends to the pool area, and between floating exercise classes, a water slide, and Jacuzzis, there are areas to entertain both kids and adults.
It all happened so fast. The rope fell and the crowd took off, each person seemingly faster, taller, or more prepared than me. My husband, Alex, with his long legs and razor-sharp determination to get to Cars Land first, was among them. Meanwhile, there I was, in the Mickey gear he picked out for me, falling behind while trying not to stumble over any children and almost losing sight of him if not for his Goofy-themed Hawaiian shirt.
I was still bleary-eyed and chilly, the Southern California sun not yet high enough in the sky to warm the streets of Disneyland's California Adventure park—but knowing I'd better not be the reason we'd have to wait in line for Radiator Springs Racers , one of our favorite rides, I did my best to speed up. T+L senior editorial director Nina Ruggiero and her husband Alex pose at Disneyland with Goofy and Pluto.
We live under an hour from Anaheim, but typically only make it to Disneyland about twice a year. When we're there, however, Alex treats a day at the parks like some sort of extreme, open-to-close challenge. Don't get me wrong, I'm always excited to be along for the adventure, but I grew up slowly herding my three younger sisters around Disneyland, and the words 'rope drop' meant nothing to me until I met Alex. He, on the other hand, grew up flying to Orlando from the UK for two full weeks of non-stop theme park action at a time.
All of this is to say, once in a while, we like to treat ourselves to a sleepover at the Happiest Place on Earth. For me, it's comforting to know I can hit the pillow as soon as the park closes (because by now you know we're squeezing in one more spin on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance before the gates shut for the night), or pop back to my room to change my shoes and grab a sweater. For Alex, it's an immersive experience that means we have early access and can make the absolute most of our Disney time.
Our Disneyland hotel of choice is the Yosemite National Park—themed Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, where there are plenty of perks we both love equally. A hot stone massage with classical Disney covers playing softly in the background? Yes, please. A premium wine pairing with a rack of lamb or filet mignon? Sign us up. Pools with a waterslide and floating exercise classes? We'll stick around for some time in the sun for sure. But best of all is Veranda, the Ritz Carlton-like club-level lounge that comes with all-day food and drink service and indoor-outdoor seating. The setup is so enticing, we even left the park early one night to sit with a glass of wine and a VIP view of the fireworks. (It was Alex's idea, I swear.) Interior of one of the hotel's guest rooms.
Christian Thompson/Disneyland Resort
The hotel has more than 900 rooms, including 44 suites, all designed with families in mind. The largest suites have three bedrooms and sleep between 10 and 13 adults. The smallest standard rooms can still sleep up to five. There are options with views of the park, the pool, the courtyard, and Downtown Disney. Beyond the trees, the balcony of our one-bedroom suite looked out at Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! (formerly the Tower of Terror ) . Wood and stone accents carry the national park vibe throughout, and additional on-theme details such as stained glass windows and fireplaces can be found in some suites. (El Capitan is a favorite.) Club level rooms come with access to the Veranda lounge; more on that below. Have a drink by the fire or at the bar in the Hearthstone Lounge.
Napa Rose is the hotel's fine dining restaurant, ideal for special occasions or Disney date nights. Here, you can taste seasonal California flavors in dishes like charred Pacific ahi tuna crudo, wild boar ragout, agnolotti filled with braised greens, and maple leaf duck breast. A price-fixed menu and multiple wine pairing options are available. Editor's Note: Napa Rose is undergoing renovations and will reopen in fall 2025.
Storytellers Cafe is famous for its character breakfasts, but you can hit the buffet there for every meal if you want to. Starting May 16, they'll even join you for dinner at Donald's Tales of Adventure Dinner Buffet, where you can meet Donald, Daisy, Clarabelle, Goofy, or Pluto while eating prime rib, fried chicken, s'mores bread pudding, and more.
Hearthstone Lounge feels like being in a cozy, upscale national park lodge, with a crackling fireplace and hearty dishes like short rib lasagna and truffle mac and cheese.
GCH Craftsman Bar serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks poolside—and usually with sports on TV. If a pre-park drink is your style, this is your spot for morning cocktails, be it a bloody Mary, mimosa, or the popular Grand Candied Orange Coffee with brandy and Kahlua. GCH Craftsman Grill is the place for grab-and-go breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and more.
The resort's three pools are full of action, from the waterslide (which twists around a replica redwood tree stump) to the fitness classes taught on floating boards, to the cabanas. There's also Eureka Fitness Center with gym equipment and yoga classes (in Disney Ears Yoga, character accessories are key), and bootcamp classes are led through Disney California Adventure park before it opens. Monthly events are held at the Great Hall, like Star Wars music night in May, and Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures, complete with royal activities and Mickey waffles, are held in the Trillium Room. Pictures with the princesses are encouraged, of course. The Relaxation Lounge at the Tenaya Stone Spa.
