AI has become essential in modern cybersecurity, not because it replaces human decision-making, but because it enables faster, more precise action in an environment defined by scale and unpredictability. As attack patterns grow more distributed and sophisticated, intelligence must evolve from reactive to anticipatory. This is especially urgent in areas like API security, where attacks have now surpassed those on traditional websites. In our recent analysis of over 7 billion attacks, APIs saw 30% more intrusion attempts, and bot attacks surged by 48%.
The future of security lies in systems that can filter noise, detect intent, and enable real-time decisions with confidence. But intelligence without verification can be risky. That's why AI needs to be paired with people who understand the application, the risk, and the response path. At Indusface, we combine AI-powered threat detection with human-led tuning and response. The goal is not just automation, but trusted outcomes. That's what gives our customers clarity under pressure and confidence when it matters most.

AP aqua farmers in tight spot as US tariffs take toll

Rajamahendravaram: Andhra Pradesh's vital aquaculture sector is facing an unprecedented crisis following the recent imposition of increased tariffs on shrimp imports by US President Donald Trump. This move, described by local farmers as a plunge 'from the frying pan into the fire', has significantly jeopardised the Rs 18,000-crore aqua export industry in the state. Andhra Pradesh is the undisputed leader in India's shrimp production and exports, contributing roughly 75 per cent of the nation's total shrimp output and about 32-33 per cent of the value of India's seafood exports. Over 10 lakh families in the state are directly or indirectly reliant on this sector, with major production hubs in West Godavari, Konaseema, Kakinada, and other districts. On July 31, the US President announced 25 per cent tariff on imports from India. The immediate consequence of the new US tariff was a sharp drop in shrimp prices. Farmers in the Godavari districts, including Konaseema and West Godavari, lament that prices have fallen by up to Rs 40 per kg. This steep decline means export prices, typically ranging from Rs 270-Rs 300 per kg, have now plummeted to Rs 220-Rs 230, resulting in a loss of Rs 40-Rs 50 per kg for farmers. The industry, which produces 4 lakh tonnes annually with 3.5 lakh tonnes earmarked for international markets, is grappling with a severe crisis. Farmers stated that by July 31, the price of 100-count shrimp had already dropped by Rs 40 per kg. According to a farmer, with new tariffs, exporting Rs 1 lakh worth of shrimp to the US could attract a tax outgo of Rs 26,000, potentially pushing the total burden further when factoring in other costs. This will not only hit cultivators hard but also the livelihoods of lakhs of daily wage labourers in associated sectors like packing, processing, and transportation, he added. Aqua sector experts warn that this price collapse would put farmers at a high risk of being unable to recover investments, leading to a debt trap. A decline in exports will also force processing units to reduce operations, potentially resulting in significant job cuts across the state. However, T Jagadeesh, a leading exporter from Bhimavaram, expressed his optimism that the aqua sector in AP would overcome the crisis. Speaking to The Hans India, Jagadeesh acknowledged the severe anxiety prevalent in the region's aqua industry, comprising nearly 200 exporters. He stated that the new US tariffs, combined with existing duties, would impose an additional burden of nearly 35 per cent on exporters. He, however, pointed out that the aqua sector is no stranger to crises and has consistently overcome challenges with determination. He further explained that state's aquaculture industry was not solely dependent on the American market, noting the availability of several alternative market opportunities. In response to this looming crisis, the state government is said to be actively considering strategies to mitigate the impact. An official confirmed that measures such as rebranding shrimp products, boosting internal marketing, and diversifying export opportunities were being explored to increase local consumption and find new markets for the beleaguered industry.

How Digital Adoption is Strengthening Trust and Redefining Risk in Regulated Industries

