ATS Travel to accept Crypto Currency as a Form of Payment

ATS Travel and Payhound announced a groundbreaking understanding to enable ATS Travel to accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment for all its services. This new development marks a significant milestone in the Middle East's travel industry, making ATS Travel the first large-scale travel management company in the region to adopt cryptocurrency for both corporate and leisure travel transactions, informed Saleem Sharif, Deputy Managing Director of ATS travel on the sidelines of the travel industry leading event Private Luxury Barcelona, from Private Luxury Events.
Under this historic arrangement, ATS Travel's clients – many of whom are high-net-worth individuals from across the Middle East – will now have the flexibility to pay for a wide range of travel services, including airline tickets, luxury travel, holiday packages, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Exhibitions, and Events) services, and more, using leading cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others, informed Sharif. This initiative is poised to be a game changer in the travel industry and reflects the region's growing interest in digital currencies and blockchain technology, added Sharif.
A First in the Middle East
This collaboration is the first of its kind for a company of ATS Travel's scale and prestige in the Middle East, setting a new benchmark for the industry. With a focus on innovation and forward-thinking business solutions, the understanding with Payhound enables ATS Travel to meet the demands of a tech-savvy, digital-first clientele, particularly those accustomed to high-end services. The implementation of crypto payments is expected to significantly enhance the customer experience by providing seamless, instant, and secure payment options while eliminating the delays and costs typically associated with traditional banking methods, informed Sharif.
Payhound: Pioneering the Future of Payments
Payhound, headquartered in Malta, is a fully regulated crypto payment provider with a proven track record of supporting businesses across multiple industries, including iGaming, financial institutions, e-commerce, affiliate marketing, and more. The company specializes in crypto payment processing, settlements, and large volume trading, offering businesses a secure and efficient way to accept digital currencies for their products and services. And we are excited about the prospect of collaborating with ATS Travel to facilitate acceptance of Crypto Currency as a Form of Payment for them, informed Melissa Lamb, Director of Sales, Luxury at Payhound.
With a Virtual Financial Assets Service Provider (VFAS) license granted by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) in 2021, Payhound is one of the first regulated entities in the space to provide these services. Payhound's platform ensures businesses can receive payments in seconds, eliminating the delays that are often associated with traditional banking processes, informed Lamb.
A Strategic Move for ATS Travel
The strategic collaboration with Payhound aligns with ATS Travel's ongoing commitment to providing innovative solutions to its corporate and leisure customers. Khaled Ghubash, Managing Director of ATS Travel, expressed excitement over the proposed partnership, stating, 'We are thrilled to be the first travel management company in the Middle East to integrate cryptocurrency payments into our services, once done. This arrangement with Payhound reflects our commitment to offering cutting-edge services that meet the evolving needs of our clients, particularly in a region where cryptocurrency adoption is on the rise.'
Ghubash added, 'By offering cryptocurrency payment options, we are not only meeting the demands of high-net-worth individuals and businesses but also positioning ourselves as leaders in an industry that is moving rapidly toward digitalization. We expect this to open new avenues for business and strengthen our relationships with our clients.'
A Bright Future for Digital Payments in Travel
This association signifies a shift towards more modern, flexible payment solutions in the travel industry, particularly in the Middle East, where the cryptocurrency market is seeing increasing growth. ATS Travel's ability to accept digital currencies will provide corporate clients, leisure travelers, and MICE customers with a more streamlined, faster, and secure way to manage their travel expenses, informed Sharif.
The association between Payhound and ATS Travel is expected to set the stage for further innovations in payment solutions for the global travel industry. The two companies are excited about the potential to further expand this offering and introduce even more groundbreaking services in the future, informed Lamb.

