Former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout George Pickens was recently lit up on social media for allegedly skipping out on a local Pittsburgh area youth football camp that he had reportedly committed to, then re-committed to after his trade to the Dallas Cowboys.

TrueEdge Sports, the organizer of the camp, issued a statement slamming Pickens for what the original statement said was Pickens "walking back" on his word to appear and that he was "no longer interested" in attending the camp. The statement said the organizers were "deeply frustrated" by his decision.
Now, it seems that all of that was ... wrong?
TrueEdge Sports released a second statement, seemingly "walking back" everything it said in the original statement.
"At TrueEdge Sports, we take pride in fostering strong relationships with the athletes, families and communities we serve. Recently, a statement was issued regarding our scheduled youth camp with George Pickens that did not accurately reflect the full scope of communication or the context surrounding the event," the statement read. At no point did George communicate with us directly, and our communication with George's representatives led to confusion about the camp's status and future direction.

"Regrettably, the language used in our original message mischaracterized George's interest and actions. While our frustrations stemmed from the uncertainty surrounding the event, it was never our intention to publicly question George's professionalism, integrity, or commitment to the community. We now understand the implications of our message were not only inappropriate but inconsistent with our values as an organization."

Standing at 6-foot-4.5 and weighing 228 pounds, Brewer has the makeup of an SEC tight end. He is ranked No. 4 among all recruits from the state of Iowa for the 2027 class and is the 17th-ranked tight end in the country in the 247Sports Composite rankings. Advertisement Along with the Gators, Brewer included SEC rivals Georgia, Tennessee and Texas A&M and national powerhouses like Notre Dame and Oregon in his top 12. However, the team Florida may have to watch out for the most on the recruiting trail is Iowa, which is known for its talent at the tight end position. The Hawkeyes, affectionately named "Tight End U," have had many greats at the position, including Dallas Clark, T.J. Hockenson and Noah Fant. While Iowa may have the upper hand in the recruiting battle for Brewer based on history and location, Napier and Florida will certainly make a run at the top tight end target.
