River Island shoppers 'obsessed' with dress that's 'so beautiful'
River Island's new dress has shoppers "obsessed" after seeing it on social media
River Island shoppers are heaping praise on a "stunning" dress they've spotted on social media. The high street giant is well known for its on-trend clothing and accessories - and now there's a new favourite drawing attention.
The Green Premium Embellished Mini Shift Dress is priced at £150 and is usually available in sizes six to 18, though a number of these are currently sold out. The mini dress features an abstract print, square neckline, sleeveless design and sequin and beading embellishment.
River Island says the dress, which is 100% Polyester, should be ironed on the reverse and is machine washable (at maximum 30°C). The retailer warns against bleaching, tumble drying and dry cleaning the dress.
For those searching for the perfect glittering dress, New Look stocks the Mink Sequinned Mini Dress for £24, down from £45.99. PrettyLittleThing has the Stone Floral Twill Bodycon Dress for £28, while ASOS has the velvet embellished bodice bandeau mini dress on sale for £69, down from £125.
River Island took to Instagram to share the Green Premium Embellished Mini Shift Dress, in a post captioned: "Summer birthday girls, we got you." The clip racked up more than 2,800 likes and many comments from excited fans.
Among them, one person said: "Wowwww" and a second wrote: "Leo girl here. Need this." A third added: "Ooooo!!! River island is bringing the goods."
A fourth wrote: " Obsessed." A fifth shopper said: "Amazing design," and a sixth added: "Ooh she pretty."
Some shoppers have taken to review website TrustPilot to share their thoughts on River Island, particularly when it comes to large sizing, so it might be worth keeping this in mind when ordering online. One person said: "Lovely quality but not great sizing."
Another customer shared: "The quality of most clothes I've tried on are good... but the sizing is HUGE!! I recently bought some new UK size 6 shorts, skirts, jeans and trousers and they slid down my hips and legs! They wouldn't stay on my hips! The dress was huge on me too! I've had to return most of the order (kept the UK size 4 items)."
Despite this, many shoppers continued to praise the mini dress online. Among the comments, one person said: " Actual dream dress," while another called it "stunning."
A different shopper said: "I mean, its a need," and one wrote: " Virgo here...you have my attention." Another added: "LOVE THIS."
The praise continued, with one shopper writing: " Omg I need this" and a second saying: "So beautiful." A third fan added: "It's giving luxury."
A fourth wrote: "Dress heaven." A fifth said: " Gemini birthday girlie, obsessed I need this for my next trip" and a sixth added: "How beautiful."

Next shoppers 'wish they did more colours' of £38 summer dress
The dress has already sold out in a couple of sizes after shoppers shared their love for it online. Next shoppers have found a summer dress they're eager to add to their wardrobe in multiple colours. The high street store has claimed this versatile piece as perfect for both glam evenings out, like sipping cocktails by the sea on holiday, or casual daytime outings such as park picnics. Available online for £38, the Jersey Waisted Summer Dress is available in a variety of colours including cream, navy, chocolate brown and olive green. It caters to a wide range of sizes from 6 to 22, with petite fitting also an option. Next bosses describe this lightweight dress as "ideal for summer", claiming it could be styled for "beachside cocktails or picnics in the park". It was further highlightes by the chain as having a "versatile and timeless" design, featuring a "flattering" neckline, waist detailing and handy side pockets. For those looking to expand their summer wardrobe, there are plenty of similar dresses on the market, such as Uniqlo's Crepe Jersey Bra Camisole Dress, made from a similar stretchy fabric and priced at £34.90. New Look also offers its Jersey Tiered Skirt Midi Smock Dress for a bargain £19.99. However, it seems many fans have been won over by the Next dress. The brand suggests it can be easily "dressed up with sandals and heels or down with your favourite trainers" depending on the occasion, reports Belfast Live. Shoppers certainly seemed to agree, judging by the glowing reviews. One customer said: "Gorgeous fit and style with quality fabric and a silky, cotton texture. It's not see-through and has pockets. I love this dress so much, I've bought it in the two other colours too." Another added: "Lovely dress and so comfortable to wear." A third wrote: "Looks so simple but looks and fits amazingly." Someone else shared: "Excellent product, fits well. The material is soft and washes and irons easily. I have bought both navy and cream. I wish they did more colours." The retailer was upfront with a disclaimer on their site letting shoppers know that "this product has a smaller fit than usual". This could account for some feedback which reported a need to size up for extra comfort. There was a bit of extra criticism from one reviewer who claimed: "The material was completely see-through and the top was very tight. Item was returned." However, the positive feedback was overwhelming. A fifth buyer who rated the item as five stars said: "A flattering fit, high waistline, smooth fabric feel, and so easy to wear in warmer nights yet also cooler evenings due to the length. Perfect paired with flats or a wedge."