Metaplanet Pursues Bitcoin Supremacy with Aggressive Acquisitions

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has scaled its way into the top ten corporate Bitcoin holders by acquiring a further 1,088 BTC for roughly $117.9 million, boosting its total holdings to 8,888 BTC and vaulting above Galaxy Digital and Block Inc. into ninth place worldwide. The firm purchased the coins at an average price of approximately $108,400 each, signalling deepening confidence in its treasury strategy underpinned by sustained market uncertainty. Metaplanet's pivot from hotel management to cryptocurrency began in 2024. Since then, its stock has surged dramatically, at times rising over 8,850 per cent in just two years, as the company pursued a bitcoin‑centric treasury model. That performance has mirrored similar moves in the sector, including U.S. software firm Strategy, whose model inspired Metaplanet's pivot. The firm announced a plan to raise approximately $5.3–5.4 billion via stock acquisition rights—the largest warrant issuance in Japan—to scale its bitcoin holdings to 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027. Metaplanet previously outlined a target of 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026, which has since been superseded by the more ambitious 100,000 BTC milestone for next year. ADVERTISEMENT Metaplanet's CEO, Simon Gerovich—a former Goldman Sachs derivatives trader—told investors that Bitcoin serves as a hedge against a weakening yen, prolonged negative interest rates, and rising concerns over sovereign debt, setting it apart from traditional safe‑haven assets such as government bonds. This reflects broader market trends: analysts at Bitwise and Bitfinex suggest high sovereign bond default probabilities and consolidation above cost basis support further upside for Bitcoin prices. Metaplanet's strategy, dubbed the '555 Million Plan' and following its earlier '21 Million Plan', channels nearly all funds raised into bitcoin purchases while maintaining flexibility to adjust funding based on market conditions and shareholder dilution safeguards. Its holdings, valued at close to $1 billion, now compare with those of Strategy, which boasts over 580,000 BTC, and ranks first among corporate holders. Investor reactions have been swift: Metaplanet's stock surged 15–22 per cent following the acquisition announcement and financing plan, underscoring strong market appetite for its bold strategy. Still, scepticism remains; industry analysts such as Standard Chartered caution that corporate reliance on Bitcoin may heighten balance‑sheet risk during market downturns and raise concerns about overvaluation in proxy‑stock structures. This aggressive accumulation mirrors industry-wide dynamics. Over 60 public companies now hold more than 3 per cent of Bitcoin's total supply, with estimates suggesting corporate demand may channel up to $330 billion into Bitcoin by 2029. In this environment, Metaplanet is positioning itself as Asia's counterpart to MicroStrategy, not only through fearless accumulation but also via initiatives like the forthcoming 'Bitcoin Hotel' in Tokyo and educational outreach through its Japanese licence of Bitcoin Magazine. Nevertheless, experts warn that this model carries heightened exposure to Bitcoin's extreme volatility, potential regulatory shifts, and macroeconomic undercurrents. While some view Metaplanet as a pioneer advancing institutional acceptance of crypto, others argue the strategy intensifies concentration risks within corporate treasuries.

Bank of Japan pivot to QE may fuel Bitcoin rally — Arthur Hayes

The Bank of Japan's (BOJ) upcoming monetary policy meeting in June may provide the next significant catalyst for global risk assets like stocks and cryptocurrencies. The BoJ is set to take its next interest rate decision at its upcoming monetary policy meeting on June 16–17. The central bank may provide the next significant catalyst for Bitcoin and other risk assets if it pivots to quantitative easing (QE), according to Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX and chief investment officer of Maelstrom. 'If the BOJ delays QT, and restarts selected QE at its June meeting risk assets are going to fly,' Hayes wrote in a June 10 X post. QE refers to central banks buying bonds and pumping money into the economy to lower interest rates and encourage spending during difficult financial conditions. On July 31, 2024, the Bank of Japan introduced a plan to cut government bond purchases by 400 billion yen per quarter, starting in August 2024. The quantitative tightening plan is set for an interim assessment period at the upcoming meeting on June 16, signaling a potential opportunity to pivot. BoJ officials are reportedly discussing making smaller reductions to the bank's bond buying, from the current 400 billion to 200 billion yen per quarter, starting from April 2027, unnamed sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. Japanese bond market crisis was the catalyst for Bitcoin's $112,000 high Bitcoin rose to the $112,000 all-time high on May 22, two days after the 30-year yield on Japanese bonds reached a new all-time high of 3.185% on May 20, 2025. The concerns around Japan's sovereign bond market inspired institutions to reconsider Bitcoin's role as a hedge against sovereign default risks, according to Bitwise's head of European research, André Dragosch. 'Perceived default risk continues rising, yields continue rising? This is a rough benchmark of why Bitcoin could be heading toward $200,000,' Dragosch told Cointelegraph, adding that Bitcoin is 'free from counterparty risk.' Government bonds are typically considered safe-haven assets. But when yields rise sharply, it often signals investor concerns about fiscal sustainability and repayment risk. Source:

Crypto CFD as a safe, flexible and efficient trading alternative: explained by Octa broker