The serene, full-service Tenaya Stone Spa feels worlds away from the parks, though your masseuse may ask if you'd like to listen to Disney tunes while they work their magic. Try the Tenaya river stone massage or the gemstone sparkle facial, with a diamond collagen mask, and leave time to sit in the relaxation room with a cup of tea and marvel at the fact that you're actually at Disneyland Resort and not on a spa getaway in the mountains.
Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa has both wheelchair-accessible and hearing-accessible rooms, bookable on request. There are accessible travel paths into the lobby, parking lot, restaurants, shops, and meeting rooms. Guests with hearing or speech disabilities can also ask for Teletypewriter (TTY) devices at check-in. Disney recommends using ScooterBug to rent wheelchairs and mobility scooters, which can be preordered and delivered to the hotel.
The hotel is located on Disneyland Resort grounds and offers easy access to both parks and Downtown Disney's dining, shopping, and entertainment. It also has its own entrance to Disney California Adventure Park, which is under construction through mid-May. (During this time, guests can use an alternate gate next to the hotel.) The Grand Californian also has its own parking lot, which costs $40 per night for self-parking and $70 per night for valet. Those coming just to visit the restaurants or spa can get three to five hours of free parking. Interior of The Veranda.
Although it will cost you extra up front, the best way to get the most out of your stay is to book a Club Level room, which comes with access to the Veranda lounge. Disney clearly marks which rooms are considered Club Level on the hotel's website. When I tried on the website for multiple spring dates, I found that selecting club level added about $500 to the nightly price, but it can run higher.
Every guest on the reservation gets club access up to the maximum occupancy, which is high, ranging from five to 13 depending on the room. Veranda, located on the sixth floor, hosts food and drinks from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day, from breakfast, to afternoon tea, to appetizers, to desserts. Alcoholic drinks are also included. (Just think about what a meal for the family and a few beers for the adults would cost you inside the parks, especially over the span of a few days. Then add snacks, late-night dessert cravings, and a glass of wine or two...). Some rooms are eligible to add club access at check-in, pending availability.
In terms of park access, guests of the hotel with park passes get 30 minutes of early entry into either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park, depending on the day of the week.
Nightly rates at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa start from $597.

WWE Raw results, highlights (June 9): Gunther dethrones Jey Uso, John Cena vs. CM Punk official

"WWE Raw" in Phoenix felt more like a reset than the "Raw" after WrestleMania did because the bookings were all over the place — and chief among them was a change in the World Heavyweight Champion. That's right. Jey Uso dropped the title to Gunther in their rematch to close Monday night's show. So, let's start from the end and work back to the start of this wild, loaded "WWE Raw." 🤯 Shock of the Night It really felt like Uso was going to hold the World Heavyweight title for a significant period of time, and the last person we should have expected him to lose the belt to was Gunther after the lack of build to their rematch. The "Ring General" has barely even been seen since WrestleMania 41. Yet here he is, standing tall as a two-time champion. Advertisement There will be a trilogy to this and a longer story that probably culminates at SummerSlam, because this whole feud has become about these two choking each other. That was the core — and heft of the finish — of this match. Even before it started, Michael Cole couldn't stop highlighting on commentary how Gunther specifically tapped in the WrestleMania match. Then, ultimately, Uso went unconscious in the title rematch to lose his big gold belt. I was waiting for Seth Rollins to appear mid-submission from one of these guys, as another theme of the match was Uso's ribs being injured from this past Saturday. But it never came, and that's fine. This was one of those ultra-rare moments with an overall clean match on "WWE Raw" — for a world title no less, that even changed hands. I'm not sure if it was better than the pair's collision at WrestleMania, but this was all-around good stuff. Gunther is a better champion, and hopefully, gets some good feuds brewing right away, despite my expectation of things continuing with Uso. "WWE Raw" was absolutely jam-packed with storyline development and new beginnings. The fallout from WWE Money In the Bank this past Saturday has left significant ripple effects with plenty of intrigue around them all. And to rewind to start the show, WWE got to the big one right away. 