CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A motorcyclist killed in a crash last week in Chula Vista has been identified.
Josue Calderon Alcala, 47, of Chula Vista, was announced as the deceased, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
On the evening of April 16, authorities say a blue 2006 Kawasaki ZX-6R was traveling eastbound on East Orange Avenue when the rider hit the passenger side of a black 2023 Audi Q3 that was making a southbound turn on to Max Avenue from westbound East Orange.
The motorcyclist, Alcala, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Audi, a 34-year-old pregnant woman from Chula Vista, and one-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries.
The manner of the crash was determined as an accident, medical officials confirmed.
A GoFundMe has been set up for Alcala.

Fun-loving Nottingham dad dies just days before his wedding after e-scooter crash

A Nottingham man has died after colliding with a car door while riding an e-scooter, just days before he was due to get married. Scott Catton, 54, was involved in the crash in Ridgeway, Top Valley, on the evening of Thursday, June 5. The dad-of-one, who suffered a catastrophic head injury, died in hospital on Saturday afternoon, having been due to tie the knot with his long-term partner on Monday. Nottinghamshire Police confirmed it is investigating his death. Mr Catton, who had a 13-year-old son, was described as a "great, fun-loving" dad by his family. 'We've gone from a wedding to planning a funeral. His partner is a mess," said his brother-in-law, Phil Bates. I wasn't expecting a £1,000 fine for fly-tipping' 'He was great, a fun-loving, bubbly character. He was really into his sports - football, cricket, boxing. Everybody loved him. No one had a bad word to say about him. I was really close to him." Mr Catton was riding his e-scooter back to his home in Top Valley when someone opened their car door, his family said. "He just hit it," said Mr Bates. Emergency services were called to the scene and he was taken to the intensive care unit at the Queen's Medical Centre. Mr Catton's life support was turned off two days later. 'We found out straight away and went straight to the hospital, where we spent most of the weekend," said Mr Bates. Nottinghamshire Police said its officers were investigating the incident but were unable to share any more information at this stage. A fundraiser has been set up by the family of Mr Catton, which has so far raised more than £5,000. "We had to say goodbye to a much-loved friend, partner, father, uncle and brother," reads the GoFundMe. "I am trying to raise funds to give him the send off that he deserves. Any remaining funds will be put into trust for his 13-year-old son he leaves behind."

Early Friday morning, Mountain View Fire Rescue responded to the blaze off of Highway 119, near Weld County Road 7, just east of Longmont. Former funeral director who left body in hearse for over a year gets maximum sentence Relatives say 46-year-old Rosa Maria Borrego perished in the blaze. Another family member was rushed to the hospital with burns. At Monday's vigil, in front of where the family's house once stood, red balloons floated in a slight breeze. 'Her favorite color was red,' said her son, Jovanny Soto. 'She always said, if anything happened to her, she wanted everyone to say 'goodbye' to her in red.' Soto said that the vigil will be a nightly one, for a total of nine days. 'We're praying for her, for safe travels, to be with our Lord Savior Jesus,' Soto said. A spokesperson for Mountain View Fire Rescue says an official cause could be released Tuesday or Wednesday. The family has started this GoFundMe Page to help with funeral and living expenses.
