Gurugram witnesses waterlogging, traffic jams and power outage after rain
The traffic police were seen trying to clear out congestion on the roads even during rain.
The problem of power outage was also reported from different areas of the city.
"Despite repeated issues, the MCG and GMDA have not effectively cleaned the drainage systems. Crores of rupees spent in the name of waterlogging management but in Gurugram even light rain led to waterlogging", said Arjun Goyal, a student of LLB, who was stuck in the traffic jam near Rajiv chowk.
A senior traffic police officer said that in order to ensure that drivers do not face any problems due to waterlogging at various places, officers are on duty to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Tour operators advise against Himachal, Uttarakhand travel amid rains
Amid flash floods in parts of Himachal Pradesh and a cloudburst in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, tour operators are advising people to avoid travelling to the northern mountain states. 'Monsoon time is not the best time to visit states like Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. We generally advise people to avoid travelling to these states during the monsoon season,' said Ravi Gosain, president of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO). The caution comes during a strong season for short-haul travel ahead of the Independence Day long weekend. Several leisure destinations in the northern hills, including Shimla and Chail, had been expecting high occupancy for the August 15–17 weekend. 'We sympathise with those who have suffered losses and hope the government will step up relief and rescue measures,' Gosain said. 'My cousins and I had planned to visit Kasauli for the upcoming Rakhi weekend, but seeing the weather conditions, we have cancelled the trip and are now exploring other places in Rajasthan,' said Shubham Sharma, a 29-year-old engineer based in Delhi. 'Last year in Himachal there were flash floods leading to loss of lives and damage to property. This year we have a cloudburst in Uttarakhand. These states are vulnerable to natural calamities during the rainy season, and people should wait for better weather to visit,' he added. After flash floods ravaged Dharali in Uttarkashi district on Tuesday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday visited the village to review relief and rescue operations. He met affected families and assured them of all possible assistance. Over 150 people have been rescued, while several remain missing, including a tourist group from Kerala. In Himachal, the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra was suspended on Tuesday following heavy rainfall and damage along the route. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several districts of Himachal after the Uttarakhand cloudburst.

Uttarkashi flash flood: Rescuers at work despite tough situation
New Delhi: A day after Dharali-Harshil disaster in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi, rescuers faced a tough situation to reach the three sites that faced destruction. Damaged roads, rough weather, landslides and poor connectivity continued to be a challenge. Army, along with other agencies, on Wednesday launched a coordinated Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operation. The region is currently cut off from both north and south due to multiple road breaches and a collapsed bridge, they said. Till late Wednesday evening, the state administration was in no position to give any details of the scale of destruction in Dharali Bazar which had witnessed the collapse of several hotels, houses and homestays after being hit by the heavy, fast-falling debris. Vinod Kumar Suman, secretary, disaster management, said there are reports about 15 people missing in the Dharali disaster . Two bodies have been recovered so far. Teams of Army, NDRF, SDRF, ITBP are carrying out rescue and search operations at the spot. The situation improved in the afternoon following the successful landing of two helicopters carrying food and relief material in Dharali region. Another major challenge is restoration of communication networks. Chief minister Pushkar Dhami, who reached Uttarkashi early morning to monitor the rescue operation, will stay on Wednesday night. According to a SDRF press release, 135 people have been rescued. The 11 army jawans, who have received serious injuries, were airlifted to Matali hospital for medical treatment.

NSDMA issues heavy rainfall alert for Nagaland till Sat
Dimapur: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) on Wednesday said the state will experience heavy rainfall across most of the districts till Saturday. A release from NSDMA said Peren, Dimapur, Kohima, Wokha, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon and Tuensang are expected to receive very heavy rainfall on Thursday and Friday. These showers may be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at localised places, NSDMA said. The statement further urged people to exercise caution and take necessary measures as lightning strikes and high winds may disrupt communication and connectivity. It said Nagaland's lowland and foothill districts, including Dimapur, Niuland, Chumukedima, Bhandari, Pangti, Tizit and Tuli were vulnerable to inundation, waterlogging and flash floods due to possibility of excessive precipitation in the hill sector. The statement also directed all the district disaster management authorities and other line departments to remain on high alert to safeguard lives and property during monsoon.
