Much-loved high chair recalled amid major risk to your children

A popular high chair has been recalled after it was found to pose a major risk to children.
On June 12, Dutch parenting product brand Bagaboo recalled its $380 Giraffe High Chair, per the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
'The highchairs pose a fall hazard and risk of serious injury or death to babies because the legs of the chair can detach from the frame if the screws connecting the legs are not properly tightened during assembly,' the warning read.
There have already been 22 reports of the legs of the chair detaching, including 13 reports of minor injuries to kids.
The site recommended that customers stop using the high chair 'immediately' and contact Bugaboo for a free repair kit.
It is believed that in the United States, 18,280 high chairs were sold to parents - with an additional 2,325 sold in Canada.
The recalled products were sold at Nordstrom and other stores nationwide as well as online on Bugaboo's website and on Amazon between May 2023 and April 2025, the CPSC stated.
Bugaboo said on its website that it has contacted all known purchasers about the recall directly and that 'safety is paramount to ensure the well-being of our customers and their children.'
Taking to Reddit earlier this year, one parent who claimed to have bought the product wrote of their experience: 'Today, while my child was properly strapped in and eating, the chair suddenly came apart and he fell.
'The top half of the legs separated from the bottom, causing the entire seat to collapse forward.
'Since he was still strapped in, he had no way to catch himself and fell straight forward with the seat.
'One screw had fallen out without me realizing, and the other was still in the chair but somehow didn't hold the frame together.
'It was incredibly scary and disturbing to watch him fall like that while completely restrained. He could have been seriously hurt.'
The high chairs - which stand at 30 inches tall, 21 inches wide, and 23 inches long - are sold in a variety of colors including blue, black, white, natural wood and white, and warm wood and gray.
It is currently in stock but now states 'redesigned screws and improved Allen key' among its 'top features.'
Other highlights of the product include five seat height positions and nine footrest positions, as well as being portable and lightweight - weighing in at 11 pounds.
The website also has the chair - which are made in the Czech Republic - listed as 'safe and study' because it can hold up to 220 pounds.
Bugaboo takes its sustainability seriously and each product is 'built to last a lifetime.'
The Giraffe High Chair is made with FSC-certified European beechwood and its components are made with ISCC-certified bio-based material.
It also has a 33 percent lower CO2 footprint compared with fossil-based material.
