Lachlan Turner sweeps Ironman, continues to dominate Women's Pro Motocross
'It's super-sick to show my results finally,' Turner said in the post-race news conference, which begins at about the 15-minute mark of the recorded session. 'I keep putting in the work, the last two months, and it's been paying off especially. Everyone can see it now.'
Turner had not been idle during the interim. She swept the three motos of the Loretta Lynn's Amateur National last week for her first divisional title in that prestigious event.
The Ironman National was a return to action after a lengthy hiatus from Round 3 of the Pro Motocross season at Thunder Valley in Lakewood, Colorado. That race held significance because the weather on Friday, combined with a desire to prevent the track from being destroyed, prompted the WMX program to be moved to Saturday, which allowed it to be streamed on Peacock.tv.
The ladies produced some of the best racing of the weekend, so television and series executives decided to shake the schedule up in Indiana. The Friday / Saturday format will also be used for the series finale at Budds Creek.
The WMX raced Moto 1 on Friday, and the second race came during halftime between the first and second motos of the men's program on Saturday. Even though Turner dominated, the action continued to be intense as Cannon and Mikayla Nielsen kept Turner in sight, preventing her from running away with the points. With four motos remaining in the 2025 WMX Championship, Turner has less than a one-race's worth of points over second-place Cannon, with Nielsen only four points behind in third.

As for the racing action, Turner jumped to an early lead in Moto 1 with lap times consistently two or more seconds greater than the field in the first six laps of the race. She moderated her pace in the final two laps as Cannon surged, but the die was already cast.
Cannon's second-place finish was all the more impressive because she finished Moto 2 with a flat tire that developed early in the race.
Cannon did not get a good start in Moto 1, which denied the opportunity to pressure Turner early. She completed Lap 1 in fourth, moved into third for three laps, and then passed Nielsen for second on Lap 5.
'I can't take it away from La-La (Lachlan),' Cannon said. 'She's been riding awesome recently and it really shows. I have a lot more work to do. I feel like mid-year, I struggled with not a lot of bike time and falling into bad habits. So, I need to regroup.'
Cannon was also busy during the off-weeks, winning her fourth Australian Women's Motocross title.
Nielsen hovered around the top three throughout Moto 1, passing Kyleigh Stallings for second on Lap 2 before being passed by Cannon on Lap 5. Nielsen was destined for the podium until a last-lap mistake in Moto 2 dropped her from third to sixth.
Stallings took advantage of Nielsen's last lap trouble to move into third in Moto 2. Coupled with a fourth-place result in Moto 1, she secured the final overall podium position.
'I've struggled this whole season to get my aggression back,' Stallings said. 'I tried to stay close to them, and I was pretty close, so I could capitalize on the mistake that Nielsen made. It was good. I'm really happy about that, but I definitely need to work on my aggression at the beginning of the moto.'
Jordan Jarvis finished fourth with results of fifth and fourth in the two motos, and Nielsen dropped to fifth overall with her 3-6.

