The Medellin club travelled by coach to play Cucuta Deportivo in a Colombian Cup tie on Tuesday. But the bus came under attack from missile-throwing yobs on the way to Cucuta's General Santander stadium. Several windows were smashed, and Morelos sustained cuts to his foot from flying shards of glass. But it didn't stop "El Bufalo" playing and scoring in the cup tie after receiving treatment. He netted the third as he helped Atletico to a 3-0 win on the night for a 4-0 aggregate success. Morelos made 269 Rangers appearances, scoring 124 goals. The visiting players were pelted with bottles at full time, and needed police to escort them to the dressing-room. Atletico coach Javier Gandolfi fumed: "It wasn't the arrival we had hoped for. We were attacked by Cucuta fans, who damaged our equipment. "They smashed four or five windows on the team bus, and two or three of my players were hit by glass and other items. Billy Dodds on signing for Chelsea, falling in love with Rangers & meeting hero Davie Cooper "This is hard to endure. Matches should only be played out on the pitch." Cucuta president Wilmar Sanchez admitted Morelos had suffered a foot injury - but maintained: "It was not serious." He added: "The Atletico bus driver deviated from the intended route before being attacked by vandals." Colombia's premier league Dimayor condemned the fan misbehaviour. Alfredo Morelos injured in shocking team bus attack as ex Rangers star hit by shattered glass

The incident occurred ahead of a Copa Colombia clash against Cucuta but the striker brushed off his scars to score in the game Former Rangers hero Alfredo Morelos was injured after Atletico Nacional's team bus was attacked on the way to a game. ‌ But the maverick striker didn't let that phase him - scoring in the victory against Cucuta to help them progress to the next round of the Copa Colombia. ‌ Morelos, 29, returned to his homeland on a loan deal from Brazilian side Santos last year which has since been extended for the remainder of the 2025 season. ‌ The Colombian netted 124 times in 269 matches in six years at Ibrox, winning both the Premiership and the Scottish Cup. The ex HJK youngster - who has won 11 caps for his country - also passed the 200 career goal mark last month. Ahead of Nacional's clash with Cucuta on Tuesday, the team bus was forced to take a detour after local fans launched rocks at the transport. Morelos was one of several players who was struck by glass from the windows and had to get treatment. Images of the shattered glass then quickly circulated on social media. ‌ But after declaring himself fit to play, the frontman ended up having the last laugh by bagging his side's third goal in the 3-0 win. After the game, Cucuta president Wilmar Sanchez revealed his horror at the attack and detailed the injury suffered by Morelos. He said: "I had a discussion with the president of Atletico Nacional about whether the game should even go ahead after the cowardly attack on the team bus and injury to Alfredo Morelos. ‌ "My understanding is that his leg was injured by the pieces of glass after the windows were shattered. "But he insisted on playing. "The attack on the bus was a disgrace and we will do everything we can to assist the authorities." ‌ You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers pages and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season. here.

The Igamane Hamza from Rangers to Lille transfer fee that is poised to smash two club records

The Moroccan frontman is attracting attention from France and the Ibrox side could be tempted to cash in Rangers arguably lived to regret their decision to turn down big bucks from French side Lille. That was five years ago when the Ligue 1 outfit wanted Alfredo Morelos and offered £17million for the Colombian striker. ‌ But it was at the start of the season when Steven Gerrard and Rangers were going for their all-important 55th Scottish title. ‌ The Light Blues resisted the temptation to cash in on a player who only cost £1m from HJK Helsinki and the rest, literally, is history with Morelos playing his part in stopping Celtic's bid for a 10th consecutive title. From the point of view of silverware it proved the right choice. But did it make good business sense? Morelos walked away for nothing a couple of years later, and some will say the club should have cashed in. Having failed in their bid to sign Morelos, Lille turned their attention to New York-born Canada international striker Jonathan David. They paid a reported £25m – still a record for a Canadian player. But after five years in France, the coveted frontman is moving on in a free transfer after his contract expired. Juventus are the frontrunners to land the player with Manchester United desperate to secure him. Regardless of where he ends up, Lille need to find a replacement and reports in Belgium say they have turned their attention Rangers striker Hamza Igamane. ‌ It's only 12 months since the Moroccan was signed for just £1.7m from AS FAR. Given the need to improve the player trading model, then a bumper offer could be too good to turn down. But what would be acceptable? Reports have suggested Rangers had set a £20m fee. The £19m the Light Blues got from Ajax for Calvin Bassey is their record sale by some distance so it could even top that. Lille's most expensive signings are David for £25m and Victor Osimhen for around £18m so they aren't scared to spend on potential. One thing looks certain, though, and that is former boss Philippe Clement was right when he said this of Igamane last September: 'We had to sign him now because one year later we could never afford him.'

Dessers deal must mark a line in the sand for Rangers, writes GARY KEOWN... and an end to the Ibrox club being soft touches in the transfer market

Just under a year on, the figures still bring on a weary shake of the head. Five first-team squad members under contract shipped out the door. A grand total of £810,000 brought in for the lot in transfer fees. As an indication of just where Rangers ' reckless, scattergun approach to recruitment had been leading them, it didn't quite carry the same weight as letting Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent leave for nothing when there was once £30million of offers on the table. However, it was every bit as damning. Arguably, even more sobering.

Thankfully, Roman returned to consciousness and was able to gingerly walk over to the ambulance. The former Treble-winner was replaced by team-mate Joan Sebastian Castro Dinas and later underwent a electrocardiogram. An encouraging club statement went on to confirm: "Roman's electrocardiogram came out clear. He is back on the bench." Roman then wrote on his Instagram story: "Guys, I'm fine… thanks everyone for the messages." Atletico Nacional won the match 2-1, courtesy of two goals by former Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos. Ex-Premier League favourite Hugo Rodallega netted for the home side, with the former Wigan and Fulham star still going at 39. With Roman among their ranks, Atletico Nacional sealed a domestic Treble in February.
