Eric Trump has a strong message for 'earliest believers'

Eric Trump has a strong message for 'earliest believers' originally appeared on TheStreet.
The Trump family is involved with several crypto projects, one of them being a decentralized finance (DeFi) venture called the World Liberty Financial.
While President Donald Trump himself acts as the chief crypto advocate at the project, his sons Donald Jr., Eric, and Barron act as Web3 ambassadors there. The family holds a 60% stake in the project.
The crypto project has also launched USD1. It is a stablecoin, a type of cryptocurrency that, unlike usually volatile cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, maintains a stable value. It is usually pegged to a fiat currency like the U.S. dollar or a commodity like gold.
USD1, as the name suggests, is pegged 1:1 to the dollar. It says it is 100% backed by short-term U.S. government treasuries, USD deposits, and other cash equivalents.
On June 3, the on-chain analytics platform Lookonchain revealed on X that World Liberty Financial has been airdropping USD1 stablecoins to wallets that participated in the sale of WLFI, the project's native token.
World Liberty Financial's ambassador Eric Trump congratulated "our earliest believers" for receiving the USD1 stablecoin.
As per DeFiLlama, the total market cap of stablecoins stands at $249.26 billion at the time of writing.
With Tether's USDT and Circle's USDC occupying more than 85% of the market share, the USD1 stablecoin accounts for a mere 0.0087% share.
The USD1 stablecoin has become a bone of contention between the Republican and Democrat senators. The former believe the president's involvement with the USD1 project leads to conflicts of interest and have proposed multiple amendments to the GENIUS Act that deals with stablecoin regulation.

Institutional crypto adoption is surging, says OKX US CEO in new report

Institutional crypto adoption is surging, says OKX US CEO in new report originally appeared on TheStreet. Institutional adoption of crypto is accelerating rapidly, and blockchain is becoming more than just a finance tool — it's transforming global industries. That's the key takeaway from a new report by OKX and Blockworks Research, discussed by OKX US CEO Roshan Robert in a recent interview with TheStreet Roundtable host Scott Melker. 'These are research findings that are based on interviews with industry experts, analysis from both OKX and Blockworks,' said Roshan. 'There's a whole lot of desktop research that has gone into this report, as well as industry surveys and studies. The respondents represent companies like Stanchard and Polygon and Google.' One of the report's headline figures is that 'around 59 to 60% of asset managers plan to launch crypto funds by 2026,' with more than 40% of institutional investors already participating in crypto mutual funds or ETPs. Roshan added that 'two-thirds of finance leaders are building capabilities for tokenized products,' marking a significant shift toward blockchain-based financial infrastructure. Beyond finance, the report highlights real-world blockchain adoption across several industries. 'Of course, you have sports and entertainment… there are teams and creators using blockchain to offer digital collectibles, fan tokens, exclusive experiences,' Roshan said. 'Consumer and luxury brands are trying to use blockchain for supply chain transparency [and] combating counterfeiting.' Scott Melker called the institutional numbers 'astounding,' noting the rise of Bitcoin in corporate treasuries. He asked Roshan how OKX is tailoring its U.S. platform for both retail and institutional users. 'We have to make the platform compatible to both institutions as well as the retail industry,' said Roshan. 'Institutional clients want institutional-grade compliance, and we've invested a lot in compliance, risk management, client money controls, and cybersecurity.' He emphasized that OKX, known for its engineering roots and deep blockchain integration, now has a compliance team 'nearly 500 people strong' and applies 'proper sales practices' to appeal to both traditional finance and crypto-native clients. 'There's a flavor of TradFi that is actually coming into the organization, which is good,' Roshan concluded. Weekly Recap: Circle Scores Big on IPO Fever

It was a week of fortunes made, and fortunes lost, at CoinDesk. On the one hand, we had Circle, long a leading crypto company, hurtling to IPO and making bank. Its shares were priced at $110 at press time (up from $31 Wednesday), leading many to expect a summer and fall of crypto-themed IPOs. On the other, we saw HyperLiquid trader James Wynn go from having a $100 million BTC position one day to a massive loss the next. (Kids, beware the big, bad leverage monster). Most of the market portents looked good, though. Crypto money-raising season was in full swing. Groups doubled-down on the Bitcoin Treasury Strategy, not least Metaplanet, Japan's answer to Michael Saylor's Strategy. Solana's memecoin juggernaut, said it was lining up $1 billion at a $4 billion valuation. One of its children, Fartcoin, surged on rumors of a Coinbase listing. Crypto technology continued to get integrated into mainstream products. Prediction markets from Polymarket are coming to X and xAI. Uber, Apple, Airbnb and others said they were hoping to combine stablecoins into their payment offerings. Revolut said it would soon offer derivatives. And so on. Still, Trump and Musk dominated coverage as normal (probably to an unhealthy degree). On Thursday, Trump's media company Truth Social said it would launch its own Bitcoin ETF. (By Friday, it was set to issue more shares as well.) The Trump-Musk feud, which also broke this week, highlighted the U.S.'s precarious debt situation (a key driver for bitcoin's existence). But so far bitcoin, and dogecoin, prices are down on the news. Really anything is possible in the weeks ahead. HIVE Digital Capacity Crosses 10 EH/s in May, Aims to More Than Double That by Year-End

Bitcoin miner HIVE Digital Technologies (HIVE) has surpassed 10 exahash per second (EH/s) in hashrate capacity, a 58% increase from April, driven by the launch of a 100-megawatt hydro-powered site in Paraguay. The company said in a press release on Friday that it's on track to reach 25 EH/s by the end of 2025. The firm mined 139 bitcoin in May, or an average rate of 4.5 BTC per day. Peak capacity hit 10.4 EH/s while average hashrate for the month stood at 8.5 EH/s. HIVE said its fleet efficiency remained steady at around 20 joules per terahash (J/TH), and its network share now exceeds 1% of global Bitcoin mining power. The new facility in Paraguay reflects a broader trend in the mining industry: the race to deploy next-generation ASIC miners rapidly and at scale in regions with abundant renewable power. Co-founder Frank Holmes emphasized the company's speed and flexibility, pointing to its Buzz HPC division, which supports AI cloud infrastructure alongside Bitcoin mining. CEO Aydin Kilic said the company's goal for the summer is 18 EH/s, and that fleet upgrades should allow for a daily BTC output of over 12 by the fourth quarter — potentially at a production cost below $50,000 per coin. HIVE operates facilities in Canada, Sweden and Paraguay, powered entirely by hydroelectricity. The company was the first publicly listed crypto miner on the TSX Venture Exchange in 2017. HIVE shares are higher by 13% in New York trade on Friday as the mining sector rallies alongside bitcoin's gain to above $105,000.
