Dawson back in England team after eight-year absence for fourth Test v India
The 35-year-old Hampshire left-armer, who replaces the injured Shoaib Bashir, is the only change to the team for the fourth Test which begins on Wednesday.
Dawson has not played a Test match since earning his third Test cap in July 2017.

Dawson, an unused member of the 2019 World Cup winning squad, did feature in the Twenty20 series against West Indies in June.
Bashir suffered a fracture to his finger during the third Test at Lord's, which England won by 22 runs to take a 2-1 lead, leaving them one victory away from clinching their first five-match series win since 2018.

The top four of the 18 MLS clubs in the competition will advance to the quarterfinals, where they will be joined by the top four of the tournament's 18 Liga Mx clubs. The Herons conclude the group phase with a Wednesday home match at Pumas UNAM. Inter Miami resumes MLS regular-season action on Aug. 10 at Orlando City. Messi, 38, has 18 regular-season goals this year, tied for the MLS lead with Nashville SC's Sam Surridge. In Leagues Cup play, he assisted on both of Miami's goals in a 2-1 opening win over Atlas on Wednesday. An eight-time Ballon d'Or winner and a 2022 World Cup champion with Argentina, Messi is in his third season with Inter Miami.

Photo: REUTERS South Africa's Twenty20 captain Aiden Markram wants his team's promising young batsman to use the opportunity of limited overs tours to Australia and England over the next eight weeks to develop their careers and display their international potential. South Africa have high hopes for powerful teenage slogger Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Dewald Brevis, the prolific 22-year-old run scorer who first competed in the Indian Premier League three years ago, as they continue preparations for next year's T20 World Cup. "The last thing you want to do is to clip their wings. You sort of want to let them fly and let them do their thing," Markram told a virtual press conference on Friday as South Africa readied to depart for Australia, where they play three T20 internationals in Darwin and Cairns later this month. "I think we've seen on various stages around the world now that they are proper X-factor players and that they have taken to international cricket quite easily," he added. "So, I don't know if I have too much advice for them, besides the fact that they must keep taking the game on and not be scared of disappointments or failures. "It's been great to see their progress. They're going to play a massive role moving forward in cricket in South Africa and that's the thing that we're quite excited about," Markram added. Brevis, a regular in T20 leagues around the world, debuted for South Africa's T20 side against Australia two years ago while Pretorius, 19, debuted in last month's tri series against New Zealand and hosts Zimbabwe, scoring 51 in the final in Harare last weekend. The pair are also in the squad to take on Australia in three One Day Internationals after the T20 series. South Africa then head to England early next month for three ODIs and three T20s. "For us as a team it'll be about fine tuning a lot of things and preparing for that T20 World Cup, so a great opportunity in Australia and then followed by England and if we can get closer towards another trophy, that'll be good," Markram told reporters. South Africa were runners-up at the last T20 World Cup in the West Indies one year ago and Markram was the hero of their World Test Championship win over Australia in June. The next T20 World Cup to be hosted by India and Sri Lanka in early 2026.

PHOTO COURTESY: BLACKCAPS FACEBOOK New Zealand captain Mitch Santner said a "great collective performance" enabled the Black Caps to beat Zimbabwe by nine wickets on the third day of the first Test at Queens Sports Club on Friday. But while the bowlers had excelled, he said the batting could have been better. Led by fast bowler Matt Henry, New Zealand bowled out Zimbabwe for 149 and 165 and needed only eight runs to win after taking a first innings lead of 158. Henry was named player of the match, taking nine wickets for 90 runs across the two innings. "There was more in it (the pitch) than we thought. We held our lengths and lines," said Santner, who captained New Zealand for the first time in a Test in the absence of Tom Latham with a shoulder injury. It was New Zealand's first Test match of the year and Henry's performance came immediately after a triangular Twenty20 series won by New Zealand in Harare, where Henry was player of the tournament. "With the chop and change in formats, you've got to trust the work you've put in," said Henry. "When you have assistance (from conditions), it was great we were able to exploit it." New Zealand were bowled out for 307 in their first innings, with the only major contributions coming from Devon Conway (88) and Daryl Mitchell (80). "We could have batted a bit better," said Santner. "We had good intent. We talked about getting partnerships together but didn't have many significant ones." Santner said there was concern about the condition of seamer Nathan Smith, who took three for 20 in the first innings of just his third Test but could not take the field in the second innings because of an abdominal injury. "I feel for him. He bowled so well in the first innings but it doesn't look good for him," said Santner. Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine said his batsmen had shown more application than they did in two recent Tests against South Africa in Bulawayo. "There was a fair bit in the wicket but the guys tried to grind it out," he said. Ervine said a key passage of play was on the first evening when Conway and Will Young put on 92 without loss for the first wicket despite Zimbabwe bowling well. "I haven't seen as much lateral movement as there was here for a while. We could have easily picked up two or three (wickets)."
