Huge Sky TV channel switch up set to happen today - what do these changes mean?

Daily Record27-05-2025

Here is how Sky's latest change will affect your set-up box.
Sky is set to make a switch up to their channel lists today, so if users have memorised where their favourite channel is, you may want to look out to see if this shake up will impact your viewing experience.
Known mostly for their TV service, with popular channels such as Sky Atlantic, Sky Sports and National Geographic just to name a few, there is a whole other aspect to the Sky set-up boxes that users may sometimes forget. Every Sky box gives users access to a vast variety of music and news stations.

This means users can easily listen to the radio through their TV while they get on with their everyday tasks. For those who happen to have a favourite station to stick on in the background, it may now be part of Sky's shake up which sees over 30 services getting moved around on the channel guide.

On its community pages, Sky explains that the reason behind the switch up is to "close the gaps in the EPG" (Electronic Program Guide), reports the Express.
It is hoped that this change will mean users will be able to get to their favourite stations easier. The 'makeover' is said to take place on May 27 and users shouldn't need to retune their box as the switch should automatically take place.

On top of this, if Sky customers own the Sky Q box they also have something else to look out for this week.
As a result of a major glitch that took place across Sky Q boxes, the technology firm is giving users a free film as an apology for the inconvenience. However, users only have until May 31 to make their choice.

In the email, Sky said: "We're gifting you a Sky Store Buy & Keep movie — it's our way of saying thank you for bearing with us."
Some of the movies available as part of the gift include Bullet Train, Jumanji: The Next Level, Les Misérables, Venom, Gladiator, Bridesmaids and The Equalizer.
In order to get this film, Sky Q users need to go to the Sky Store from their TV homepage. From there, they should see a tile that says "Your Sky Store gift on us".
Sky states: "Once downloaded, this is yours to keep forever."

Sky's 'lowest price is back' as TV, Netflix and broadband at an all time low in payday sale

Sky has brought back a popular TV and broadband deal that's slashes prices to their 'lowest ever' in an surprise pay day sale. Just weeks after ending its Easter sale, Sky has once again discounted its Essential TV and Full Fibre 300 broadband bundle to £35 per month and is offering 300Mbps fibre broadband for the price of 150Mbps. Sky said 'our lowest ever price is back' as it announced the sale, which also sees the Ultimate TV and Full Fibre 300 broadband bundle, with more than 35 extra channels, reduced to £39. Typically, Sky's Full Fibre 300 costs £29 per month without any TV access, but the latest deals also grant access to more than 100 channels, including Sky Atlantic, Sky Sports News and major free-to-air channels like BBC, ITV and Channel 4. The combined packages also come with free Netflix and Discovery+ subscriptions, with the option to add Sky Cinema and Sky Sports for an additional £10 and £20 respectively. All of this is delivered via Sky Stream, the brand's new device that provides TV and streaming access through WiFi instead of a traditional satellite dish. Sky is now among the providers to adopt the new One Touch Switch scheme, which means customers don't have to contact their existing broadband provider to complete the switch. Rather, Sky will handle the necessary procedures on behalf of the customer. It's crucial to note that to benefit from the lower rates, customers must commit to a two-year contract, and Sky has indicated that the price for their TV and broadband packages 'may change' during this time. This includes the expected yearly price increase in April, a common practice among many companies, reports the Mirror. Earlier this year, a 6.2% rise was added to the cost of Sky's TV and broadband plans, which could suggest we'll see a similar change in April 2026. Nevertheless, Sky distinguishes itself by allowing consumers the chance to end their contracts early should a price increase be announced. Sky's latest promotional efforts rival Virgin's Bigger Combo bundle, which provides more than 200 channels and a 362Mbps fibre broadband connection at £34.99. Whilst this comes in just under Sky's price and promises around 60Mbps additional speed, it lacks Sky Atlantic and Netflix, which might turn some potential customers away. Amongst its competitors is the BT and EE Big Entertainment and Full Fibre 300, currently marketed at £48.99 per month for the initial six months but eventually exceeding £600 more across the length of the plan as it reverts to the regular £63.99. Sky customers have shared their positive experiences of the company on Trustpilot, where one glowing review said: "Sky Stream is a game changer. "Switched a few weeks back and it's the best decision I've ever made. Installation takes care of itself, the remote even auto-tunes itself to the TV. The best part is the ability to have a single charge for all your streaming subscriptions." This review offered a more mixed review, saying: "I wasn't happy with the service provided by Sky, phoned up to change my deal and was passed around like a parcel. Eventually, I got to speak to someone who knew what they were doing. I am happy my issue was finally resolved, but it took a lot of work." But this happy customer said: "I've been with lots of companies to get my TV and internet but the best service I have received out of them all is Sky. We changed to other companies because of the price but always go back to Sky."

Heart-stopping new footage emerges of Jordan Spieth ‘almost ending a fan's life' as golf shot goes badly wrong

Commentator could not believe what he witnessed JOR BLIMEY Heart-stopping new footage emerges of Jordan Spieth 'almost ending a fan's life' as golf shot goes badly wrong JORDAN SPIETH "almost ended a fan's life" when his golf shot went completely wrong. Spieth, 31, played at the Memorial Tournament at Muifield Village Golf Club this weekend. PGA Championship champ and world No1 Scheffler was immediately congratulated by wife Meredith on the 18th green - and was handed his one-year-old son Bennett who had what appeared to be a poo stain on his baby grow. But it was Spieth who also may have needed a change of underwear after things very nearly went horribly wrong on the very first hole of Sunday's final round. The three-time major winner hit his tee shot well right into the rough. Advertisement But his recovery shot out of the thick cut came scarily close to ending in a tragic disaster. Video footage showed the American lining up the shot in an awkward stance with the ball well above his feet. And as he makes the connection, the ball hurtled at rapid speed straight towards the large group of golf fans stood behind a rope to his right - rather than heading for the green as intended. The fans in direct line of the ball were forced to take emergency cover. Advertisement The commentator said: "Goodness me. He was full of confidence but never got the connection at all. "Hopefully everyone is okay. Jordan, what are you doing?" Scottie Scheffler living 'peak dad life' as he's handed baby son with 'poop stain' immediately after winning £3million The terrifying scenes were also filmed from the fans' view as the ball flew towards the camera. Thankfully, the fans somehow managed to get out of harm's way in time and avoided any serious injuries as Spieth recovered to make par. Advertisement But fans took to social media to express their shock and concern about the worrying incident - as fears grow for spectator safety. One said: "Spieth almost killing a fan on the first hole." Another wrote: "This view of Jordan Spieth almost ending a fan's life is crazy. "It's wild that more serious injuries or even deaths don't happen on tour. Fans have zero fear, even when it's a tough shot." Advertisement A third added: "Spieth nearly decapitates a fan." And a final user commented: "People are way too trusting when trying to get a closer look at pros. "When Jordan was preparing for the shot I was thinking, those people could be in path of the ball. "The PGA and tournaments needs to reconsider how position fans on shots like that." Advertisement 4 A fan's video footage showed just how scary the moment was Credit: X
