Cowboys' Jones Offers Micah Parsons $200 Million Contract Update
The long saga that is the contract situation of Dallas Cowboys' pass-rushing linebacker Micah Parsons doesn't appear to be any closer to being completed than it was a month ago.
With a contract set to make Micah the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, naturally, a deal of that magnitude takes time...but the longer it goes, the more nervous fans sit in their seats.

They want a Parsons deal as soon as possible.
And Cowboys COO Stephen Jones thinks something will get done...just not right now.
"I don't comment on close or far away or any of that," Jones said. "Those things, usually, when the right things come together and everybody's ready to do a deal, then it happens. Certainly, we want Micah here, and he knows we want him here, and I think ultimately, we'll get something done."

So it appears that a contract will get done with Micah and the Cowboys, it will just take time. ... with sources having told CowboysCountry.com that Jerry Jones and Micah have had discussions mentioning a deal for five years worth $200 million.

But as we saw last offseason with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, these contract situations can be a distraction, and for a new leader of the locker room in Micah, no doubt, he wants to get his deal done before training camp so he can focus on football.
Whether that happens or not is unknown, but going by Stephen's words, there is a positive thought to Parsons' potential extension.
So it isn't closer than it was a month ago, but the Cowboys want No. 11 to stick around. The best way to do that and eliminate all of these unnecessary headlines is to put pen to paper and sort out Micah's future.
Which will happen in due time...just not imminently.

Gabby Thomas confronted a heckler online after a man posted multiple videos on social media that showed him shouting disparaging remarks, including racial comments, directed at the three-time Olympic gold medalist at a recent track event. He claimed the heckling helped him win an online wager. Thomas competed at a Grand Slam Track event in Philadelphia over the weekend, finishing second in the 200-meter sprint and fourth in the 100-meter sprint. But her performance was seemingly overshadowed by the chaos that unfolded at the track. A man on X posted a video that appeared to show him in the stands near the starting line shouting several messages at Thomas. Grand Slam Track released a statement to Front Office Sports after those events announcing it was investigating the heckler for "reprehensible behavior." "Grand Slam Track is conducting a full investigation into the reprehensible behavior captured on video," spokesperson Callum Squires said in a statement. "We are working to identify the individual involved and will take appropriate action as necessary. We will implement additional safeguards to help prevent incidents like this in the future. Let us be clear, despicable behavior like this will not be tolerated." FanDuel also told ESPN the bettor has been banned from using its platform. "FanDuel condemns in the strongest terms abusive behavior directed towards athletes," a spokesperson told the outlet. "Threatening or harassing athletes is unacceptable and has no place in sports. This customer is no longer able to wager with FanDuel." Despite the interaction, Thomas posted another message on X thanking her supporters. "Grateful beyond words for the love and support!! Nebraska is the latest state to ban transgender students from girls' sports
Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen signed into law Wednesday a measure banning transgender students from girls' sports, making the state the latest to keep transgender athletes from competing on women's and girls' teams. Pillen signed the law flanked by dozens of lawmakers, women athletes and other advocates — including former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines, who has made a name for herself as a vocal advocate of banning transgender athletes from women's sports. The measure passed by the Nebraska Legislature last week broke a filibuster by a single vote cast along party lines. It was pared down from its initial form, which also sought to bar transgender students from using bathrooms and locker rooms corresponding with their gender identity. Sponsors agreed to drop the bathroom and locker room ban when one Republican — Omaha Sen. Merv Riepe — declared he would vote against it otherwise. The measure was first introduced in 2023 by then-freshman Sen. Kathleen Kauth, but failed to advance as lawmakers angrily argued over Kauth's other bill that sought to bar gender-affirming care for transgender minors under the age of 19. An amended version that banned gender-affirming surgery — but not all gender-affirming care — for minors later passed and was enacted that year. On Wednesday, Kauth promised to revive her bathroom and locker room ban next year, reiterating her rejection that people can determine their own gender. 'Men are men and women are women,' she said, and urged voters in Riepe's district to pressure him to support it. Republicans behind the sports ban say it protects women and girls and their ability to fairly compete in sports. Opponents say with so few transgender students seeking to participate in sports, the measure is a solution in search of a problem. Fewer than 10 transgender students have applied to participate in middle school and high school sports in the state since 2018, the Nebraska School Activities Association said Wednesday. At least 24 other states have adopted similar bans. President Donald Trump also signed an executive order this year intended to dictate which sports competitions transgender athletes can enter and has battled in court with Maine over that state's allowing transgender athletes in girls' and women's sports. The American Civil Liberties Union of Nebraska denounced the measure. ACLU Nebraska Executive Director Mindy Rush Chipman said the ban 'slams the door shut' for some transgender students to fully participate in their school communities. 'This ban will only create problems, not solve any,' Rush Chipman said, adding that 'the constant targeting of LGBTQ+ Nebraskans must stop.'
