Filipino Dental Technician Wins Dh100,000 in UAE Lottery
Richard Remolacio, 35, a dental technician, secured the third prize in the 'Lucky Day' category during last weekend's draw — only his second time participating. He matched five 'Days' numbers and one 'Month' number, becoming one of just two winners in the category.
'I didn't actually expect that I would win,' Remolacio said, still in disbelief according to a report on Gulf News.
The UAE Lottery, which operates under the slogan 'Dare to Imagine,' offers the country's largest prize pool, including an unclaimed Dh100 million jackpot.
The next draw will be held on August 23. Tickets are available at www.theuaelottery.ae.

She credits her success to her national director, Cheryl Delgado; pageant mentor Ricky Ramirez Abad; Q&A coach Jesus Peñaflor Jr.; catwalk trainer Rodin Gilbert B. Flores Angelo Mendez; her close circle of supportive friends from Inspire; and renowned Filipino designers Val Taguba, Fundador Cardenas Blaza, and Bepz Joseph Torres, who dressed her in creations that married elegance with purpose. PH Consulate in Dubai to host Baybayin calligraphy workshop for Buwan ng Wika
Ever wondered what the ancient Filipino script Baybayin looks like and how it can connect you to your roots? This August 15, the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai will hold a Baybayin calligraphy workshop as part of this year's Buwan ng Wika celebration. The event, titled Katha, aims to introduce participants to the pre-Spanish script of the Filipinos, a writing system now under threat of extinction. It will feature Mr. Gino Banola, a Baybayin calligrapher and Filipino martial artist, and will commence at 1:30 PM. The workshop is part of the Consulate's year-long Labindalawa campaign, which celebrates Filipino culture and heritage in the UAE. The Consulate said the workshop provides a space where 'artistry meets advocacy' for language preservation. 'By practicing Baybayin, participants engage in a form of cultural stewardship, keeping alive the visual identity of a script that once connected communities and now stands as a symbol for the safeguarding of all Philippine tongues under threat,' the Consulate said. The workshop emphasizes that language is not only spoken, but it also lives in written form, where symbols and shapes carry the memories, identity, and history of a people.

Meet the humanoid robot spotted running around Dubai
You may have seen videos or pictures of a human-like robot walking across the roads of Dubai, or even running in Dubai mall. The robot has even met Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. So what actually is the robot and what can it do? Meet Unitree G1, a humanoid robot that comes with a trusty companion, a robot dog. The robot comes from Unitree, a China-based robotics firm and their Middle East partner Ednex Automation. The details: The robot is about 130cms tall and weighs about 35kg, it's made up of 43 pieces which gives it a lot of freedom for movement. Battery life is about 2 hours and it can move at about 2 metres per second. What can it do? The G1 robot can walk, run jump and squat like a human. It has three 'fingers' and can grip objects. There is a video on the Unitree website of it opening a bottle of Coca-Cola and crushing nuts. The robot has 360 degree cameras enabling it to take in its environment. It can interact with humans in the form of waving and it also has a microphone and speaker to listen and communicate. Where to find it? Keep your eyes peeled and you might be able to spot the robot walking around Dubai. According to WAM, it will soon be in the Museum of the Future for tourists and residents to witness.
