Report: Bengals contact Trey Hendrickson, gain no traction toward deal
June 10 - NFL sacks leader Trey Hendrickson remains on the sideline with stalled contract talks with the Cincinnati Bengals pointing to a prolonged absence from the team. The Athletic reported the Bengals reached out to Hendrickson on Monday but conversations were fruitless. The defensive end is expected to be absent from minicamp as he looks for a new deal or trade that would bring him the payday he desires. Cincinnati did get rookie defensive end Shemar Stewart in the building in a relative sign of progress. But Stewart, a first-round pick, is unsigned and ESPN reported he won't participate on the field this week without a contract. With a base salary of $15.8 million, Hendrickson believes he's underpaid relative to the market value of the top-paid players at his position. He has a salary cap hit of $18.6 million this season and led the league with 17.5 sacks in 2024. No player has more sacks combined over the past two seasons than Hendrickson (35). Hendrickson, 30, hasn't been with the team for a month -- since he came to the facility on May 13 for a face-to-face meeting with head coach Zac Taylor. Taylor told Hendrickson at the time the Bengals would have no choice but to fine him if he didn't come to mandatory minicamp and training camp in July. "A little bit transpired between me and Zac," Hendrickson said. "We've tried to keep it as least amount as personal as possible, but at some point, in this process, it becomes personal." Stewart, 21, is not planning to sign with the Bengals until they adjust the language in their contract offer to match the outline of the team's previous two first-round selections, according to multiple reports. --Field Level Media

Report: Seahawks extend P Michael Dickson through '29
June 10 - All-Pro punter Michael Dickson has agreed to a four-year, $16.2 million extension with the Seattle Seahawks, NFL Network reported on Tuesday. Dickson, 29, who was entering the final season of a four-year, $14.5 million extension signed in 2021, once again becomes the NFL's highest-paid punter. The new deal runs through 2029 for the Australia-born Dickson, who has played in all 116 regular-season games for Seattle since making his NFL debut with Pro Bowl and All-Pro first-team nods in 2018. Dickson averaged 49.4 yards per punt in 2024 to finish in the league's top seven for the fifth time in seven seasons. His career average of 48.2 yards ranks third all-time, and he has had only one of 504 career punts blocked. --Field Level Media

Report: T.J. Watt skipping Steelers' mandatory minicamp
June 10 - Pittsburgh Steelers star T.J. Watt is not attending this week's mandatory minicamp amid contract negotiations, according to multiple reports. The All-Pro outside linebacker, who is entering the final year of his current deal, was also a no-show for voluntary OTAs earlier this offseason. Watt, 30, would be subject to more than $104,000 in fines if he misses all three days of the minicamp. The NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement permits daily fines if players are absent from mandatory offseason activities and practices without team approval. The market for elite pass rushers has accelerated since 2021, when Watt signed a five-year, $112 million contract with $80 million guaranteed. In March, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett signed a four-year, $160 million deal with $123.5 million guaranteed. It was the richest deal in NFL history for a non-quarterback. Watt was selected to the Pro Bowl each of the past seven years, and he made first-time All-Pro in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023. He was the NFL's 2021 Defensive Player of the Year after tallying a career-high 22.5 sacks. In 2024, Watt led the NFL with six forced fumbles while logging 11.5 sacks, 61 tackles, four passes defended and two fumble recoveries in 17 games. Over his eight-year NFL career, all with the Steelers, Watt has 108 sacks, 462 tackles, 33 forced fumbles, 12 fumble recoveries, 49 passes defensed and seven interceptions. --Field Level Media
