'I love being here I love being an Aggie' Texas A&M's LaViolette spoke ahead of LSU series
Texas A&M holds control over its postseason destiny with nine crucial SEC games remaining in regular-season play. Currently sitting at 8-13 in SEC standings, the Aggies must secure at least five more conference wins to reach the pivotal magic number of 13, keeping their hopes alive for postseason baseball in June.
With two top-five teams left on the schedule, A&M will rely heavily on Jace LaViolette to return to peak form—the level of dominance he displayed against Arkansas, which earned him SEC Player of the Week honors.
However, LaViolette faced struggles against Texas, recording just one official hit and striking out three times over the three weekends. Despite this, he took time for self-reflection, reminding himself of his love for the game and the opportunity to keep competing at a high level.
"I was pretty in the dumps after probably one of the worst games in college I've ever played, but at the same time, I look at it and I'm like you know what, I could be somewhere totally different doing something totally different that I don't love, but instead I get to come here every day even though I went 0 for six I still got to do the thing that I love I still got to wake up and come here and play the game of baseball."
LaViolette, who was originally committed to LSU before joining the Aggies, remains focused on the challenge ahead, knowing that his family in Louisiana will be watching closely.
"I love being here I love being an Aggie and that's that's long time in the past"
"My family still lives in Louisiana, so I mean they're excited to watch this, but at the same time it's just another weekend it's an important weekend that we just have to go and play good baseball, and no matter who we're playing"
Below, you can watch the full press conference leading into the LSU series.
Texas A&M will host No. 2 LSU (37-9) on Friday, May 2 at 6:00 p.m. CT. The game will stream on SEC Network+.

Walmart Shareholders Week fireworks planned at Razorback Stadium

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A professional fireworks display is scheduled for 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, at Reynolds Razorback Stadium as part of Walmart Shareholders and Associates Week events. While the display is designed to be visible across a wide area surrounding the stadium, the venue will not be open to the public, according to a Facebook post from the city. 4 Arkansas-based companies ranked in latest Fortune 500 list 'The City of Fayetteville is sharing this information so that residents can make accommodations for individuals and animals affected by fireworks displays,' the city said. 'Event organizers have designed the fireworks display to be visible to a large area surrounding the stadium.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. ‘Who Am I Sitting Next To?': NFL Star Travis Hunter Wins Hearts With Humble Airport Encounter

Travis Hunter, the Jacksonville Jaguars' No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, is making headlines for all the right reasons after a heartwarming interaction with a fellow passenger on a recent United Airlines flight. The former Colorado star and Heisman Trophy winner left a lasting impression on Sandy Hawkins Combs, who had no idea she was sitting next to a future NFL sensation until other passengers began approaching him. Combs shared her experience in a Facebook post that quickly went viral, praising Hunter for his exceptional manners and down-to-earth personality. The young athlete offered to help her with her bag, addressed her as 'ma'am,' and engaged in pleasant conversation throughout the flight. What stood out most to Combs wasn't Hunter's athletic achievements but his genuine humility and respectful demeanor, qualities that have endeared him to fans. This chance meeting between Hunter and Combs happened as she was flying home from Denver. Travis Hunter Shows MVP-Worthy Manners On Flight 'Anyone would be proud to have him as a son or grandson – so polite,' Combs wrote in her viral Facebook post. It wasn't until fellow passengers began approaching Hunter for photos that Combs realized her seatmate was someone special. 'I turned and asked him, 'Who am I sitting next to?' I looked at his Jaguar pants, smiled, and asked, 'Are you an athlete?' He smiled and said, 'I'm Travis. Yes, I was drafted by the Jags.' I already told my sons I want his jersey,' she recounted. Advertisement Hunter's impression on Combs extended beyond their brief encounter. She expressed her newfound support for the Jacksonville Jaguars, writing, 'He's so humble and down-to-earth—I would have never guessed he was a professional athlete. JACKSONVILLE JAGS, you did good! I will be buying tickets.' The Jacksonville Jaguars invested heavily to secure Hunter in the draft, trading up for the No. 2 pick by parting with the No. 5 overall pick, No. 36, No. 126, and a 2026 first-round pick.
