Kolkata/Bolpur: Bengal administration will ensure "the social security" of migrant workers willing to return to the state and help them resettle here.
"You have the police helpline number. Contact us, let us know when you wish to return and we will bring you back by train," Bengal CM
Mamata Banerjee
said on Monday before Trinamool's first "Bhasha Andolan" march in Santiniketan, the seat of Tagore's Visva-Bharati.
"We will give you social security and will admit your kids to school. There is no need to stay in a place where no one loves you. No need to stay in Mumbai, UP or Rajasthan. I may not be able to feed you pithe or payesh (Bengali desserts) but, if we eat one roti, we will ensure you get one, too. You can live here in peace," the CM said, adding that 22 lakh migrants from Bengal worked in other states.

"There's no need to rely on brokers to work outside.
When they (workers) are abused, brokers disappear. If they wish to return, they shall return. If they have a place to stay here, fine. If not, we will set up camps. We will give them ration cards, health cards, and jobs under the Karmashree project," she said.
CM Mamata Banerjee also told West Bengal Migrant Workers' Welfare Board chairperson Samirul Islam, "Sit with the chief secretary, take Moloy (state law and labour minister Moloy Ghatak) with you and formulate a scheme to bring the migrant workers back."

The CM's statements came during an administrative meeting at Bolpur's Gitanjali Stadium.
Following the meeting, Banerjee led the "Bhasha Andolan" march which covered a three-kilometre stretch, from the Tourist Lodge crossing and culminated at Jamboni bus stand. The CM thanked 'Ashramiks' for joining the march and the state's large non-Bengali population for supporting the protests.
Following the march, Banerjee said, she could lay down her life for Bangla and the Bengali 'Asmita'.
"I am not against any language. We want unity and threatening and harassing people is not our way. Even yesterday, a (Bengali) child in Delhi was beaten up. Cops are taking them from one police station to another. Then one day, he and his family will disappear and police will say this was a fake claim. This is not how we (govts) should work.
The job is to work for development," she said.
Alleging that there was a bigger "game plan" in play, Banerjee said: "Assam govt is sending NRC notices to a tribal family in Alipurduar.
In Maharashtra, Matuas are being persecuted. A worker is murdered…I cannot even recognise this country any more. The country I know sustains all people, my country keeps everyone happy. If they (BJP-led state govts) continue like this, the country will get fragmented. This is their game plan.
"
She also asked how Bengal residents were being pushed to Bangladesh despite having all relevant documents. "Remember, this is Bengal. It led the country in the freedom struggle, abolished Sati and ensured widow remarriage. Do not test us," Banerjee said, adding: "Those who ask as to why Bengalis are working in other states should know that Bengalis get work because of their skills. There are 1.5 crore migrants from other states working here.
We don't misbehave with them. Why should you?"

‘Har Ghar Tiranga'awakening patrioticfervour, says Yogi

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday described the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign as a nationwide movement to awaken patriotic spirit, not just a symbolic act of flag hoisting. Addressing the BJP 's organisational meeting at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, the CM said, "This is the fourth consecutive year of the campaign under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guidance, and it has become a powerful expression of national consciousness. " Calling upon party workers to join the campaign by hoisting the national flag at their homes and encouraging others to do the same, the CM said that promoting indigenous products through ODOP scheme alongside this initiative would help build an economically self-reliant India and counter external pressures. Lashing out at the Congress and opposition parties, he said that the truth in the Malegaon case had exposed conspiracies against Hindu beliefs. Criticising the opposition for spreading misinformation around 'Operation Sindoor', he accused them of shielding anti-national forces. On the voter list revision drive, Yogi said it was not merely an administrative task but a political responsibility. He urged BJP workers to ensure no eligible voter was left out. State BJP president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary called 'Har Ghar Tiranga' a reflection of national pride and civic responsibility inspired by PM Modi. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is this legal? No record of 2023 letter on forged voter entries: Chief electoral officer to ex-minister

Bengaluru: The Karnataka chief electoral officer (CEO) has said there are no records of any letter or complaint filed by former minister and Congress functionary H Nagesh on alleged forged entries in the 2023 electoral rolls of Mahadevapura assembly constituency in Bengaluru. This comes days ahead of Lok Sabha opposition leader and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's scheduled visit to Bengaluru to address alleged vote theft involving the same Mahadevpura segment during the 2024 parliamentary elections. In a communication Friday, the CEO's office responded to Nagesh's July 31 request, clarifying no such letter had been received from him during April 2023 — the time period during which he claims to have submitted the complaint. In his July 31 letter, Nagesh claimed the documents submitted in April 2023 listed fake or forged entries in the voter list of Mahadevapura. "This issue is of grave concern as it affects the transparency and fairness of the electoral process," he wrote. However, the CEO's office has clarified: "This office does not have records of any such letter received from you during April 2023 on the issue of electoral rolls with a list containing details of alleged forged entries… which you have suddenly raised now." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 15 Most Beautiful Female Athletes in the World Click Here Undo It also noted that the contesting candidate had been provided the statutory electoral rolls during the elections as per norms. "Since then, you have not filed any election petition… nor any appeal… against entries in the electoral rolls published in 2023," the CEO said, citing provisions of the Representation of the People Act. CM Fadnavis Performs Bhoomipujan of Vidarbha's First Fisheries College in Morshi

1 2 3 4 Amravati: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday performed the bhoomipujan for Vidarbha's first and the state's fourth Fisheries College at Morshi in Amravati district. Speaking at the ceremony, Fadnavis said that fisheries is now a priority sector after being granted the status of farming by the state govt, enabling fish farmers to avail loans, Kisan Credit Cards, and other benefits. "Though sea fishing gets more attention, 40% of fishing activity happens in rivers. We are committed to supporting river fishing and farm-lake fisheries, which are creating jobs and helping farmers in distress," he said. Fadnavis stated that the ₹1 lakh crore Wainganga-Nalganga water project will bring water from the Gosikhurd dam to 31 reservoirs in Buldhana district. Additionally, ₹25,000 crore will be invested in agriculture over the next five years. Fisheries minister Nitesh Rane promised to complete the college building within two years and shared plans for AI-based innovations in the fisheries sector. MP Anil Bonde delivered the introductory remarks. The event was attended by guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, several MLAs and MPs, and senior officials. Fadnavis also unveiled the cornerstone of the college and was felicitated by the local fishing community. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 20 Legendary Cars from the Past Undo Fadnavis noted that despite loan waivers, many farmers continue to fall into debt. He said the state government has set up a committee to devise a long-term plan to address the issue comprehensively. Rane took a veiled swipe at Uddhav Thackeray, saying the Fisheries College project, originally planned in 2019, was delayed due to "flat-footed politics" that compromised on Hindutva.
