Geyer finished her senior season with a 1.17 ERA (18 earned runs allowed) and it actually raised her career average to 0.98. She was that dominant in the circle, stringing together three consecutive seasons with a sub-1.00 ERA and totaling 1,096 strikeouts — 228 of which came this spring.
The Western Michigan signee did this while also raking at the plate, batting .434 with 157 hits, 119 RBIs and 24 home runs for her career. She batted .444 with 40 hits, 37 RBIs, 12 doubles, a triple and five homers as a senior.
Geyer led the Cougars to a Class 3A state championship as a sophomore, batting .478 with a career-high eight homers, and posting a 0.99 ERA with a career-high 300 strikeouts over 155 innings in the circle.
Marx is a three-sport standout and among the most-decorated athletes in school history. She won three sectional titles with two state runner-up finishes in volleyball, helped secure a basketball state championship as a freshman and is currently in search of her fourth consecutive softball state finals appearance (titles in 2022 and 2023).
Limited to her softball career, Marx set the single-season hits record as a freshman, broke it as a sophomore, then surpassed it once more with a couple hits in Tuesday's regional, leaving her with 56 for the season and 226for her career. The standout outfielder has also scored 43 runs and stolen 23 bases this season, and has 191 runs, 226 hits and 118 steals for her career — placing her among the all-time state leaders in each category.
The future Buckeye batted an astonishing .588 (50 hits) against one of the state's toughest schedules as a senior. She only struck out three times, drew five walks and rounded out her line with 33 runs, a couple doubles and eight RBIs. Neal is a career .480 hitter with 153 hits, 114 runs scored, 35 RBIs and a paltry 22 strikeouts in 345 plate appearances.
In addition to boasting a career-best .936 fielding percentage (42 putouts and two assists on 47 total chances), Neal broke her own school record with 39 steals, leaving her with 111 through four varsity seasons.
Neal, a state track qualifier, helped the Dawgs to 63 wins during her career, with back-to-back 18-win campaigns.

The Marshall commit finished her career with a .459 average, 174 hits, 121 runs, 154 RBIs , 49 doubles and 29 homers. She did not strike out more than nine times in any of her four varsity seasons, and established herself as a dependable fielder, posting a .929 career fielding percentage on 325 total chances.
Stieneker took part in two sectional championship runs, with the Golden Bears reaching the semistate finals her freshman season.
Already a phenomenal fielder, Zachary is amidst her best season yet at the hot corner, committing a career-low one error on 45 chances at the hot corner with 17 putouts and 27 assists. She's increased her efficiency at the plate, as well, batting a career-high .548 with 46 hits in 84 at-bats. The Notre Dame commit has also driven in 60 runs, scored 43 runs herself, and rounds out her line with 10 doubles, four triples and seven home runs.

Blockbuster NBA Trade Idea Has Hawks Swap Trae Young for Three Former Lottery Picks

Blockbuster NBA Trade Idea Has Hawks Swap Trae Young for Three Former Lottery Picks originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There could be a change for the Atlanta Hawks this offseason after missing the NBA playoffs for the second straight year. The Hawks haven't been competitive, despite having Trae Young, the league's leader in assists per game. With the lack of a competent roster, it could be time for Atlanta to trade Young. Advertisement Last season, the Hawks had a 40-42 record and lost in the Play-In Tournament. The organization hasn't been in the conversation of being a playoff team for a while. Bleacher Report's Andy Bailey suggested that it's time for the Hawks to consider trading the All-Star guard. Given that the front office hasn't been able to give Young enough help to contend, Bailey suggested that a fresh start with a different franchise could be the next step. Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young is guarded by Orlando Magic center Wendell Carter Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images According to Bailey, the team that would benefit from Young would be the Orlando Magic. In the postseason, it became clear that the Magic need a point guard who's capable of being an elite floor general. Advertisement The blockbuster trade idea would send Young to the Magic in exchange for Jalen Suggs, Anthony Black, Jett Howard and a top-10-protected 2027 first-round pick. Acquiring the three former lottery picks could be the perfect fit for what Atlanta is trying to do. "The Hawks have never been able to figure out how to surround him with a workable defense that can cover for his shortcomings on that end," Bailey argued. "And they're brewing their own little positionless philosophy that could benefit from Jalen Suggs' defense and a few more on-ball opportunities for the likes of Jalen Johnson, Dyson Daniels and Zaccharie Risacher." The Hawks have a promising young core in Zaccharie Risacher and Dyson Daniels. Young is the only player who doesn't fit the Hawks' timetable. With the Hawks, Young has developed into a four-time All-Star and one of the best facilitators in the NBA. He has averaged 25.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 9.8 assists in seven seasons. Walker Buehler's early exit only added more stress to a stressful situation

