Singapore ex-actor Ian Fang bows as he begins 40-month jail term for sex with minor, says hopes to be ‘a better version' of himself

SINGAPORE, June 16 — Singapore former actor Ian Fang has reportedly surrendered himself to the State Courts today to undergo his 40-month prison sentence.
The Straits Times reported that Fang arrived with a woman said to be his mother.
'I definitely will try my best to be a better person, a better version of myself. It is an expensive and very huge mistake that I need to pay off.
'I believe it will definitely make me a better person. I really hope that everyone can give me a chance, to show that I can be the person you want me to be,' he was quoted saying, bowing afterwards.
Last month, the actor whose real name is Fang Wei Jie, admitted to three counts of sexual penetration of a minor, while three additional similar charges were taken into consideration, along with one count each of obstruction of justice and stalking.
The offences occurred after the pair met at an entertainment event, with Fang then working as an acting teacher at a child modelling school catering to students aged four to 14.
Fang has since left acting and maintained a low profile before his legal troubles came to light.
In Singapore, statutory rape applies only to a sexual act with a minor below 14 under Section 376A of the Penal Code.

Air India plane crash investigators find Boeing 787 Dreamliner's second "black box"

New Delhi — Investigators in India have found the second "black box" — the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) — at the crash site of Air India flight 171, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that slammed into buildings in the western city of Ahmedabad on Thursday, killing all but one of the 242 people on board and dozens more on the ground. "The Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) have been located and secured," an official from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's office said in a statement late on Sunday. The hope is that the voice recorder will help investigators piece together what caused the plane to crash just minutes after it took off from Ahmedabad Airport. The CVR captures audio from the cockpit, including conversations between pilots, alarms and ambient sounds. A mayday call was sent by the flight captain, Sumeet Sabharwal, seconds after the London-bound plane left the runway in Ahmedabad. Rescue workers and investigators recovered the other black box, the flight data recorder, on Friday. The FDR logs reems of data from the various systems on modern passenger jets, everything from altitude and speed to engine performance. Black boxes are designed to survive crashes and are considered vital to air accident investigators in determining the cause of disasters. Raju Shinde/Hindustan Times/Getty India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is leading the probe into the Thursday crash of flight 171. They are being assisted by teams from the U.S. and the U.K. A team from the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) surveyed the crash site in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The Hindustan Times newspaper reported that representatives from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had also surveyed the crash site. "The AAIB has launched a detailed investigation, and the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is conducting a parallel probe under international protocols since the aircraft is American-made," Prime Minister Modi's office said in a statement on Sunday. India's government also established a high-level committee specifically to investigate the crash and to recommend any changes deemed necessary to standard operating procedures going forward. That committee held its first meeting Monday. At least 33 people were killed on the ground as the Air India plane crashed into a building that housed students from a medical college next door. As the investigations into one of the worst accidents in India's aviation history continued, the families of hundreds of victims were still waiting to have their loved ones' remains returned to them. The plane went up in a massive ball of flames and much of the fuselage was reduced to rubble, making it difficult for authorities to retrieve and identify bodies. Officials have been working to match DNA samples from crash victims' remains and family members since late last week. CBS News saw several families of victims at the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad waiting for the bodies of their loved ones. The remains of at least 24 people had been handed over to their families as of Monday, authorities said. "It's a long process and it will take its own time," Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G S Malik told CBS News on Monday. He said the final death toll would only be confirmed after all DNA testing was complete. "Over 400 family members have reached Ahmedabad and are being assisted by our teams on the ground," Air India said in a statement on Sunday. India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation told Air India to carrying out additional safety checks on all of its Boeing Dreamliner fleet last week.

‘Stellar Blade' Rockets To A Million PC Sales In Three Days

Stellar Blade If you wanted evidence that a game with wide appeal being locked into a single console in a single generation is perhaps not ideal, look no further than the launch of the PC version of Stellar Blade. Developer SHIFTUP has just announced that Stellar Blade has sold a million copies on PC in just three days of launch, which has brought the total up to 3 million sales since its release in April 2024, a 50% jump almost instantly. The game has seen a huge boost overseas, particularly in China where reportedly 58% of copies have been sold. The game is also cheaper there compared to the $60 dollar version in the US. Previously, PlayStation's Shuhei Yoshida has said China in particular is a driving force behind these PlayStation PC ports. Here's Yoshida speaking to Sacred Symbols earlier this year: The global sales surge has been evidenced by a sky-high concurrent playercount that topped 190,000 this weekend. The new version is reviewing very positively, a 92% ratio on Steam and an 86 metacritic score. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder Stellar Blade Even before this PC launch, Stellar Blade was a big success for SHIFTUP, this being the developer's first AAA game, where that, combined with being a new IP, made the achievement all the more impressive. SHIFTUP has confirmed that in addition to further updates to the base game (of which there have been many) that a sequel is planned for 2027, most likely, though details are scarce about what that might look like. It remains to be seen if that sequel will once again be a PlayStation exclusive, and there are no announced plans to eventually get the game over to Xbox, which is no great surprise. The PC audience is likely expansion enough for Sony, and this has almost tripled the previous record for a PC port of one of its formerly exclusive games (Ghost of Tsushima). Sony's current plan is to release most of its big AAA single player games on PC eventually, but that day can be years. Multiplayer games, however, are launching day and date on PC, which has been successful with Helldivers 2, albeit that remains its only major success in its recent live service push. Stellar Blade, in addition to proving that PC is a huge market for certain games, has also helped push the narrative that people want original, single player games instead of endless rehashes and live services. Even so, we don't see success at this level that often. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram. Pick up my sci-fi novels the Herokiller series and The Earthborn Trilogy.
