Robin Propper demands Rangers transfer sitdown as he wants answers, Balogun eyes reunion and Morelos airs pride

Daily Record2 days ago

The defender is considering a return to former club FC Twente while Alfredo Morelos reflects after 200 goals
Robin Propper has slammed the brakes on his move back to FC Twente until after a sit down with new Rangers boss Russell Martin.
The Dutch defender played 43 games for Gers last season, but was often on the end of stick from fans and pundits alike as he suffered an indifferent campaign after Philippe Clement brought him to Glasgow from the Eredivise.

Twente are keen to bring their former skipper home and a deal could be done to bring the 31-year-old back to the Netherlands for £1.5million

But Jan Streuer, Twente's new sporting director has revealed Propper is still weighing up his options and isnt ruling out staying to fight for his place until he's spoken with Martin.
Streuer said: "We have to wait and see with him. Robin wants to hear from his club on what they're going to do.
"I understand that there are new owners, a new technical director, a new manager and new coaches.
"They always have new ideas and they also bring their own players with them.
"The question is what all this means for Robin. But he's welcome back here."
Meanwhile, Leon Balogun looks set to link up with former Rangers defensive partner Connor Goldson and sign for Cypriot club Aris Limassol.

The veteran Nigerian international was released this summer after ending his second spell at Ibrox.
And he's in talks to join up again with Goldson in Cyprus after ambitious Aris offered him a deal to play on the Mediterranean island.

Goldson moved there last summer after making over 300 appearances in six years for Rangers and he partnered Balogun at the back often.
Aris were disappointed they missed out on the title to Pafos FC and are desperate to push for the league next season.
Balogun and Goldson played together in both of Rangers' recent cup triumphs - in the 2022 Scottish Cup win over Hearts and the League Cup victory against Aberdeen a year later.

Now they could be set to link up again in Cyprus.
Finally, Alfredo Morelos insists he's proud of his career as the ex-Rangers star smashed the 200-goal barrier.
The Colombian ace netted a double for his club Nacional in a 2-1 win at Santa Fe to take him past a double century of goals. He scored a penalty to make it 200 goals and added another later on.

He was picked up a trademark booking after showboating by juggling the ball on his head, which infuriated the opposition players and sparked a bust-up.
Morelos' 201 goals include 124 goals in 269 games for Rangers in a six-year spell.

He's now at homeland club Nacional, where he has scored 22 goals. He's also netted five for his first club, Independiente Medellín, 46 for HJK Helsinki and four in an ill-fated spell at Brazilian giants Santos.
Morelos said: "I'm happy and blessed to achieve this feat because it hasn't been easy.
"Always in my career, I walked onto the pitch with humility and tranquillity.
"To score two goals was wonderful and I am thankful to my coaches and teammates throughout my career for all their help over the years. "I hope to score many, many more goals in my career.
"I had to wait a while to get past the 200-goal barrier. But a goalscorer never forgets to score goals, that's the truth.
"I work every day, showing that I'm up to the task and the net opened up for me. The secret? You have to stay calm in front of goal."

He admitted he's 'only focused' on Rangers but also left the door open after the interest shown in him GER READY 'In football you never say never' – Rangers star refuses to rule out summer exit following latest Serie A links RANGERS midfielder Nedim Bajrami insists he's going nowhere despite transfer speculation linking him with a move to Serie A. The Albanian international was subjected to plenty of criticism during the season for a string of ineffective performances after Rangers splashed out £3.5 million to land him last summer. 3 Nedim Bajrami says he's focused on Rangers but didn't rule out a summer move following links to Serie A Credit: Willie Vass 3 The midfielder made 44 appearances for Gers last season and scored five goals Credit: Willie Vass 3 He shot to fame when he scored the quickest-ever Euros goal for Albania against Italy last summer Credit: EPA He's been linked with a move away from Ibrox with former club Sassuolo reportedly interested in bringing him back to Italy after their promotion to Serie A. However, Bajrami is determined to hit the ground running under new boss Russell Martin. The 26-year-old was honoured with a mural in his family's home town of Tetevo depicting his goal for Albania after 26 seconds at Euro 2024 - the fastest-ever goal at the European Championships. And he was quizzed about his future. Bajrami said: "In football, you never say never. "But I am currently focused only on Rangers. "It is a special emotion to be back in my home town. "My advice to everyone is to never stop believing in yourself." Bajrami made 44 appearances for Rangers last season in all competitions and scored five goals for the club, including the opening goal in the League Cup Final against Celtic in December, which they eventually lost on penalties. Meanwhile, Rangers cult hero Gennaro Gattuso has bagged the biggest job of his managerial career. £6m Rangers star Danilo spotted doing gruelling sessions on beach in Brazil as he gears up for make or break pre-season The 47-year-old is taking over from Luciano Spalletti as boss of Italy. He signed for Rangers as a teenager back in 1997, before having a highly successful career, winning the World Cup with his country in 2006 and earning a total of 73 caps.
