'Amazing' Delap will score goals - Chelsea team-mates praise striker
Following his Chelsea debut in the 2-0 win over Los Angeles FC at the Club World Cup, Liam Delap's new team-mates have backed the £30m man to be a success at the club. After Delap made an impressive cameo appearance from the bench in the second half, defender Levi Colwill said: "I've known Liam for a long time now, and I've played against him loads of times. Growing up, you know what sort of players are going to make it and he was always one of those."To have him in our team, to train against him, to see him score goals - which I know he will - I'm very excited."Much has been made of Delap taking on the number nine shirt at Stamford Bridge, but Colwill is not expecting him to feel the pressure."I know he wouldn't listen to that or read too much into it because he's a confident player. He's an amazing player, and we know he's going to score goals for Chelsea. That's the mentality we need from every player."Meanwhile, Tosin Adarabioyo added: "He's settled in very well. He's a good young lad and we know what qualities he brings."He's aggressive [when] pressing and an aggressive striker, making sure he's always there, setting the intensity. Hopefully he scores many goals for us."

Alexander-Arnold aims subtle Liverpool dig as he reveals Real Madrid difference
Trent Alexander-Arnold has raved about his new environment at Real Madrid as he hailed his new colleagues after choosing to leave Liverpool when his contract expired Trent Alexander-Arnold claims his early days as a Real Madrid player are "a lot different to what I'm used to" as he hailed the quality of his new team-mates. The right-back has just joined from Liverpool as he embarks on a fresh challenge. Alexander-Arnold has linked up with his new team for a small fee ahead of time so he can play for Real in the Club World Cup. The former Red has forged a reputation as among the best players in his position in the world and is looking to acclimatise to a new environment. He's left the Premier League champions and joined a team who, despite their poor season, were winning the Champions League just over a year ago. He's now rubbing shoulders with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jnr. Liverpool themselves were not short of star names with Mohamed Salah their headline act, but Alexander-Arnold is now getting used to his new team-mates as he trains in the heat of the United States and gets to grips with a new philosophy. He told the club's website: "Hot to start with but a good session with some good things. [It was] good to get a feel of the ball and a feel of the heat training in this climate so it was a good session. "[It was] high quality. The ball moves very fast. Obviously it's a lot different to what I'm used to in terms of the players and the style of play but it's good and I'm enjoying the change and I'm enjoying being a part of it. It feels really good and I'm happy to be here to be honest." Alexander-Arnold's decision to quit Liverpool divided opinion as the player expressed a desire to seek a new challenge. Many in red were frustrated that he allowed his contract to wind down, meaning the club couldn't demand a big fee for him, as he was booed by some in the season's final games. Alexander-Arnold made headlines for speaking Spanish in his presentation as a Los Blancos player and has revealed he is able to communicate with his new team-mates in the language, but in an effort to make him feel welcome some are also chatting to him in English. "I can't say enough about the lads and how they made me feel welcome and at home," he said. "They've all put in a lot of effort, spoken to me, made me feel comfortable and made sure any questions I had - especially with the translations and things - they've helped me a lot with everything. I can't thank them enough and now we're excited for the game to start."

Chelsea fans demand immediate Premier League change after Club World Cup trial
The Club World Cup over in the USA has had a slow start despite huge spending from FIFA but some fans were left impressed at one aspect of Chelsea's opening win against LAFC Chelsea fans have demanded to see referee cameras in the Premier League after being left impressed by footage of Pedro Neto's goal. The Blues took on MLS side LAFC in their opening group game of the Club World Cup. Pedro Neto had given Enzo Maresca 's side in the first half, with Enzo Fernandez eventually securing victory late on. But it was the Portuguese winger's strike that got Chelsea fans talking. His brilliant solo effort was captured on the referee's chest-mounted body camera, with some fans fawning over a brilliant skill he showed to skip inside before scoring past Hugo Lloris. And some fans have now called for the technology to be introduced into the Premier League from next season. One fan said: "Ref cam will be a huge blessing in English football," while another replied to the Premier League asking: "Can we have this?" "Wow. We need this in the PL," a final fan said. FIFA Referees Committee chairman and legendary referee Pierluigi Collina confirmed the introduction of ref cams ahead of the tournament. "Having a camera worn by the referee will give the TV viewers the possibility to put themselves in the referee's shoes and they will watch what the referee can see live during the match," he said. "It's a new experience. It's also understanding what a referee can see during different phases of play. And, yeah, I think it will also offer the possibility to TV viewers to understand how the referee's job is difficult.' The Premier League have actually had referee cams in the past, with Jarred Gillett wearing a camera during Crystal Palace 's 4-0 thrashing of Manchester United during the 2023/24 season. It remains to be seen if they feature again at some point in the future. And while Chelsea fans were left thrilled by the footage, Blues boss Maresca still had his complaints as his side played in a near-empty stadium. Speaking after Monday's win, he said: 'It was a good match, a good performance. 'I think the environment was a bit strange. You know, the stadium was almost empty. Not full. We prepared for this game also thinking that the environment was a bit different. 'But no doubt that the next one will be a nice one because we know that the Brazilian team, they always bring many, many fans. So we will try to be ready for the next one. We are professional and have to adapt to any situation or environment.' Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