👀 Tease of the Night "WWE Raw" wasted no time getting to the truth of the matter. (Pun fully intended.) Advertisement John Cena had plenty to say about his tag team loss with Logan Paul at WWE Money In the Bank, thanks to R-Truth's surprise return. The claims from Cena were more about the fans demanding that Truth get re-signed rather than the company's internal feelings, which was a somewhat amusing way to spin it, but an expected approach. "Big Match John" wanted competition. Not a class clown. So, he got CM Punk. Punk as one of Cena's final feuds was mandatory, and I'm totally here for it. However, this was the most random possible way to throw them together. WWE seems to have completely lost any sort of direction (if there ever was one) with Cena's final run because Truth was nowhere to be seen despite this lengthy opening segment. Advertisement Let's highlight Punk specifically, though. He literally just lost his Money In the Bank qualifier match last week. And that was because of his forever rival Seth Rollins costing him. So, Punk essentially ignored that not only at Money In the Bank, but on "WWE Raw" by calling back to his history with Cena (which was nice), then challenging the champion to one final showdown — on the spot. Cena accepted, but for Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia — a specific location Punk has had colorful words for in the past, making it another nice touch. Ultimately, he accepted, albeit not through the mic. Anything between these two is good, and this was, but the timing couldn't have been more off. As the cherry on top, Rollins made his entrance to end the segment. That was it. He held out the briefcase, and the show went on. The booking of Cena's title reign has been baffling. Before "WWE Raw" ended, we did get the eventual Ron Killings appearance. 🎤 Truth of the Night R-Truth might be back, but Ron Killings is here to stay. Advertisement Killings made it abundantly clear that he was going by his real name now, as he addressed the crowd on the commentary table in his same all black outfit from WWE Money In the Bank. It was a very, very shoot style promo. Killings thanked the crowd and alluded to everything that transpired from the moment of his release tweet to now. To round out his mic time, Killings almost started to feel like a heel, calling out those who treated R-Truth as a joke before he cut his hair off and demanded respect for his name. This was a home run way to turn a negative into a positive, because I don't think the wrestling world has ever been as interested in Killings as they are right now. I know that's true for me. Hell, at this point, Killings dethroning Cena would actually be an awesome storyline of events, especially if this WWE version of Killings smashes it from here on out, which he very well could. 🏆 Bracketology of the Night WWE went from Money In the Bank season right into King and Queen of the Ring season. Advertisement In the first women's fatal 4-way quarterfinal, Roxanne Perez defeated Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley and Kairi Sane to advance to the semifinals. Before the match started, there was more dissension boiling between Perez and Morgan, as Perez wanted to work together while Morgan told her to stay out of her way. They wound up teaming for the majority of the match and ultimately needed Raquel Rodriguez's help to stop Ripley from getting the win. Triple H will always find a way to get the interferences in. At least we didn't have to worry about disqualifications due to the match type. Perez rolled up Sane after she took out Morgan with the In-Sane Elbow, adding to the story. This was all-around solid — and typical Judgment Day shenanigans. Advertisement On the men's side, we essentially got a repeat of the WrestleMania 41 Intercontinental title match with Finn Balor replaced by Sami Zayn. It's nothing against Balor, because that match was great, but for this show, it was the... 👑 Uncrowned Gem of the Night 👑 The ending of the King of the Ring quarterfinal fatal 4-way match between Zayn, Bron Breakker, Dominick Mysterio and Penta was similar to the women's. Your powerhouse Breakker was swiftly in control until an interference, which was LA Knight hitting him with a BFT on the outside after a spear to Penta. Knight feuding with the "Sethriders" totally works for me after the tease on "WWE SmackDown," then what happened at WWE Money In the Bank. Zayn got the win with a Helluva Kick on Mysterio afterward, inching him closer to his slow-burn world title story. The match was a proper slapper, and although I'd have tweaked some of the ways it finished, you can't go wrong with any combination of these four. 🤡 Joke of the Night WWE has gotten better about carelessly spoiling surprise returns since the last Royal Rumble, as evidenced, obviously, by R-Truth, but, dude. The company just casually revealed that Asuka is going to come back as one of the members in the Queen of the Ring fatal 4-way qualifier matches. This is one of the most beloved female wrestlers of the past decade, man. They even put a mystery person in one of the men's matches. What a joke. To try and make up for it, they gave her a video package later in the night, but it's still inexcusable. With Stephanie Vaquer in the match, there's also no way Asuka wins. Frustrating stuff. 👏🤨 Return(s) of the Night We knew it was a matter of time, but this "WWE Raw" saw Bayley make her way back into the ring by attacking Becky Lynch, as the new Intercontinental Champion waited for Lyra Valkyria. Advertisement Lynch's promo was fine. She's always great on the mic, but her character's need to have Valkyria properly raise her hand is still stupid. There isn't even any good logic behind why Valkyria would have come out when Lynch called for her. Ultimately, Valkyria didn't even get a word out before Bayley appeared for the attack. That was pretty much the segment, so a fairly lackluster and rushed return, honestly. Oh, and speaking of spoilers, Nikki Bella was announced to be back in WWE at Money In the Bank. She gave the typical return, babyface promo before Morgan came out and started a feud. There was a whole lot of crammed, random booking on this "WWE Raw." They traded verbal jabs, and Morgan hit Bella with the Oblivion. Alright. It's a thing now. 