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – Media OutReach Newswire – 11 June 2025 – Bitcoin keeps reaching new ATHs (All-Time Highs) in 2025 and fosters bullish market sentiments, yet volatility remains significant. This ramps up the risks for crypto traders, who use traditional spot trading tools. Experts at Octa Broker explain how CFDs—Contracts for Difference—allow traders to decrease risk exposure while offering more trading opportunities. The majority of crypto traders believe the market will remain bullish in 2025. Bitcoin shows new ATHs, which stimulates altcoin price increases. The Trump administration's crypto-friendly policies are often perceived as triggers for crypto market growth. Yet, despite the crypto-positive U.S. president and the increasing Bitcoin price, the market remains relatively unstable and prone to significant volatility. Disruptive crypto market and its risks for spot traders During the past six months, the crypto market has suffered significant turbulence. For example, at the end of 2024, the market capitalisation surpassed $1.6 trillion (Bitcoin excluded), only to later drop by 41% to $950 billion in Q1 2025. At the same time, venture capital investments returned to the levels of 2017-2018. Due to such negative dynamics, macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainty, and a more restrictive monetary policy, reputable crypto experts like Coinbase institutional assumed that a crypto winter took place instead of the anticipated bull run and an alt season. ADVERTISEMENT Since Q1 2025 showed the worst first-quarter performance in seven years with a dominating downtrend and high volatility, crypto traders struggled to identify potential trades and faced increased risks. What is more, funds were more vulnerable due to increased cyber threats. Chainalysis discovered a 60% rise in crypto hacks in Q1 2025. The total value of lost assets surpassed $2.2 billion. Traders suffered because of exploited protocols, key mismanagement, and mere phishing attacks. CFDs to combat risks for spot traders CFDs are overall a safer, more flexible and affordable alternative to traditional tools offered by crypto exchanges. While spot trading limits traders to capitalising on cryptocurrency price increases, CFDs allow them to benefit from the price difference between entry and exit positions. The trend doesn't matter: one can open long positions, assuming price increases, and short ones, expecting an asset value to decrease. Moreover, when opening a contract, a trader doesn't purchase a token. Such an approach allows crypto traders to eliminate several risks. Limited trading opportunities Traditional trading tools of the spot market imply that traders purchase an asset at a lower price and then sell it when the value increases. Doing so requires freezing funds until the cryptocurrency is sold. In times of high volatility and downtrend, traders end up in a situation where their trading opportunities are scarce, especially if they invested all their finances before the bearish trend suddenly began. Crypto CFDs don't limit potential trades to the bullish market only: traders can also open positions to benefit from potential asset price decreases. High market entry requirements Owning an asset requires significant finances to enter the crypto market. CFDs offer traders leverage: a financial tool that requires a margin, a relatively small deposit, to open a trade for a larger amount of crypto. As a result, traders can enter a crypto market with far fewer resources. The trade conditions are transparent and competitive. Regulated brokers like Octa provide flexible leverage and low spreads on CFD pairs specified before trade opening. Crypto ownership risks Since CFDs eliminate the need for direct asset ownership, traders reduce the risk of token losses or theft. There is no need to manage hot or cold wallet accesses, including private keys, mind faulty smart contracts, or exchange security. CFDs are processed across broker infrastructure, which is regulated by reputable financial institutions. They require brokers to set up a reliable trading environment, adhere to responsible trading policies, and provide transparent operations. ADVERTISEMENT Additional benefits of CFDs for active traders CFDs are known as a more efficient financial tool, especially in times of market volatility. CFD brokers provide access to a wide variety of assets beyond the crypto landscape, thus allowing traders to diversify their portfolios with currency pairs, commodities, and indices. For instance, Octa Broker offers CFDs on over 30 popular digital assets: fiat currency pairs, global indices, commodities, stock derivatives, and shares. All of them are traded across a transparent ecosystem where traders are aware of leverage, fees, and spreads before opening a trade. This enhances risk management and allows to better calculate risks and adjust them, if necessary, before market entry. Summing up CFDs allow traders to efficiently combat risk exposure, which is inevitable when operating with traditional crypto trading tools. When entering a contract, one can benefit from a bullish and bearish market and navigate across a transparent environment without actually owning the asset. This also allows traders to minimise security risks like asset theft or loss and facilitates entry into the crypto market. Moreover, CFDs provide access to various asset types that aren't limited to cryptocurrencies. Traders can diversify their portfolio and opt for a wider variety of assets to enhance risk management. ___ Disclaimer: This content is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute investment advice, a recommendation, or an offer to engage in any investment activity.
