MSME Entrepreneurs Stand Chance To Join Oxford LEAP Programme Worth Over RM20,000

KOTA BHARU, June 25 (Bernama) -- Micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) entrepreneurs have a chance to join the LEAP programme at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, worth over RM20,000, through the #UnifiBusinessTakeMeToOxford contest organised by Unifi Business in conjunction with MSME Day 2025.
Unifi's chief commercial officer for Consumer and SME Strategy, Shanti Jusnita Johari, said two winners will receive the grand prize, while other attractive rewards include a GoBookit solution bundle and an exclusive masterclass with renowned entrepreneur Pinn Yang.
To enter, participants must subscribe to a Unifi Business plan and promote their businesses on social media using the hashtags #SapotLokal, #BelanjaDiSme and #UnifiBusinessTakeMeToOxford during the contest period from June 23 to July 31.
'The contest is open to all entrepreneurs nationwide, regardless of whether they are Unifi Business customers. Those who enter early will have a higher chance of winning,' she said in a statement.
In celebration of MSME Day, Unifi Business is also conducting a roadshow across the East Coast at three locations: Pasar Besar Siti Khadijah in Kota Bharu (June 24), Bazar Serambi Teruntum in Kuantan (July 2), and Pasar Payang in Kuala Terengganu (July 5).
As part of the celebration, Unifi Business launched the Go Bookit postpaid package with the UNI5G Business plan on May 30.
Shanti said the Go Bookit app is designed to help entrepreneurs manage customers and appointments more efficiently.
'It's perfect for solo entrepreneurs offering appointment-based services such as makeup artists, electricians, plumbers, tailors, salon owners and others.
'The package also comes with a free 5G smartphone, making it a cost-effective option for entrepreneurs looking to digitalise and grow their businesses,' she added.

DOSM: Malaysia's FDI inflows jump 33pc to RM51.5b in 2024, services sector leads the way
KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 — Malaysia recorded a net inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) totalling RM51.5 billion in 2024, up from RM38.6 billion in the preceding year, according to Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM). In a statement, the department noted that total income earned by foreign companies in Malaysia rose to RM99.8 billion compared to RM88.4 billion in 2023. This increase was mainly driven by income from equity and investment fund shares which amounted to RM95.9 billion, and interest income of RM3.9 billion. 'As of the end of 2024, the country's cumulative FDI position stood at RM995.5 billion, up from RM924.0 billion in previous year,' it said. Meanwhile, DOSM said FDI flows in the form of equity and investment fund shares recorded a net inflow of RM28.0 billion, contributing to an accumulated position of RM832.9 billion. Debt instruments registered a net inflow of RM23.5 billion with the position valued at RM162.6 billion. By sectors, it said the services sector contributed the highest FDI inflows at RM39.4 billion, with a total position of RM524.8 billion. This was followed by the manufacturing sector which generated the highest FDI income valued at RM54.6 billion, followed by services sector. In 2024, the largest FDI inflows geographically originated from the Asian region, totalling RM50.3 billion, with Singapore and Hong Kong as the primary sources. Investors from this region also recorded the highest income, amounting to RM46.5 billion. — Bernama

Malaysia's Trade In Services Up 14.6 Pct To RM497.4 Bln In 2024
KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's total trade in services rose by 14.6 per cent to RM497.4 billion last year from RM434.0 billion in 2023, contributing 25.8 per cent to the gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices. In a statement today, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said exports of services grew by 24.6 per cent to RM242.9 billion from RM195.0 billion in the previous year. Similarly, imports of services increased by 6.5 per cent to RM254.5 billion against RM239.0 billion in 2023.
