Ayush Mhatre Equals Brendon McCullum's 24-Year-Old Batting Record Of Scoring...
In the ongoing second youth Test against the English team, Mhatre scored 80 runs from 90 balls in the first innings and 124 runs from 80 balls in the second.
Ayush Mhatre is the captain of the India U-19 team, and on Wednesday (July 23), the right-handed batter from Mumbai was on fire with the bat against the England U-19 side. He opened for the visitors in the second innings of the second youth Test at County Ground in Chelmsford and completed his century in just 64 balls. The century on Wednesday is Mhatre's second century in the youth Test.
In the first innings of the first youth Test played at Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham last week, Mhatre scored 102 runs from 115 balls.
Mhatre, who plays for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, smacked 126 runs from 80 balls with the help of 13 fours and six sixes on Wednesday, and his batting strike rate was 157.50.
In the first innings of the ongoing match, he scored 80 runs from 90 balls with a strike rate of 88.89.
Mhatre, who is 18 years old, scored a total of 206 runs in the second youth Test from just 170 balls, and his strike rate in the game was 121.17.
The batting strike rate of 121.17 helped Mhatre equal former New Zealand captain and star batter Brendon McCullum's 24-year-old batting record.
During the 2001 New Zealand-South Africa youth Test played in Lincoln from February 4 to 7, McCullum also scored more than 200 runs in the match with a strike rate of 100+.
In that fixture, McCullum scored 186 runs from 172 balls (SR 108.13) in the first innings after coming out to bat at No. 6 and 46 not out from 42 balls (SR 109.52) in the second innings.
Interestingly, like Mhatre, McCullum was also the captain of the New Zealand team in that match.
Suryavanshi out for 0
14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was India's best batter in the five-match youth ODI series against the English team, failed to fire with the bat in the second innings of the second youth Test. He, in fact, was not able to open his account as well and was sent back to the pavilion for a first-ball duck by Alex Green. Green breached his defence and shattered his stumps.

Mohammed Siraj's Big Admission On Dropped Harry Brook Catch: "How Could I..."
Mohammed Siraj's admiration for Jasprit Bumrah is well known, and the genial Hyderabadi said he sorely missed the pace spearhead's presence in his hour of glory following India's victory in the fifth Test against England. Siraj grabbed a five-wicket haul in the second innings of the fifth Test at The Oval as India defeated England by six runs in a thriller to draw the series 2-2 on Monday. Siraj's nine-wicket haul in the game not only earned him the 'Man of the Match Award' but also brought him accolades from his legion of fans. "Every batsman, every bowler (who played the Test), hat's off to him... and the way we came back, crazy man. I miss Jassi (Bumrah) bhai because had he been there, it would have been special. I believe in Jassi bhai and myself," said an emotional Siraj in a video posted by BCCI. Bumrah did not play the final Test to manage his workload and was subsequently released from the Indian squad after playing the fourth game. Siraj seemed determined on the final day after dropping a catch of Harry Brook on Sunday. Every ball he bowled in the morning session on Monday tormented the English batters. "To be honest, the emotions I have right now (after the win), I cannot describe them because yesterday (Sunday) I dropped the catch. When I was going to bed (after day 4), I was only thinking about 'how could I drop it'. "Had I taken that catch, we wouldn't have had to come out and play on Monday. We would have been in the room relaxed. But the Almighty had something else in store for us. He brought us to the stadium on Monday and the result is in front of everyone," Siraj said. Siraj had stumbled on to the ropes while collecting Brook's catch at fine leg on day four, which would have turned the game decisively for India. "When I woke up in the morning (on Monday), my inner self told me that I can do it, I can change the game. I had that belief," he said. "I woke up in the morning and checked google on my phone and took out a 'Believe' emoji wallpaper and told myself that I will do it for the country. "I always believe that I can win the game from any point, and did that in the morning."

Meet family where films, swimming medals, and cricket caps go hand in hand, the legacy of Thalaivasal Vijay.
Not every actor fades after the credits roll. Some quietly build empires off-screen. 'Thalaivasal' Vijay, a familiar face from Tamil cinema's golden '90s, is one such name. Known for his deeply rooted performances, he's the kind of actor who might not grab the poster space but ends up staying in memory longer than the leads. It all started with Thalaivasal in 1992. From there, Vijay became a staple in films like Thevar Magan, Mahanadhi, and the evergreen Kadhal Kottai — especially the iconic 'Vyyathe Sakothara' song, where his dance became the talk of the town. With over 200 films under his belt across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi, Vijay became the master of meaningful roles, the friend, the father, the silent game-changer. Who is his daughter, and why is she in the news? While Vijay made a name through cinema, his daughter Jayaveena chose the pool. A record-breaking swimmer, she clinched a medal at the South Asian Swimming Championships in Nepal and was once crowned 'India's Fastest Swimmer.' She has represented the country multiple times and made Tamil Nadu proud. And what about the son-in-law? The athletic streak runs strong in this family. Jayaveena is married to Baba Aparajith, Tamil Nadu's cricket star and a former IPL player. He played a crucial part in India's victorious Under-19 World Cup campaign in 2012. The couple, both rooted in sport, tied the knot a few years ago and continue to thrive in their respective fields. Does Vijay still follow sports? Absolutely. Known to be a sports enthusiast since childhood, Vijay still loves tuning into sports channels at home. With a swimmer daughter and a cricketer son-in-law, his evenings are probably full of highlight reels and proud smiles.