👍 MONDAY NIGHT MONEY 👍 1. AJ Styles defeated a beat-up Chad Gable. It was an unsurprisingly good match, but pretty short. Hopefully, we start to see a change in Gable soon, which would presumably be after all the Grande Americano stuff is over. 2. Michael Cole and Wade Barrett are a much better duo than Cole and Pat McAfee. 👎 RAW DEAL 👎 1. Morgan's continued involvement in matches that lead to singles title opportunities just further smashes home how pointless the Women's Tag Team titles are. Just get rid of them, Triple H. You clearly don't care. Advertisement 2. The New Day are in Strugglesville, folks. Plain and simple, they need some help around them because it's the same thing over and over right now. 3. Karrion Kross staying involved with Zayn is nice, but let's start progressing Kross, yeah? Unless this is all building towards Kross costing Zayn or something, I don't know what the point is. 👑 This "WWE Raw" was an incredibly overwhelming watch, and the best word to describe it, if you couldn't tell, was "random." I give this show a Crown score of: 7.5/10. 👑

"Call Her Daddy" host Alex Cooper alleges sexual harassment by Boston University soccer coach

Before she amassed tens of millions of followers and one of the most popular podcasts in the world, Alex Cooper, the host of "Call Her Daddy," played soccer at Boston University. In her new documentary, "Call Her Alex," dropping Tuesday on Hulu, Cooper opened up for the first time about years' worth of alleged sexual harassment from her soccer coach, Nancy Feldman. Allegations in new documentary The trailer for the documentary alludes to a bombshell, life altering confession during a scene filmed on Boston University's soccer field. But as reported in The Hollywood Reporter, Cooper describes her coach becoming "fixated" with her and her body. Cooper alleges Feldman would leverage field time in exchange for information about her sex life. According to Boston University, Feldman retired in 2022. At the film's premiere in New York City over the weekend, Cooper is asked in social media videos about the revelations. Cooper said it was a trip to BU during the project's filming, that she learned the alleged behavior had been continuing a decade later. Just hours before the global release of her new Hulu documentary, Cooper spoke following the film's premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival over the weekend in New York City. "I spoke to one of the victims and hearing her story was horrific," Cooper said in the clip. "I knew in that moment if I don't speak about this. It is going to continue happening." She also alleged the athletic director, who per the university's website is still in his current role, declined to hear the evidence of harassment when her parents tried to present it to him. "We could go over the list of people who basically let me go and didn't check on me, mental health, nothing," Cooper said. Feldman, Boston University, nor the athletic department responded to our repeated requests for a comment for this report.

Sydney Sweeney Bathwater Hits eBay For Thousands Of Dollars After Selling Out

The announcement that Dr. Squatch would be collaborating with Sydney Sweeney to sell a new scent of soap made with her bathwater just about broke the internet. Following that, after listing the soap for sale – named ' Sydney's Bathwater Bliss ' – the product immediately sold out within seconds. Dr. Squatch put up as many as 5,000 bars of soap for sale. Each bar was priced at $8.00. As shared via NBC New York, they were listed for sale at 12 PM ET, and they were immediately out of stock. Users were said to have an 'estimated wait time to check out […] listed at nearly 250 minutes,' while 'others complained the website crashed.' It seems as though scalpers beat the average consumers to the punch, with listings now appearing on eBay following the sale. Prices on the reseller website range anywhere from $300 to $2,000. It's an unfortunate problem that has plagued similar online drops for the last few years. Of course, soap made from Sydney Sweeney's used bathwater was always destined to be a high seller. After all, Sweeney and Dr. Squatch already got consumers interested with their collaborative marketing campaign, it made sense that selling soap with Sweeney's more direct involvement would be the next step. Now that all 5,000 bars of soap have sold out, however, it remains to be seen what direction Sydney Sweeney and Dr. Squatch will take their collaboration in next, if at all. After all, it's going to be difficult to beat ' Sydney's Bathwater Bliss ' as a legitimate product. Additionally, Sweeney has been enjoying a rather successful boost in her career over the last few years, with several major projects lined up including an adaptation of the hit video game Split Fiction and a remake of the sci-fi cult classic Barbarella . Clearly this new line of soap was just a quick detour while she prepares to move onto even bigger and better things.
