Mirra Andreeva defeated former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina to reach the final of the Dubai Tennis Championships.The 17-year-old Russian beat the 2022 Wimbledon winner 6-4 4-6 6-3, winning the last five games in a row from 3-1 down in the decider.Andreeva became the youngest player to reach the semi-finals of the tournament by eliminating world number two Iga Swiatek in straight sets on Thursday.Having beaten Marketa Vondrousova in the second round, Andreeva is the youngest player to beat three Grand Slam champions in a single tournament since her compatriot Maria Sharapova did so at the WTA Finals in 2004.Andreeva will look to win the second title of her career against Denmark's Clara Tauson, who defeated Karolina Muchova of Czech Republic 6-4 6-7 (4-7) 6-3 in the other semi-final.Tauson, who knocked out world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the last 16, needed almost three hours to defeat Muchova and reach her first WTA 1000 final.

National Biography adds John Dawes and Michael Peckham
The Gwent pair are among 238 people added to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography after they died in 2021. Dawes is the only man to have led the British and Irish Lions to a series victory in New Zealand after being skipper on the 1971 tour. The Abercarn-born centre won 22 caps for Wales after his debut in 1964 and was captain for the Grand Slam triumph in 1971 before heading off to face the All Blacks. Dawes became national coach and won the Five Nations title four times, two of them Grand Slams, and won four triple crowns. He coached the Lions in New Zealand in 1977. He played for Newbridge and went on to become a London Welsh captain and coach. Panteg-born Peckham was the son of a railway locomotive fireman and won a scholarship from Monmouth Grammar School to Cambridge. That started a career as a distinguished oncologist whose multidisciplinary treatment programmes improved survival rates and led to the wider acceptance of holistic care models for cancer patients. A strong believer in the application of evidence-based medicine, he was the first NHS director of research and development. The Oxford DNB is a national record of people who have shaped British history. From June 2025, the dictionary includes biographies of more than 63,000 individuals, written by more than 14,000 contributors, and with more than 12,000 portrait images. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, is included in the new edition with Queen Elizabeth II's entry to be published next year. Other prominent figures added include politicians Shirley Williams, Austin Mitchell and Sir David Amess, entrepreneurs Sir Clive Sinclair and Sir David Barclay, Nobel prize-winner Antony Hewish, actors Sir Antony Sher and Helen McCrory, footballers Jimmy Greaves and Ian St John, journalist Katharine Whitehorn, broadcaster Janice Long, anti-deportation activist Anwar Ditta and charity fundraiser Captain Sir Tom Moore.

But this year the chic woven headwear is making way for an array of trendy bucket hats while denim jackets now sit comfortably alongside heritage blazers. Launching today (Thurs), the All England Lawn Tennis Club's 2025 collection marks its biggest shift from genteel, old-school chic towards the fashion-forward, semi-formal 'tenniscore' aesthetic. The 'Court to Club' capsule is said to be a curated edit designed to allow customers to move seamlessly from court-side to post-match socialising and country club style . The collection comprises 174 pieces, priced from £10 to £155, and includes items such as navy and green hoodies, a beanie, £139 striped joggers, and crepe jackets. It has ten different styles of bucket hats on offer - compared to just the one Panama - having only introduced the item for the first time last year. This includes a £39 white option, a new addition to the popular strawberry collection first launched in 2024 in a nod to the SW19 staple - which is embroidered with a giant strawberry. The collection also draws on the Club's rich heritage with a newly developed Wimbledon wordmark, inspired by a flowing script discovered on an early 20th-century croquet box from the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum's archives.
