How do Taylor and Serrano's records compare?
Taylor and Serrano have two of the best records in boxing, not just the women's game.Serrano is a seven-weight world champion while Taylor is among an elite club in the modern era to win undisputed titles in two weight classes.Taylor, 39, has 24 wins and just one loss on her record, a 2023 defeat by Cameron she avenged in her next fight.Serrano, 36, is one of the most experienced pro-female fighters on the scene today with 47 wins, three losses and one draw on her record.Taylor has two victories over Serrano, while the other defeat was way back in 2012 at super-featherweight to Frida Wallberg. We saw in the first fight how their styles gelled perfectly and just how many punches were thrown between them. A combined 320 punches were landed over the 10 rounds and after 20 rounds that figure rose to 861 punches.Taylor won a narrow split decision in an instant classic at MSG three years ago.The Irishwoman suffered her first defeat since then while Serrano became undisputed champion at featherweight as she amassed five more wins.Their fight last November was another epic as Taylor leaned on her reactions and experience while a badly cut Serrano refused to take a backwards step. Remarkably, after 40 minutes we still haven't seen a knockdown.
Who won Taylor v Serrano 1 & 2?
Taylor and Serrano's two fights couldn't have been much closer. The first encounter was a split decision for Taylor while the rematch was a little wider for the Irishwoman.Cardio and grit for both women was a massive factor in each fight, with Taylor digging deep to stay on her feet at MSG before Serrano battled through a terrible cut above her eye through much of the rematch in Texas.
On both occasions, Serrano slammed her foot on the gas from the very first bell, throwing a huge amount of punches. She out-landed Taylor in both fights, with 324 punches to Taylor's 217 in the rematch. But the volume wasn't enough for Serrano as she failed to put a real dent in Taylor. The defending champion used her counters and speed to deal with the onslaught and landed more of the meatier shots. While Serrano had visibly hurt Taylor in the first fight, she was unable to rock her rival in the rematch. Will either woman come out with a different game plan for the trilogy or will we see another all-action firefight?

Direct train from LA to NYC to 'open next year' ahead of FIFA World Cup and will make journey faster than ever

A proposed high-speed rail line could soon connect Los Angeles to New York City in under 72 hours, with operations potentially launching in time for the 2026 FIFA World Cup - and America's 250th anniversary. The proposal comes from AmeriStarRail, a Delaware-based transportation company, which submitted a detailed plan to Amtrak outlining the 'Transcontinental Chief' - a long-distance rail service that would repurpose existing Amtrak routes and infrastructure. The train would travel through major cities including Kansas City, Chicago, and Philadelphia, while also offering views of the Grand Canyon. Unlike traditional high-speed rail initiatives that require extensive new infrastructure, AmeriStarRail's groundbreaking proposal would utilize Amtrak's current fleet of coaches, sleepers, and dining cars, along with host railroads like BNSF, Norfolk Southern and New Jersey Transit. The high-speed rail line is not only designed to carry passengers, but also vehicles, buses, and even long-haul trucks. The proposed service plans to blend elements of Europe's truck transport trains with U.S. passenger rail operations, offering vehicle-boarding for truckers and travelers along with Amtrak-style accommodations and amenities. Different than other recently proposed plans to upgrade U.S. transit, the AmeriStarRail's proposal emphasizes that the 'Transcontinental Chief' project would be privately funded, requiring no new federal appropriations or legislation. 'The Transcontinental Chief will be a great opportunity for Amtrak to team up with the private sector to confront the challenges of its money-losing long-distance trains and create opportunities to usher in a profitable Golden Age of rail travel for passengers and truckers, with the ingenuity of free enterprise, as we celebrate our great nation's 250th birthday next year,' AmeriStarRail COO Scott Spencer said in the proposal submitted to Amtrak. 'AmeriStarRail's proposal to turn Amtrak's money-losing long-distance trains into profit makers has also been shared with President Trump, DOGE, USDOT Secretary Sean Duffy, the FRA and Members of Congress,' a spokesperson for AmeriStarRail said. According to the company, the service could begin by May 10, 2026 - just weeks before the U.S. co-hosts the World Cup and marks its semiquincentennial. 'Subject to operating agreements with the host railroads (BNSF, Norfolk Southern and New Jersey Transit) the Transcontinental Chief can start operations on National Train Day, Sunday, May 10, 2026 to begin serving tourists for America 250 celebrations and the 2026 FIFA World Cup,' the private rail company spokesperson added. AmeriStarRail argues the plan offers a path toward expanding high-speed rail in the U.S. without the delays and costs associated with entirely new infrastructure. However, the project hinges on Amtrak's cooperation and requires agreements with multiple host railroads. There are also operational challenges, including right-of-way access, scheduling, and safety protocols. Amtrak has yet to respond to the proposal. While the proposal is still in early stages, it adds to growing momentum for enhanced passenger rail in the U.S., including Brightline's West Coast expansion and ongoing developments in California's high-speed rail system. With the clock ticking toward 2026, AmeriStarRail hopes its transcontinental train can move from concept to track - delivering a new era of cross-country travel just in time for a historic year.