Buehler's body language had a much different message on Friday night and no translation was needed. It screamed, 'Get me off this mound.' In his first game against the Yankees as a member of the Red Sox, Buehler had the worst start of his career. He allowed seven runs, five earned, over two innings in what turned into a 9-6 loss. Advertisement It was the first time in 132 career starts that Buehler pitched only two innings. He's now 4-4 with a 5.18 earned run average in 10 starts for the Sox after agreeing to a one-year, $21.05 million contract. Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up 'This organization put a lot of faith in me this offseason and I've been [expletive] embarrassing for us. So it's tough,' Buehler said. There's been a lot of that going around for the Sox. Brayan Bello was signed to a six-year, $55 million extension before the 2024 season has a 4.36 ERA in 39 starts since. He has completed five innings four times in nine starts this season. Breslow awarded Lucas Giolito a two-year, $37 million deal after his poor 2023 season. Giolito missed last season after having elbow surgery and has a 6.42 ERA over seven starts this season. Advertisement Tanner Houck, an All-Star last season, had an 8.04 ERA over nine starts before going on the injured list with a severe case of not being able to get outs. At least he's only getting paid $3.95 million. The Red Sox have a true No. 1 starter in Garrett Crochet and a collection of No. 4 starters — if that — after him. It's why they are 30-35 and have lost 9 of their last 12 games. They now trail the Yankees by 10½ games in the American League East and this seems sure to be the seventh consecutive season without a division title after winning three in a row under Dave Dombrowski. Dombrowski was fired in 2019 because of philosophical differences. His philosophy was he liked winning. What the team's philosophy has been since then isn't really clear. That the Red Sox managed to make a game of it by scoring six runs is incidental. They can't win with this rotation. They have allowed 16 runs in the first inning of the last five games. The bullpen, meanwhile, has pitched 24 1/3 innings over the last four games. 'It's hard to play this way,' manager Alex Cora said. Impossible, really. 'We just got to get better, right? We have to pitch. We trust these guys,' said Cora, who has had to work hard to stay positive. Buehler beat himself up talking to reporters. To his credit, he hasn't ducked from his performance. Buehler said he's throwing more sliders and sinkers than he's used to and doesn't have full conviction in how he's attacking hitters. Advertisement 'Good teams will make you pay for that,' Buehler said. The Yankees, who have won 13 of 17, are very good and they did just that. Crochet pitches on Saturday. It'll be his first start against the Yankees as a member of the Red Sox and he needs to work deep in the game to protect the bullpen. As Cora said, it's a hard way to play. Colgate recruit Kelcie McGraw brushes away adversity as Lockport ousts Lincoln-Way Central. ‘That's good to hear.'

During and after games, senior pitcher Kelcie McGraw is used to getting compliments from her Lockport teammates. The one she received Friday from senior teammate Rheanna Slavicek after the biggest win of her high school career, however, caught her a bit by surprise. Slavicek pointed out that the Colgate recruit was her role model. 'Really? That's good to hear,' McGraw said with a smile. 'I've had little girls say it before, but it means so much to have someone on the team say it. 'I've been told that I'm a leader and people expect me to be a leader. But that has never been said to me.' The role model and her apprentice both made magic for the host Porters in a 2-0 victory in 10 innings over Lincoln-Way Central in the Class 4A Lockport Sectional championship game. McGraw scattered six hits and struck out 11 for the Porters (30-9). Slavicek came through with an RBI triple that broke a scoreless tie. McGraw added an RBI single for the second run. Florida State recruit Lisabella Dimitrijevic struck out 15 for Lincoln-Way Central (34-2). Ellie McLaughlin and Jaimee Bolduc added two hits apiece. Lockport will play Bradley-Bourbonnais (22-12) at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Illinois Wesleyan Supersectional. Friday's game was a classic in every sense of the word. The Porters produced base runners in six innings, while the Knights had scoring chances in eight. The two staff aces shut the door time after time. 'It's always a good battle between me and her,' McGraw said of Dimitrijevic. 'It's been like that for four years. We've faced her so many times that it could go either way. 'It does get you a little bit nervous, but you can't let the nerves take over.' Lockport broke through in the top of the 10th. Marie Baranowski led off with a sharp single to right. One out later, Slavicek came to the plate and took a 1-2 pitch to the gap in right field. 'It felt unreal,' Slavicek said. 'I had a different approach from my last time at-bat. I was more loose. I didn't overthink what could happen. I just kind of trusted my training.' McGraw was in the hole while Slavicek raced around the bases all the way to third. 'You can always rely on her whether she's in the outfield or at bat,' McGraw said of Slavicek. 'When she hit that ball, I was thrilled. I knew we were going to win from there and move on.' McGraw gave herself an extra cushion with two outs when she grounded a single up the middle to drive in Slavicek. All that remained for McGraw to slay the Lincoln-Way Central giant was get through the bottom of the 10th. It wasn't easy. McGraw retired the eight and nine hitters, but at the top of the order, McLaughlin kept the Knights alive with an infield single. Kayla Doerre then coaxed a walk. That created the final storybook battle between McGraw and Dimitrijevic. First, however, Western Michigan-bound senior catcher Liliana Janeczko made a trip to the circle. 'I told Kelcie, 'It's me and you out here,'' Janeczko saaid. 'I told her to just imagine nobody else out there. And she locked in.' McGraw got Dimitrijevic to hit a pop fly. Senior shortstop Mikayla Cvitanovich then made a nice catch as she ran toward left field. 'That's a team which is really hard to play,' McGraw said. 'Going into this one, we said that the pressure is all on them, not us. I tried not to think too much about it last night. 'When I woke up this morning, I said, 'OK, we're set. We're ready.''
