
49% of Saudi internet users spend 7 hours a day online

RIYADH — Approximately 48.6 percent of internet users in Saudi Arabia spend seven hours or more a day using the internet, according to the "Saudi Internet 2024" report, published by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission. The report highlighted continued growth in demand for digital content and e-services.
According to the report, peak usage during the day occurs between 9 pm and 11 pm. The internet usage in the year reached its highest levels in the month of March. The weekly day when people using the internet most is Saturday.
The report indicated that the internet is mostly used at home with a percentage of 87.9, and the usage during travel comes next to it with 79.3 percent, and then at work with 41.7 percent.
As for the type of devices used, mobile phones topped the list reaching 99.4 percent, followed by computers 50.7percent, and tablets 37.5 percent.
Regarding operating systems, Android accounts for 55 percent of phone usage, compared to 45 percent for iOS. Windows dominates computers at 91.1 percent, compared to 7.5 percent for Macintosh devices and 1.4 percent for Linux.
The report highlights the digital transformation taking place in the Kingdom and the significant role the internet plays in various aspects of daily life, whether in work, education, or entertainment.

Saudi Arabia grants 30-day grace period to extend expired visit visas for final departure
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) announced that it started implementing a new initiative allowing the extension of all expired visit visas—regardless of type or designation—for the purpose of final departure from Saudi Arabia. The grace period began on 1 Muharram 1447 AH, corresponding to June 26, 2025 and the visa holders will have 30 days to regularize their status after paying all applicable fees and penalties to facilitate their exit from the Kingdom. The initiative is accessible through the 'Tawasul' service on the Ministry of Interior's 'Absher' electronic platform. Jawazat urged all the concerned beneficiaries to take advantage of this limited-time opportunity before the expiry of the deadline.

New station opens on Riyadh Metro's Orange Line
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Public Transport Authority in Riyadh announced the operation of a new station on the Riyadh Metro's Orange Line on Thursday. The authority said that the operation of the Hassan bin Thabet Street Station would enhance the public transport network and further facilitate the movement of residents and visitors in the capital. The Orange Line is the third line of the Riyadh Metro that stretches across Riyadh from west to east, running from Jeddah Road to the Second Eastern Ring Road near Khashm Al-Aan, covering a total length of 41 kilometers. It is noteworthy that the Riyadh Metro is a central component of the Saudi capital's urban transport development plan. It spans six main lines and 176 kilometers, connecting neighborhoods across the city through 85 stations, including eight major hubs that interlink the entire network.
