Jamie Vardy marked his 500th and final match for Leicester with a farewell goal — his 200th for the club he has represented for exactly 13 years.
The 38-year-old striker scored in the 28th minute to put Leicester 1-0 ahead against Ipswich at King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.
Vardy ran to the corner flag, pulled it out and raised it aloft before being mobbed by his teammates.
Grabbing a landmark goal is a fitting way to go out for Vardy, a player Leicester has described as its 'greatest ever' after he famously helped the team to win the Premier League title in 2016 at preseason odds of 5,000-1. In that title-winning campaign, he netted in a record 11 straight games to inspire one of the great underdog stories in sporting history.
Vardy is still going strong, scoring nine times in this campaign to back up his assertion that he can still play at the highest level. It hasn't been announced where he will play next.
Leicester still has another league game left after that — at Bournemouth on May 25 in the Premier League's final round — but Vardy's last appearance for the team will be against Ipswich.
Vardy joined Leicester from non-league team Fleetwood Town for 1 million pounds (now $1.33 million) in May 2012 — exactly 13 years ago.

Sloane Stephens, the 2017 US Open champion, has previously called for egg freezing to be recognized as a protected ranking activity and called Wednesday's announcement a "ground-breaking" move. "I'm incredibly proud of our sport in recognizing the importance of fertility treatments for female athletes. For any woman, the conversation of family life versus a career is nuanced and complex," the former world number three said. "The WTA has now created a safe space for players to explore options and to make the best decisions for themselves." The WTA also said players will benefit from paid maternity leave and grants for fertility protection through the WTA Maternity Fund.

Al-Nassr lead the way as Saudi teams score big in global football social media rankings
RIYADH: Saudi clubs made a strong impression in the latest global social media rankings for football teams, with Al-Nassr confirmed as the most-followed Arab club worldwide. In a report published on Wednesday by the Football Observatory, a research group within the International Centre for Sports Studies, Al-Nassr, who finished third in the Saudi Pro League this season, ranked 16th globally in terms of followers, having amassed more than 62 million across platforms including X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. The club's regional online dominance was widely attributed to the global appeal of star striker Cristiano Ronaldo, who signed for the team in December 2022, and its rapidly growing fanbase. Al-Hilal, this season's runners-up in the league, ranked 24th, with 37.7 million followers, driven by strong social media engagement linked to success in continental competitions and a squad featuring a number of international stars. Pro League champions Al-Ittihad took 49th spot in the rankings with 15.5 million followers, ahead of many European and American clubs, thanks to recent high-profile signings and domestic success. Al-Ahli ranked 66th with 10.7 million followers, their digital success bolstered by a recent return to the Saudi Pro League and a vibrant presence on TikTok and Instagram. Man City Sign Dutch Midfielder Reijnders Ahead of Club World Cup
Manchester City confirmed the signing of midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan on a five-year contract on Wednesday and said the Netherlands international will be available for this month's Club World Cup. Financial details were not released but a City team source has put the transfer fee at 55 million euros ($62.85 million).
