Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in a ' Mahila Sashaktikaran Maha Sammelan ' event in Bhopal on May 31 on the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of legendary queen Ahilyabai Holkar, a senior official said on Friday.The PM will also virtually lay the foundation stone of various projects and inaugurate the Super Priority Corridor of Indore Metro, and airports in Datia and Satna on the occasion, he said.Ahilyabai Holkar, the revered queen of the Holkar dynasty in 18th-century Malwa, is remembered for her exceptional governance, commitment to social welfare, and contributions towards culture and spirituality."May 31st will be a historic day for Madhya Pradesh. A Mahila Sashaktikaran Maha Sammelan (women empowerment programme) will be organised at Jamboori Maidan in Bhopal on the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar in the presence of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi," the official said.In this event, Modi will inaugurate and perform 'bhoomi pujan' of many important projects, transfer the first instalment of 1,271 new Atal Gram Seva Sadan (Panchayat Bhawan), built at Rs 483 crore, and virtually inaugurate the Super Priority Corridor of Indore Metro, he said.This six-km-long corridor is part of the Metro Yellow Line, which includes 5 stations. It will give Indore, the country's cleanest city, a modern, pollution-free and fast transport facility, a first in Madhya Pradesh, he said.The PM will release a postage stamp and commemorative coin dedicated to Ahilyabai. Along with this, the artist who has made a significant contribution to tribal, folk and traditional arts will be honoured with the National Devi Ahilyabai Award , said the official.Modi will also visit an exhibition based on good governance, women empowerment and the cultural contribution of Devi Ahilyabai on the occasion, the official said.Besides, Modi will virtually inaugurate the newly constructed airports in Datia and Satna, the official said.Datia airport has been developed at Rs 60 crore. It will provide better connectivity to the religious city with the other parts of the country.Satna airport, constructed at Rs 37 crore, will boost tourism, education, health and the industrial sector of the Vindhya region in MP, the official said.The prime minister will also perform virtual 'bhoomi pujan' of ghats to be built on Kshipra river at Rs 778.91 crore as part of the preparations for 'Simhastha' (Kumbh Mela) 2028.Along with this, work to construct a barrage, a stop dam, and a causeway costing more than Rs 80 crore will also start.The work will be done in districts, including Dhar, Ujjain, Indore and Dewas, the official said.The construction will be carried out over 29 km from Shani Mandir to the Nagda bypass. These structures will help maintain the steady flow of water in Kshipra and Kanh rivers, the official said. MP Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will also take part in the events, he added.

Remove Ads Violations highlighted in CVC report The Anti-Corruption Branch ACB ) of Delhi has called on former ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain to appear in connection with a corruption case linked to the construction of classrooms in government schools during the last Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. Jain is scheduled to appear on June 6, while Sisodia must report on June 9. This summons follows allegations involving a staggering Rs 2,000 crore in April 30, the ACB filed a First Information Report (FIR) accusing the two leaders of corruption tied to the building of 12,748 classrooms or semi-permanent structures. Sisodia oversaw finance and education departments, while Jain was responsible for health, industries, power, home affairs, urban development, and public works during the AAP's Commissioner Madhur Verma, who leads the ACB, explained the FIR followed findings from the Central Vigilance Commission 's (CVC) Chief Technical Examiner. He said, 'The Chief Technical Examiner's report of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) pointed out several anomalies in the project, and the report was kept under the carpet for about three years.' The case was registered after permission under section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act was granted.A key concern is the massive cost increase during construction. According to ACB officials, classrooms were to be built at Rs 1,200 per square foot but ended up costing nearly Rs 2,292 per square foot. BJP leaders claim this surge indicates corruption. The complaint they filed in 2019 noted that the cost per classroom was Rs 24.86 lakh—far higher than the roughly Rs 5 lakh typically spent on similar projects in project involved 34 contractors, many allegedly linked to the AAP. BJP leaders Kapil Mishra, Harish Khurana, and Neelkant Bakshi accused the former government of financial mismanagement in three school 2020 CVC report detailed multiple violations of government rules and tendering procedures. It found contracts awarded without proper bidding, project costs inflated by 17% to 90% without fresh tenders, and private consultants hired without following protocol. The report also flagged duplication of work, construction without actual demand from schools, and mismanagement of funds and AAP called the allegations 'a calculated political ploy by the BJP,' saying, 'They are weaponizing institutions to attack AAP leaders and create a false narrative… When Aam Aadmi Party held power in Delhi, the BJP systematically defanged the ACB to strip it of any real authority. Today, they are using the same weakened institution as a tool to target AAP leaders and further their own agenda.'Both Sisodia and Jain have faced legal challenges before. Sisodia was arrested in the Delhi excise policy case, while Jain was detained in a money laundering investigation. Both remain out on bail.

Bilawal dismissed a Palestinian journalist's attempt to draw parallels between Kashmir and Gaza, emphasizing that the situations are distinct. He condemned the situation in Gaza, describing it as "uniquely outrageous, inhumane, and condemnable". Bilawal also alleged that India draws inspiration from Israel, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi trying to emulate Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's approach. "As far as the hurdles we face within the UN and in general, as far as the Kashmir cause is concerned, that still exists," Bilawal, who is leading a delegation of Pakistani parliamentarians, said at a news conference here on Tuesday. He asserted that in his meetings with UN officials and diplomats, he found "receptiveness" on issues like terrorism and water, but it did not extend to Kashmir. Bilawal, who is the Chairman of the Pakistan People's Party, dismissed an attempt by a Palestinian journalist to equate Kashmir and Gaza, a familiar ploy that some Pakistanis have also used. "Let me emphasise from the outset, there is, there's no meaningful comparison that I can make between the plight of the Palestinians and the plight of Pakistan, the plight of Kashmir," he said. "What we're seeing in Gaza, what we're seeing in Palestine, is uniquely outrageous, inhumane and condemnable in all shapes, forms and terms," he added. But he went on to allege that India was drawing its inspiration from Israel and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was trying to model himself on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but was nowhere near him. Islamabad modeled Bilawal's delegation after the all-party delegations India has been sending around the world to explain its policy of zero-tolerance for terrorism and the Operation Sindoor that was launched against terrorist facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir after the massacre of 26 people in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.
