Titans' Jackson Slater has a higher Madden rating than No. 1 pick Cam Ward
Earlier on Tuesday, the beta rankings for the Tennessee Titans for Madden 26 were leaked. The team found its way out of the NFL's basement, coming in at No. 26. This ranking somewhat mirrors the real-life expectations around the franchise, who see themselves as having made significant upgrades during the offseason and should be much improved from the disastrous 2024 team that was put on the field.
Now, a few hours later, the individual player rankings have begun to trickle out, and the first batch to hit social media was the Titans' 2025 rookie class.
If you thought Cam Ward, the league's first-overall selection in the 2025 NFL draft, would be at the top of the list, you'd be highly mistaken. Nope, Ward did not top the list; that honor would go to fifth-round selection Jackson Slater, the small-school guard who will likely be competing for a depth role as a rookie.
The rankings even came as a surprise to Slater, who appeared to have a good laugh about it on social media.
Slater should be surprised, as the rating of Ward with only a 71 overall score is low, especially considering his pedigree as the No. 1 pick. But, much like the rest of the disrespect he has received during and after the draft season, it is likely that it will be used as fuel to motivate him even more.
These player rankings mean little in the grand scheme of the NFL, but they do touch on the potential Slater brings to the interior of the offensive line. Coming from Sacramento State, Slater more than held his own at the Senior Bowl and eventually found his way to Nashville via the draft. He should come in and help solidify the depth along the interior of the offensive line as a rookie.

Denver Broncos Believe They're Better Than Dynastic Kansas City Chiefs in AFC West Rivalry
Denver Broncos Believe They're Better Than Dynastic Kansas City Chiefs in AFC West Rivalry originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Denver Broncos are building something. Not even the most avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs can argue against that. Advertisement But are they this season so built up that they are going to match the Chiefs, win the AFC West and end the KC dynasty? That seems far-fetched. But ... We suppose it justifiably starts with the Broncos themselves believing it can be done. And a Denver insider says Broncos head coach Sean Payton has his team thinking just that. In a segment on Denver's 104.3 The Fan, longtime Broncos reporter Mike Klis said that the Broncos are confident about their chances to take down the nine-time defending division champions. "I know inside the locker room, Sean Payton has them believing they're better than the Chiefs now," Klis said. Advertisement Klis said Payton has instilled a mentality of "swag" in his club, which to its credit did engineer for itself a 2024 turnaround with a 10-7 record. Can that be improved upon? Some think Denver having ended the 2024 regular season by clinching a playoff berth with a 38-0 win over a Chiefs team that treated the outing like an exhibition game is a foundational building block. Again, that seems far-fetched; the Broncos know that KC was sitting most of the starters after having clinched the AFC's top seed for the playoffs. We will find out soon enough, and we will find out in a head-to-head manner, too. Advertisement Denver and Kansas City meet for the first time in 2025 in the Mile High City on Nov. 16, with the second meeting in Kansas City scheduled for Christmas night. "Whether we think this team is good, whether we think this team can win the AFC West, they believe it. Sean Payton's got them believing it," Klis said of the upstart Broncos. Chiefs' 2025 'Standard' Doesn't Change After Super Bowl Blowout
Chiefs' 2025 'Standard' Doesn't Change After Super Bowl Blowout originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Kansas City Chiefs are no longer seen as surefire Super Bowl contenders, unlike they were in previous years, following the beatdown at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. Advertisement With question marks on the offensive line and at receiver, coupled with Travis Kelce's ability to bounce back in his 13th season, some have jumped off the Chiefs' bandwagon, thinking this team is no longer what it used to be. However, just because that is the feeling, it doesn't mean the standards we expect from them have changed. For former NFL receiver Harry Douglas, despite last year's failure, the standards must remain just as high as ever. "The standard in Kansas City is Super Bowl or bust," Douglas said on ESPN's GetUp. "So if they do not win a Super Bowl, yes, that season is a failure. That's not saying Patrick Mahomes as a quarterback is a failure, we understand his body of work, but the only thing they're searching for, especially coming off a loss last year in the Super Bowl, where Mahomes got sacked six times, yes, it is deemed a failure. If they don't win the Super Bowl in Kansas City, it's a failure." Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (15).Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images Is it really Super Bowl or bust? Advertisement We think so. There is still ample talent on this roster on both sides of the ball that gives us confidence in picking the Chiefs to make the playoffs, and as we know, once there, the shadow of Mahomes and Co. looms large over every other AFC team. Some aren't sold on the Chiefs in 2025, but despite that, winning the Super Bowl remains the only standard by which we can measure their success. Yes, the roster might not be as potent, and last year's Super Bowl loss might have tarnished their aura, but the standard that we and everyone hold them to means that anything other than a Super Bowl win will be seen as a colossal failure in the 2025 season. Steve Spagnuolo Pokes Fun At Chiefs' Travis Kelce
Steve Spagnuolo Pokes Fun At Chiefs' Travis Kelce originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Travis Kelce will play his 12th and final season in the NFL in 2025. Since entering the league in 2014, few people have the record of accomplishment that he holds to his name, especially at the tight end position. Advertisement Kelce will leave the game as arguably the greatest to every play his position, winning three Super Bowls and holding a number of individual accolades. There's no questioning how bright his star shines on the field. Looking back on his days before reaching the NFL, that excellence did not translate into the classroom. Kelce was far from an exemplary student athlete at Cincinnati, almost losing his scholarship at one point because of his shortcomings there and with some extracurricular activities. He ultimately got his act together, finding his way to maintain a 3.2 GPA that was enough to earn the nod from his coaches to continue his career. All of that is a now well documented story and one he took plenty of lessons from. But it did not save him from catching a lighthearted stray from Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. Advertisement The veteran coach appeared on Travis' "New Heights" podcast, where he took a jab at Kelce. "I value what I call 'football get it,'" Spagnuolo said. "Listen, you don't have to be a 4.0 student in college, I mean, I don't ask about GPAs, right? Trav wouldn't be able to play defense if we were asking about GPAs." That remark caught a hearty laugh from Travis and his brother Jason. Nonetheless, Spagnuolo and Kelce have been instrumental in the construction of this Chiefs dynasty. The coach joined Kansas City's staff in 2019 and has played a part in all three of the Chiefs' Super Bowl wins since then just as Travis has. Advertisement While the two do not work directly together on the practice field, that amount of time together and the heights reached in that time certainly forged some kind of meaningful relationship. All jokes aside, Spagnuolo will try to do everything in his power to have the Chiefs' defense operating at a high level once again to help the team send off Travis the right way.
