25 Killed In Kenya Bus Crash
At least 25 people have been killed after a bus carrying mourners from a funeral overturned in western Kenya, according to local authorities.
Police reports indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle on Friday afternoon, veering off the Kisumu–Kakamega highway and rolling into a ditch. The region is notorious for frequent and deadly road accidents.
Among the victims were 10 women, 10 men, and a young girl who died at the scene. Twenty passengers were injured, five of them critically. Officials later
confirmed
that four of the injured died in hospital.
The passengers were returning from a burial ceremony in Nyahera and travelling to Nyakach, around 62 kilometers away. Authorities believe most of those on board were members of the same extended family.
Kenyan President William Ruto has called for swift accountability for any negligence that may have contributed to the crash and urged strict enforcement of traffic laws to improve road safety nationwide.