Jalek Swoll (thumb, calf) out for the remainder of the 2025 SuperMotocross season
Jalek Swoll will sit out the remainder of the 2025 season after further aggravating a thumb injury and tearing a calf muscle at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana, in Round 9 of the Pro Motocross season. 'Unfortunately in qualifying over the weekend I tore my calf, no crash or dab in a corner just landed a jump and boom,' Swoll posted on social media. 49ers should sign aging 2-time All-Pro to help banged up receiving corps
It may be time for the San Francisco 49ers and Odell Beckham Jr. to finally unite. The two sides have been linked multiple times in trade rumors since Beckham joined the NFL with the New York Giants as the No. 12 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft. Now Beckham is drawing interest from multiple teams according to NFL Media's Tom Pelissero. The 49ers should be one of the teams calling as they try to find any stability in the receiving corps. In the past the move would have been an overpay to acquire a player the 49ers didn't necessarily need while they were constructing what became a Super Bowl caliber roster. Now, Beckham doesn't figure to command much money as an unrestricted free agent and the 49ers have a clear need at receiver. San Francisco on Wednesday signed veteran Malik Turner to help their receiving depth while Jauan Jennings, Brandon Aiyuk and Jordan Watkins nurse injuries. Turner is the kind of player who will fill out some reps in training camp, but is a long shot to make the team. The 49ers at this point should be looking for players who may actually be able to contribute during the regular season. It doesn't seem like Beckham has a better chance of doing so than Turner or any of the other WRs the 49ers have signed to help them overcome their injuries through the rigors of training camp. It's important to note the addition wouldn't make the 49ers Super Bowl contenders. It's not even a lock Beckham would make the roster. Over the last two seasons he 620 yards and three touchdowns on 44 receptions in 23 games with the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins. Adding a 32-year-old veteran still makes sense since experience should become a factor for the 49ers as training camp winds down. Beckham is well past his prime and even in a patchwork version of San Francisco's receiving corps is likely a third or fourth option. His track record is hard to ignore, though, and there may still be a little left in the tank in an offense spearheaded by head coach Kyle Shanahan and a handful of other quality playmakers. If Beckham turns out not to be effective, his deal wouldn't break the bank and the 49ers would be able to move on. If he winds up finding his stride again, he would give the 49ers a much-needed lift in the bottom of their receiver depth chart. Ironman Motocross betting, predictions, odds, picks, lines: Jett Lawrence tumbles after two losses
For Round 10 of the Pro Motocross series at Unadilla MX Park in New Berlin, New York, Jett Lawrence hit an unprecedented level in his raw, opening betting odds on the heels of back-to-back losses. That bit of good news is offset by the fact that he continues to show minus odds of -179 midway through the week. Lawrence was as unattractive as -824 heading into the Washougal National, a race he lost to Chase Sexton. Last week's overall loss was attributed to a penalty in Moto 1, where Jett jumped the start and fouled the gate. While the mistake was self-inflicted, it is also unlikely to occur again, and Jett should be judged on his riding. He entered Turn 1 last week outside the top 20 and rode up to third at the checkers. If not for the penalty, his 3-1 would have narrowly edged Hunter Lawrence's 2-2 for the overall win. Instead, he was credited with 17th in Moto 1 and finished sixth overall. Certainly, few, if any, bettors risked a bet of -2757 for Jett to stand on the podium. If so, they lost up to a season's worth of advances. The traders at Alt Sports Data, the official linemaker for the SuperMotocross World Championship, are not going to allow any bargains when it comes to a podium; Jett is posted at -2422 to finish third or better. Hunter became the third winner of 2025 with his pair of runner-up finishes at Ironman. It was a victory long in the making after Hunter scored 10 second-place overall finishes heading into that race. His raw opening odds were +435, which was the third-ranked line of the weekend. With the retirement of Sexton for the final two rounds of 2025, there is a shakeup at the top. RJ Hampshire (+537) earned his first career podium last week and finished second. The traders believe he is capable of backing that up and ranked him third. As a result, Hampshire leapfrogged Eli Tomac (+589), who was pushed down to fourth. Tomac did not make much noise last week, but he was battling an illness that began on Friday and intensified on race day. Had he been 100 percent, Tomac would have been a much stronger competitor for the win. The field still has a lot of ground to cover if they want to challenge Jett weekly, but they know it is possible to beat him. They need to stay close enough to the front of the pack in Moto 1 to contend. Justin Cooper (+1057) is the fifth-ranked rider this week with odds just outside 10/1. He has been consistent in 2025, but with only two podiums, at Hangtown and Redbud, he is too risky for a large bet. He narrowly missed the podium last week with a fourth overall, but that would have been amended to fifth without Jett's penalty. Ken Roczen (+1787) returns to action this week, and the traders are showing a lot of respect at nearly 18/1. His opening odds for a podium were +486, and while Sexton's departure makes that a little easier to achieve, there is too much risk for conservative bettors.
