Tej Pratap Yadav jumps into the Bihar assembly poll 2 months after RJD expulsion, to contest from Mahua
He is currently the MLA of Hasanpur seat in Samastipur district.
Speaking to reporters at his residence here on Saturday evening, he said, "Yes, this time, I will contest the elections from Mahua assembly seat as an Independent candidate. My opponents must have started to feel an itch."
"I have people's support... a large number of people are now connected with my 'Team Tej Pratap Yadav', a social media platform to reach out to people," he added.
He further claimed that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would not retain his post after the assembly polls.
"I am confident that 'chacha' (Nitish) will not become the CM... those who would form the government, if they talk about youths, employment, education, and health, Tej Pratap Yadav will stand with them," he said.
The former Bihar minister was expelled from the party on May 25 by his father Lalu Prasad for six years.
He was expelled a day after he reportedly confessed on social media to being "in a relationship" with a woman named Anushka.
He, however, later deleted the Facebook post with a claim that his page was "hacked". Lalu Prasad also disowned Tej Pratap due to his "irresponsible behaviour".
A few days after his expulsion from the party, Tej Pratap had alleged that there was a "conspiracy" to drive a wedge between him and his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav.
He had voiced his sentiments in a couple of posts on his X handle, blaming the crisis on 'Jaichand', a metaphor for traitors.
His expulsion came barely a few months ahead of the Bihar assembly polls, which the RJD will fight under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav. Born to Prasad and Rabri Devi, both former chief ministers of Bihar, the two brothers are among four of nine siblings active in politics.
Tej Pratap Yadav had made his political debut in the assembly polls of 2015, and is a second-term MLA with two brief stints in the state cabinet.

‘There can be no Hindu terrorists': BJP leaders hail Malegaon verdict
BJP leaders on Thursday welcomed the 2008 Malegaon blast verdict, which acquitted all seven accused, including former BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur. Mumbai: Former BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur leaves the special NIA court after a hearing on the 2008 Malegaon blast case, in Mumbai, May 8, 2025. (PTI Photo) (PTI05_08_2025_000100B)(PTI) Speaking to ANI, BJP MP from Gorakhpur, Ravi Kishan, expressed sympathy for the accused and their families. 'We don't know whether to be happy or sad. My sister, Sadhvi Pragya, used to sit next to me in Parliament. Her entire body is paralysed. What must the accused and their families have gone through, having faced such false allegations... Who will return those 17 years?' Ravi Kishan said. 'The Congress, which coined the term 'Bhagwa Terrorism', must answer. They are all accountable... They have to answer to 100 crore Hindus — with what proof did they start speaking of 'Bhagwa Terrorism'? Who was the mastermind behind this narrative?... The Home Minister said it yesterday, and it has been proven today that a Hindu cannot be a terrorist... We will demand an answer in Parliament on the use of the term 'Bhagwa Terrorism',' he added. Pragya Singh Thakur, a former BJP MP, was among the seven acquitted by the special NIA court in Mumbai in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. Special NIA Judge AK Lahoti said that there was no "cogent and reliable" evidence to justify a conviction. The court observed that the prosecution "has failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt." The blast, which occurred on September 29, 2008, near a mosque in Malegaon, Maharashtra, claimed six lives and left around 100 injured. What did the court say about the alleged 2008 bike blast? Judge AK Lahoti, while delivering the verdict, stated that the prosecution could not establish that the bomb was placed in the specific motorcycle, according to ANI. 'The bike allegedly involved in the blast did not have a clear chassis number. Prosecution could not prove that it was in (Pragya Thakur's) possession immediately before the blast,' the court observed. Commenting on the investigation, the court noted significant lapses, saying, 'No sketch of the spot was done by the investigation officer while doing the panchnama. No fingerprint, dump data or anything else was collected for the spot. The samples were contaminated, so the reports can't be conclusive and are not reliable.' Regarding co-accused Lt Colonel Shrikant Prasad Purohit, the court said, 'There is no evidence of storing or assembling the explosives in Shrikant Prasad Purohit's residence,' leading to his acquittal as well. On the applicability of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the court ruled that it could not be invoked in this case, stating, 'Sanction was not taken as per rules.' It further remarked, "Both the sanction orders of the UAPA in the case are defective." The court also found inconsistencies in the reported number of injured, concluding that it was 95 and not 101 as previously claimed. It mentioned irregularities in medical documentation, noting 'manipulation in some medical certificates.' The case had been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2011, after initially being investigated by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). All accused had been out on bail prior to the verdict.

Cincinnati horror: Councilwoman Victoria Parks under fire for remark on downtown assault; users demand resignation
City Councilwoman Victoria Parks is facing mounting criticism after a comment from her Facebook account appeared to defend a violent attack in downtown Cincinnati last weekend. The backlash erupted after a Facebook user, Leohna Alia La JCannon, posted a video showing a brutal assault on two individuals near the corner of Fourth and Elm Street in the early hours of Saturday morning. In response to the video, a comment linked to Parks' Facebook account read, 'They begged for that beat down!' The comment continued, 'I am grateful for the whole story.' The account in question appears to belong to Parks and lists her job title as 'City Council Member at City of Cincinnati Government.' It also mentions her past roles as Commissioner at Hamilton County, Ohio Government, and as Chief of Staff to Hamilton County Commissioner Todd Portune, details that match her official biography on the City of Cincinnati website, the New York Post reported. Cincinnati's city council operates as a nonpartisan body, but all nine members, including Parks, have been endorsed by the local Democratic party. Parks appears to have at least two other Facebook accounts, one last active in May and another that has not been updated since 2022. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like TV providers are furious: this gadget gives you access to all channels Techno Mag Learn More Undo The page linked to the controversial comment includes several years of posts, mostly about her professional background. The comment sparked widespread outrage online, with screenshots being circulated rapidly across social media platforms. 'Cincinnati Councilwoman Victoria Parks must resign immediately! Defending violent criminals who viciously beat innocent people is disgusting,' Ohio's 39th District State Representative Phil Plummer posted on X. 'Her words 'They begged for that beat down!' are outrageous. Prosecutors must charge the attackers with a hate crime. We must protect our streets!' Other posts included strongly worded messages like, 'You're a racist pig, Victoria Parks,' and 'THIS IS INSANE!' with several users demanding her resignation. The attack captured in the video shows a group savagely beating two people, including a woman who was knocked unconscious and left lying in the street. The incident took place in Cincinnati's central business district and has been widely condemned by city residents and officials alike. In her official biography, Parks highlighted her role in 'passing Racism as a Public Health Crisis' during her time working with the Hamilton County government. She also claims credit for introducing and passing Juneteenth as a paid holiday for county employees. Parks announced in January that she would not seek reelection and plans to retire at the end of her current term. Cincinnati Fraternal Order of Police President Ken Kober criticised the comment, telling Fox News Digital, 'It's unconscionable that an elected official would be celebrating violence in the very city she was voted to serve." "This highlights the poor political environment that police officers, residents and visitors are currently enduring. Thankfully, there's an election in November. I urge voters to vote for change!' the officer further added. Parks has not responded to multiple requests for comment. Mollie Lair, Communications Director for the Cincinnati City Manager's Office, confirmed she viewed the Facebook post in person at City Hall but declined to comment.
