A suburban cowboy and his trusty steed, Shiny, have been credited with helping southern New Jersey police identify and arrest an alleged hit-and-run driver.
Italo Lalvay Guaillasaca, 22, allegedly fled the scene after crashing into a car parked on Middleton Street in Riverside Township, a suburb of Philadelphia, on the morning of May 31.

3 PJ and Shiny just happened to be in town when the crash occurred.

Witnesses who called 911 after hearing a loud crash said they watched Guaillasaca's vehicle speed from the scene.
Soon after Riverside Township cops arrived, the horseback-riding buckaroo PJ rode up to them on Shiny.

The man on horseback — police only identified him as PJ — provided police with a description of the fleeing Honda Accord along with a partial license plate.
He told police he witnessed the hit-and-run and giddy-upped after the Honda.
'PJ was able to ride after the vehicle and get close enough to 'read part of the plate,' which he then 'passed on to police.'

Without PJ and Shiny's gallant efforts, they may not have solved the case, the department said in a statement.
He only happened to be riding through town to show off Shiny to some friends.

'We want to thank the witnesses in this case for being observant, coming forward, and making the calls to our officers,' reads the Riverside Township Police statement. 'We'd especially like to thank PJ and his sidekick 'Shiny' for their efforts to get us the information that ultimately solved the case.'
Guaillasaca was charged with careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, driving without a license and failure to report an accident.

New York State trooper launched over guardrail after semi-truck plowed into patrol car during traffic stop on Thruway
A New York State trooper was seriously injured when a semi-truck plowed into his parked patrol car on the side of a busy upstate highway – obliterating the cruiser and sending the cop flying over a guardrail, police said. The freakish incident unfolded around 12:39 p.m. Friday as the trooper was conducting a traffic stop on the New York State Thruway in Schenectady County, just 25 miles southwest of Albany. The trailer-less tractor was traveling westbound on Interstate 90 when it slammed into the squad car, according to state police, which shared startling images of the collision. 4 The collision obliterated the New York State Police cruiser Friday afternoon. New York State Police/Facebook Police said the impact hurled the trooper, who was standing on the passenger side of a Honda Odyssey involved in the traffic stop, over the metal barrier and tumbling down an embankment. 'The incident is a powerful reminder: New York's Move Over Law is not optional,' police said, referring to a state law that requires motorists to slow down and shift lanes when a vehicle is stopped on an Empire State roadway. 4 The disastrous incident occurred on the New York State Thruway while the trooper was conducting a traffic stop. New York State Police/Facebook 'When you see emergency, police, fire, or highway crews on the shoulder – slow down and move over. Lives depend on it.' Images of the wreck showed the mangled cop car perched atop the flattened guardrail, its rear end sheared off, car hood damaged, windshield shattered and airbags deployed. The cruiser also smashed into the back of the Honda, leaving it severely damaged and shuttering the thruway for hours. 4 The trooper was sent to the hospital with serious injuries. CLAY COUNTY (KFDX/KJTL) — One person died after a vehicle vs pedestrian incident in Clay County on Friday, June 6, on highway US 287 near N. Butler Road. Clay County vehicle and pedestrian incident leaves one dead According to Texas DPS Sergeant Juan Gutierrez, the preliminary investigation revealed that a 2015 Honda Accord, driven by Cara Chitwood, 42, from Henrietta, was traveling northwest on US 82 when the vehicle experienced mechanical issues and stopped on the left shoulder, although partially in the left lane. Chitwood then exited the vehicle, making them a pedestrian, and then stood in the left lane to inspect the car. A Dodge Ram was also traveling northwest on US 82 in the left lane and struck Chitwood and her car. Chitwood was pronounced dead at the scene.