Mr Ajay Trehan , Founder and CEO of AuthBridge , spoke to The Hans India on the occasion of Digital Adoption Professionals Day about how technology is reshaping the foundation of trust in high-risk industries. Drawing from two decades of experience in digital verification, he shares how AI, real-time data intelligence, and responsible innovation are enabling faster, safer, and more compliant systems across sectors like BFSI, staffing, fintech, and logistics. He shared that in today's fast-evolving business landscape, digital adoption has matured well beyond the simple deployment of tools or platforms. In compliance-intensive sectors such as BFSI, fintech, logistics, and staffing, it now signals a structural transformation, embedding digital-first systems across the operational chain to enable processes that are not only fast and efficient but also deeply rooted in transparency, trust, and regulatory alignment. In high-stakes industries, the risks are multidimensional, ranging from identity fraud and document forgery to compliance lapses and reputational damage. These are not isolated operational hiccups but systemic vulnerabilities. Organisations operating in such domains increasingly view digital transformation not as a support function, but as a strategic lever for building and scaling trust intelligently. As a result, there is a visible shift from traditional reactive compliance models to real-time, proactive verification frameworks. Digital verification has emerged as a foundational defence mechanism, redefining how enterprises respond to rising threats such as synthetic identities, deep-fakes, and fraudulent documentation. Non-banking financial companies, for instance, have reported significant reductions in fake loan applications by integrating real-time identity checks and criminal record validations into their onboarding flows. Staffing platforms, particularly those catering to the gig economy, are increasingly deploying facial recognition and address triangulation to prevent identity duplication, an issue that can compromise safety and accountability at scale. Even in executive hiring, where the stakes are reputational, verification systems now include social media screening and litigation record analysis to surface potential red flags early in the process. When asked about what's powering this evolution, he mentioned the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI). Mr Ajay explained in detail how AI-enabled systems are not only verifying identities but also detecting intent and identifying linkages between previously disconnected data points. Document forensic engines, for example, can now flag tampered IDs with over 99% accuracy, even when the manipulation is subtle and pixel-level. Facial recognition tools embedded with liveness detection capabilities ensure that onboarding is genuine and tamper-proof. More critically, AI is helping organisations connect the dots by detecting suspicious behavioural patterns, such as repeated fraudulent activity linked to the same device or IP address, thereby adding a predictive layer to fraud prevention. The operational focus has also shifted towards delivering trust at scale without friction. Today, intelligent verification APIs enable businesses to complete onboarding processes within minutes while maintaining strict compliance with regulatory norms. Unified platforms are integrating identity checks, background screening, and document verification within a single ecosystem, reducing manual bottlenecks and operational lag. This shift is especially crucial for high-volume sectors like logistics, financial services, and blue-collar hiring, where neither speed nor scale can come at the cost of safety or compliance. Mr Ajay explained further that, however, as digital systems become more sophisticated, so does the responsibility that comes with their use. The deployment of AI in regulated environments demands a framework grounded in explainability, fairness, and human oversight. Whether it's screening candidates or approving credit, decision-making should be transparent and auditable. Human-in-the-loop systems remain essential, particularly in contexts where judgment, ethics, or contextual understanding are critical. Additionally, with the upcoming implementation of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act and other global privacy norms, consent-first data governance will be non-negotiable. Further adding, he said, "Looking ahead, digital verification is poised to become a foundation pillar of India's trust infrastructure. Integrated with initiatives like Aadhaar, DigiLocker, and the Account Aggregator framework, these systems will help businesses verify identity as well as validate behavioural consistency, contextual integrity, and risk signals, thereby establishing a more layered and intelligent model of trust." He shared, "As we mark Digital Adoption Professionals Day, it's a good time to reflect on the quiet yet powerful work being done by technology and compliance teams across India. While technology drives innovation; it is the people, compliance leaders, product thinkers, data scientists, and risk managers; who are making it responsible, scalable, and industry-ready. Their work ensures that as India's digital economy grows, it does so on the foundation of security, accountability, and long-term resilience." Concluding the interview, he stated that, in this new era, digital may be the default, but trust will remain its defining currency. And it is through thoughtful, transparent digital adoption that this currency will retain its value.

Stocks markets down as Trump tariffs take toll

Both NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex traded lower this morning as investor sentiment was down thanks to imposition of US tariff of a minimum 25 per cent on India. The other reason being July 31 is the last Futures Expiry Day. Talking to The Hans India, Arun Kejriwal, a capital market expert, says, 'The impact of Trump imposing 25 per cent reciprocal tariff on India across product categories and also an undisclosed fine and penalty for importing energy and arms from Russia has led to this sharp correction.' Today also happens to be July Futures expiry which has led to the more uncertainty into the market, he said. While a 25 per cent tariff imposed by the US on Indian exports certainly disrupts vital sectors and presents immediate challenges for India's economy, it is improbable that it will significantly alter the country's long-term growth path. India's growth narrative is supported by solid fundamentals such as a growing domestic market, vibrant entrepreneurial spirit, and increasing international partnerships. Additionally, elevated tariffs ultimately raise expenses for consumers and businesses in the US, rendering these measures impractical over time. Both countries have a shared interest in preserving advantageous trade relations, increasing the chances that tariff policies will be revised or eased in the future. Rajesh Palviya, SVP - Research, Axis Securities says, 'As market conditions and consumer demands evolve, both parties may be inclined towards negotiation and collaboration, which could mitigate any lasting effects of temporary tariff increases.'