BREAKING NEWS Donald Trump arrives for Club World Cup Final between Chelsea and PSG

President Donald Trump has arrived at the Club World Cup Final between Chelsea and PSG at MetLife Stadium. Roughly 35 minutes before kickoff, Trump's Marine One helicopter was seen landing near the stadium for the game. Trump and first lady Melania Trump traveled from their golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, to East Rutherford, New Jersey to watch the inaugural championship match of the newly-expanded, 32-team global tournament. The outing falls on the first anniversary of the assassination attempt he survived in Butler, Pennsylvania last year, and significant security measures were put in place for his arrival. As detailed in The Athletic, secret service officials worked with organizers to put together a travel route to the venue, and it was believed he would be behind a pane of bulletproof glass at the game. Trump is expected to watch the game with FIFA president Gianni Infantino, PSG and Chelsea officials, as well as Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the emir of Qatar and previous owner of the Boeing 747-8 jet Trump controversially accepted as a gift. Additionally, Trump is expected to be part of the trophy presentation after the game, which further complicates the required security around the American Commander-in-Chief. 'When you do the threat and risk assessment, you cover anything that could go wrong: if they were at a mass gathering, what if the stage collapsed?' Nigel Thomas, a former British Special Air Service (SAS) soldier and founder of security training firm, Blue Mountain Group, told The Athletic. 'We will have a standard operating procedure for that, for example. You need to be prepared for it, and that takes communication with stadium security and emergency services.' The World Cup Final next summer will also be hosted at MetLife Stadium. The president has enjoyed a friendly relationship with Infantino, and FIFA actually opened up a new office in Manhattan's Trump Tower this week. Since he took office for a second time this year, Trump has visited several sporting events - including the Super Bowl in New Orleans. He's also attended the Daytona 500 in Florida, UFC fights in Miami and Newark, New Jersey, and the NCAA wrestling championships in Philadelphia. While Trump has yet to attend a Club World Cup match ahead of the final, Vice President J.D. Vance was on hand when Borussia Dortmund took on Ulsan HD in Cincinnati. And the strict security measures were certainly felt in that case. 'We were checked by strict security,' Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac told assembled reporters. ' Sunday's final is the one-year anniversary of the assassination attempt Trump survived When we left the hotel, we were given a sniff test by a dog. When we got into the stadium, someone came onto the bus with another dog. That's completely normal. It's a World Cup. They are high-level people, so I think it's normal, but it was relatively tight.' Sunday's final will see reigning Champions League winners PSG face English giants Chelsea, who were last crowned winners of Europe in 2021. PSG have gotten past a gauntlet of opponents this summer to reach the championship match, beating the likes of Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid along the way. Their win over Los Blancos was particularly emphatic, as they beat the Spanish giants 4-0 on Wednesday in front of a packed MetLife crowd. Chelsea, meanwhile, have beaten the likes of Benfica, Palmeiras and Fluminense in the knockout stages to reach the final.
