ServiceNow, the AI platform for business transformation, has released the ServiceNow Consumer Voice Report 2025.
Now in its third year, the report surveyed 17,000 adults across 13 EMEA countries, including 1,000 respondents from the UAE. It explored how consumers view AI's role in customer experience.
The findings revealed that despite the rise of AI in customer service, many UAE consumers still prefer human interaction. In fact, 68% said they favor speaking with people over AI for customer support.
ServiceNow reported that this is largely due to AI's perceived lack of emotional intelligence. 54% said AI is more likely to miss emotional cues
51% believe AI struggles with context and informal language
64% said scripted responses are mostly associated with AI
William O'Neill, Area VP, UAE at ServiceNow, stated that AI must now evolve beyond being just another support tool. He noted that customers expect AI to understand them emotionally, not just complete tasks.
The report also revealed a clear trust gap when it comes to AI handling complex or sensitive issues.
For simple tasks, UAE consumers show more acceptance: 23% trust AI for scheduling car service
24% are fine using chatbots to track lost packages
However, only 13% would trust AI to handle a suspicious bank transaction. Instead, 43% would prefer to speak with a human.
Similarly, only 20% would rely on AI to fix home internet issues. Half of the respondents preferred a phone call with a human agent.
ServiceNow reported that 47% of UAE consumers feel AI chatbots still fall short of expectations.
Yet, the report confirmed that consumers see AI as essential for top-tier customer experiences.
According to the findings, UAE consumers expect: Seamless service (90%)
Quick responses (89%)
Accurate information (88%)
In addition, 76% said companies should offer quality chatbot support. Meanwhile, 85% want self-service tools that help solve problems independently.
O'Neill added that AI is not failing but evolving. He emphasized that businesses must enhance AI with data, emotional awareness, and human collaboration.
He concluded that customers don't want less AI, they want smarter AI.
By resolving pain points, ServiceNow reported, companies can turn AI into a trusted ally.

EBM-Peek Freans AI powered storytelling redefines youth entertainment for the digital age

In today's digital age, technology is not just powering devices, it is shaping how the next generation learns, imagines, and connects. In a bold move redefining the role of artificial intelligence in children's educational content, a new animated series is winning hearts for how it was made. ' Piper Ki Duniya (World of Piper),' is a one of its kind educational content series built using AI-driven storytelling models that combine cultural insights, narrative structures, and emotional intelligence, creating rich, age-appropriate stories for children aged 4 to 12. The series was created by English Biscuit Manufacturers (EBM), the parent company of the iconic Peek Freans brand, a global name rooted in Pakistan, with a presence across the Middle East region. At the heart of this innovation is a seamless integration of human creativity and artificial intelligence. Teams based in USA and Pakistan used AI models from all over the world to create the animated series that brings the history of the Islamic world to life for Pakistani children. The 'Piper ki Duniya' team used American models Midjourney and Leonardo AI for character design, especially for Pied Piper, the brand mascot. They went on to use German model Flux AI for character consistency. Each character's 25 visuals were used to ensure consistency in facial features, expressions, and even clothing. These designs were then animated using American Runway AI and Chinese Kling AI, bringing the characters to life with smooth, lifelike motion. The result is a vibrant 3D revival of the beloved Peek Freans Pied Piper, brought to life in 'Piper Ki Duniya,' delivering universal values of kindness, patience, and generosity through stories designed to resonate across generations. Since its launch on the Peek Freans Young Pipers' Club YouTube channel, 'Piper Ki Duniya' has surpassed 100,000 subscribers in under four weeks with over 13 million views to date, earning YouTube's Silver Play Button. "As a parent, one of my biggest challenges has been teaching my 5-year-old values like patience, compassion, and faith in a way that truly connects with him. That insight inspired 'Piper Ki Duniya.' Today, technology is not just changing how we tell stories, its changing what stories mean to new audiences. With 'Piper Ki Duniya,' we have reimagined the iconic Pied Piper to deliver meaningful, values-driven content that sparks curiosity, encourages reflection, and creates shared moments for modern families,' said, Shahzain Munir, executive director at EBM. "Bringing Piper Ki Duniya to life was unlike any other project. We challenged the technology to go beyond algorithms and really reflect how children think, feel, and engage with content today. From character behaviour to dialogue rhythm, every element was shaped to feel intuitive and alive. It is a powerful reminder that AI is not just about automation; it can be a tool for imagination, curiosity, and emotional depth," said the representative from Singularity marketing. Having debuted during the Holy month of Ramadan, the AI-powered series aims to both engage and inspire children by weaving Islamic values with captivating narratives. Backed by data-driven insights and designed with children's attention spans in mind, the content is age-appropriate, engaging, and encourages family participation. Through AI-led storytelling EBM demonstrates its dedication to purposeful innovation by showing how modern technology safeguards cultural heritage while teaching longstanding values to future generations.

GlobalFoundries boosts investment plans to $16bln, with research focus

Chip manufacturer GlobalFoundries said on Wednesday it planned to increase its investment plans to $16 billion, allocating an additional $1 billion to capital spending and $3 billion to research in several emerging chip technologies. The Malta, New York-based company said it is working with the Trump administration to bring chip manufacturing technology and various components of that supply chain onto U.S. soil. The chip manufacturer attributed the expansion to the boom in artificial intelligence hardware, a trend that has also benefited other chipmakers such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. "The AI revolution is driving strong, durable demand for GF's technologies that enable tomorrow's data centers," GlobalFoundries Chief Executive Tim Breen said in a statement. The $1 billion capital spending boost is expected to support factory expansions in New York and Vermont, and is in addition to the $12 billion the company said in 2024 it planned to invest over the next 10 plus years. GlobalFoundries did not disclose a specific timeframe for the additional funding it announced on Wednesday. The $3 billion in research and development GlobalFoundries said it will spend will be split into three areas: chip packaging technologies, silicon photonics that can be used to make quantum computing processors, and gallium nitride which is used in electric vehicles and other power-related applications. In April, Intel and TSMC showed off their latest chip manufacturing and packaging capabilities at events, including the capability to stitch together multiple chips into a dinner-plate-sized device.
