
Kuwaiti official retains vice presidency at Arab Sports-for-All body
CAIRO: Haya Al-Dahham, Acting Deputy Director General of the Public Authority for Sport for the Sports-for-All Sector, has been elected Vice President of the Arab Federation for Sports for All representing Asia, during the federation's General Assembly elections held in Cairo. In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Monday, Al-Dahham said the elections were held last week with the participation of member states, resulting in her re-election as Vice President of the federation representing Asia.
She expressed gratitude for her re-election and the confidence placed in her by the General Assembly. She extended her thanks to the Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, as well as to the Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Sport, Bashar Abdullah, for their support during the elections. Al-Dahham affirmed that winning the post is a new addition to Kuwait's international achievements, expressing pride in the honor of representing Kuwait in this regional sports platform.
She explained that joining the Board of Directors of the Arab Federation for Sports for All is a significant responsibility, one she intends to use to promote the concept of community sports and support initiatives that encourage all segments of society to adopt physical activity as a lifestyle. She emphasized that 'sports for all is not a luxury, but a necessity for individual health and societal progress,' expressing her hopes to exchange experiences, broaden cooperation among Arab countries, and help achieve the federation's goals. Al-Dahham concluded by dedicating her win to the State of Kuwait and its ambitious youth, affirming her commitment to continue the journey and fulfill her responsibilities. — KUNA

Kuwaiti students bag 4 medals at 10TH Arab Chemistry Olympiad
AMMAN, Aug 8 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti students won a silver medal and three bronze at the ongoing 10TH Arab Chemistry Olympiad, being hosted in the Jordanian capital city of Amman. The championship, due to conclude tomorrow, Saturday, gathered representatives of 11 Arab countries, said Haifa Al-Adwani, supervisor of chemistry at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Education. Ali Behbehani, grade 12 from the Academy Of Giftedness, won the bronze medal, she said in statements to KUNA. The three bronze medalists are Hala Al-Rashidi, grade 11 from Al-Rawdha High School; Zahraa Al-Haddad, grade 10 from Tolaitelah High School, and Ibrahim Al-Rashidi, grade 11 from Mohammad Najm High School. Al-Adwani attributed the achievement of the Kuwaiti students to the continuous efforts of the ministry to foster the skills of talented students. U19 World Championship, hosted by Egypt to end on August 17 CAIRO: The Kuwaiti national handball team lost to Sweden 39-22 on Wednesday at the start of the U19 World Championship, hosted by Egypt until August 17. The first half ended in favor of the Swedish team 18-11, while the Blues tried to make up for the result in the second half, but the Swedish team succeeded in ending the match in its favor. Thirty-two teams are participating in the World Handball Championship, divided into eight groups. Kuwait was placed in the first group, which includes Sweden, Portugal and Austria. KUWAIT CITY, Aug 7: Al-Qadsiya will kick off its series of friendly games tomorrow evening against Saudi Arabia's Al-Akhdoud as part of its training camp in Turkey to prepare for the upcoming season.
