Tyler Perry accused of sexual harassment and workplace gender violence
Tyler Perry has been accused of sexual harassment, workplace gender violence and sexual assault in a lawsuit from an actor who said the media mogul used his influence and power to create a 'coercive, sexually exploitative dynamic'.
In the suit filed in Los Angeles last week and first reported on Tuesday, Derek Dixon, who worked on Tyler Perry's shows Ruthless and The Oval, said Perry promised career advancement but subjected him to 'escalating sexual harassment, assault and battery'. Dixon alleges he was subjected to harassment and abuse by Perry while he 'held direct control over his employment, compensation, and creative opportunities' and that he faced retaliation when he did not respond favorably to his advances.
Perry, the billionaire star of the Madea film series, is one of the most powerful figures in Hollywood with his own massive film and TV studios in Atlanta and a partnership with the Oprah Winfrey Network. Major studios frequently film movies on his lot.
He has denied the allegations and his lawyer described it as a 'shakedown'.
'This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam,' Matthew Boyd, Perry's attorney, said in a statement to media. 'But Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail.'
The lawsuit alleges that Perry has 'a troubling pattern of exploiting vulnerable male actors and employees' and that like 'Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, R. Kelly, Sean 'P-Diddy' Combs… Mr. Perry's success has led him to believe that money and influence can get him whatever he wants.'
'Tyler Perry has been using his power and influence to molest, abuse, and sexually assault impressionable and vulnerable employees and actors who look to him for guidance and mentorship,' the lawsuit states.
The pair met in 2019 while Dixon, who was working for an events company, was at an opening party for Perry's studio, according to the lawsuit. Perry allegedly 'picked [Dixon] out of a crowd of employees present at the Party, and began asking [Dixon] questions about his employment status, and whether Plaintiff was an actor.' He began texting Dixon, first asking him about his goals and career aspirations, the suit states.
He offered Dixon a job on one of his television shows with the promise that 'it was a small role that could get a lot bigger,' according to the lawsuit, 'thereby setting up the first stage in a series of escalating quid pro quo offers' .
Shortly after his first acting job, Dixon was invited to Perry's home where they drank and made conversation. Perry urged him not to drive home, according to the suit. 'Dixon agreed and was escorted to a separate guest room, not knowing that this was a ruse to allow Perry to assault Dixon. Dixon was tired and did not have pajamas and so he got into bed only wearing underwear. Before he knew what was happening, Dixon felt someone else slip into bed behind him and start rubbing Dixon's body around his inner thigh in a highly sexual and suggestive manner.' skip past newsletter promotion

The lawsuit describes multiple incidents of sexual harassment and assault that unfolded over several years. 'On multiple occasions, Mr. Perry sexually assaulted Mr. Dixon, including one instance where he forcibly pulled off Mr. Dixon's clothing, groped his buttocks, and attempted to force himself on Dixon.'
The suit includes communications between the two, including flirtatious and sexually suggestive messages from Perry that Dixon appears to attempt to rebuff.
Dixon is seeking at least $260m in damages.

The Hollywood mogul, his gay lovers — and his fashion icon wife
B arry Diller sits at one end of an elegant conference room in the headquarters of his media empire, fielding questions about his sex life. 'I've been doing this now for about two weeks,' he says. His voice, a deep baritone, is incredulous. 'From the first hour, the first day, it's, 'Is he gay? Now is he?' ' Diller is 83 and worth $4.6 billion (£3.4 billion), according to Forbes. He was a Hollywood wunderkind who became, at 32, the head of Paramount Pictures. He later ran Twentieth Century Fox and founded, with Rupert Murdoch, the Fox television network. Then he became a mogul in his own right, taking over television networks and engaging in rollicking battles with rivals for control of Hollywood studios. From this conference room, high in his white-glass HQ, you can see the hills and dells of an island on stilts that he built in the Hudson River as a new public park. It changed the shape of Manhattan.

Charlie Woods hints at tension with dad Tiger in Father's Day message amid Vanessa Trump romance
In a heartful message written for Father's Day, amateur golfer Charlie Woods hinted that there may be some tension with his dad, Tiger Woods. Charlie, 16, wrote a letter to Tiger - who Daily Mail exclusively revealed this year is in a relationship with Vanessa Trump, Donald's ex-daughter-in-law - in a video posted to the account of the American Junior Golf Association. The son of Tiger and his ex-wife Elin Nordegren, Charlie and his sister Sam live in Palm Beach, Florida with their dad and attend The Benjamin School - where Charlie is on the golf team. As images from Charlie's recent Junior Golf win at the Team TaylorMade Invitational played, he narrated the message he wrote to his father. 'Thank you, Dad, for believing in me in times when I didn't even believe in myself, and for all the times when you have supported me no matter what I do,' Charlie wrote. 'Even though we argue a lot, I still cherish every moment and I would just like to say thank you for everything you have done for me.' Charlie didn't say exactly why he and his famous father argue - whether it's typical teenage-related angst or if it could have something to do with golf. Regardless, it's a kind gesture from the up-and-coming teenage golfer who saw his AJGA ranking jump from No. 606 to No. 14 after his TaylorMade win. It's been an eventful year for the Woods family after Tiger went public with his relationship with Vanessa Trump. That announcement came 10 days after exclusively broke the news that the golf icon was dating Donald Trump Jr.'s ex-wife. Alongside two pictures of the loved-up couple, Woods wrote: 'Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side! We look forward to our journey through life together. 'At this time we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts.' The couple have the blessing of the President, with Trump himself saying he was happy when he learned that they had become an item. 'He told me about it, and I said, 'Tiger, that's good, that's good. I'm very, happy for both.' But they just let them both be happy. Let them both be happy. They're both great,' Trump said. 'I love Tiger and I love Vanessa. He and I have a very special, very good relationship with Tiger. I played golf with him a couple of times over the last month, and he's a fantastic guy and a fantastic athlete.' The relationship has the blessing of the president - Trump paid tribute to the pair of them Additionally, Tiger's mother, Kultida, passed away in February - a devastating blow as the matriarch of the Woods family died at the age of 80. 'At this time we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts.' Tiger himself has been absent from the course after suffering an injury to his Achilles as he prepared for the Masters back in April. However, he was recently seen without a brace on his knee riding a golf cart while watching Charlie.