Jess Cartner-Morley's June style essentials: from treat-yourself dresses to high-street bling
I try to be realistic about what people will spend when I do these edits. When we're shopping and see something we like, the first thing almost all of us do is look at the price. What with money not growing on trees and all that. If I see something nice in a shop, then check the tag and find it to be out of my budget (or just overpriced), I move swiftly on. By the same logic, if I spot a contender for this monthly roundup but then discover it's prohibitively expensive – which happens a lot these days, 'sticker shock' being a familiar syndrome in an era of fashion hyperinflation – I am not inclined to include it. The Guardian's journalism is independent. We will earn a commission if you buy something through an affiliate link. Learn more. But we can't be sensible all the time. I don't need to remind you that it's better to buy fewer good, long-lasting things than loads of cheap tat. Then there's the fact that, sometimes, an object is worth spending money on not because it's objectively worth a lot of money, but just because it's worth a lot to you. Plus, June is my birthday month, so you have to indulge me, OK? So, there's a couple of splurges in here, should you be in the market for a dreamy dress or two. But also: the £46.75 swimsuit that's in every chic holiday luggage, and some utterly brilliant earrings for less than £20. Because, that's real life. Cut-out strap sandals £28 at River Island I'm a huge fan of this particular shape of flat sandal, which I find to be sufficiently aesthetic to wear with a dress for a nice holiday dinner, eliminating the need to pack any heels. The key is that the upper of the shoe doesn't cover your toes, and doesn't extend too close to where your foot bends at the ankle. Straps across the front of the ankle rarely look good without a heel. Dismiss anything with a kitten heel (impractical), anything with a dividing post between the toes (blisters) and anything with metal touching your skin (hot). These are pretty perfect, in tan suede or chocolate leather. Crystal maxi skirt £155 at Odd Muse This is a two-in-one to introduce you to a useful concept (the party skirt) and a useful brand (Odd Muse). A really fancy long skirt – think pearls or fringing or feathers – looks chic for a daytime summer do (white shirt, flat sandals, sunglasses) and will be perfect with a neat sweater and kitten heels for winter parties. This maxi skirt comes in white, mint and black (now almost sold out in the latter). Odd Muse is one to keep an eye on. I hummed and hawed and missed out on the Odd Muse piece I coveted this season – the pearl-dotted Ultimate Muse Embellished Midi Dress, £165, now sold out in most sizes – but the skirt is equally fabulous. Domino earrings £15.99 at Zara These earrings hit that perfect sweet spot of being novelty enough to be interesting and a bit of a conversation-starter without ever suggesting that you're anything less than sophisticated. J'adore. Elizabeth dress £595 at Reiss£595 at Next There are two ways of looking at the £595 price tag on this Reiss dress. The first, obviously, is that almost £600 is a lot of money for a dress from a high-street store. But the second is that this dress genuinely passes for top-dollar designer fashion, and a dress with this level of detailing – the pearl and amber teardrop beads at the shoulder cut-out are divine in closeup – would cost five times that from a fancy label. A fellow fashion editor wore this dress at an extremely snazzy fashion dinner in Italy, and it not only passed as designer but was much complimented. Printed silk-trimmed mini dress £345 at the Outnet When I was in my 20s, I had a Pucci dress. God, I loved that dress. When I read that Marilyn Monroe was buried in her favourite Pucci dress, that made perfect sense to me. Anyway, that didn't happen, because I wore that dress on so many nights out – including one where I fell in a swimming pool – that eventually the jersey lost its spring and the colours faded. I still miss it and I still obsess over Pucci, so I hereby point you to the Outnet, where you can often find some summer treasures, like this mini dress with distinctive swirly epaulettes, which is snazzy-beach-lunch perfection and reduced from £690 to £345. Rhodes cup-size bikini top £52 at BodenMatching classic bikini bottoms £36 at Boden Speaking of Pucci. I'm generally a black-or-navy swimwear gal, but I've fallen hard for this structured Boden bikini top and matching classic bikini bottoms in the joyful, Amalfi-coast-lunch blues, yellows and reds of the Wildflower colourway. Also available in navy and white stripes if you're feeling sensible. Sign up to The Filter Get the best shopping advice from the Filter team straight to your inbox. Lab-grown diamonds – which are very much real diamonds – are disrupting the industry. Fenton is a small, female-founded British jewellery brand using pioneering solar diamonds, grown using renewable energy instead of fossil fuels. A pair of diamond studs, with solid 14-carat gold, starts at £180. Never going to go out of style. Iphi top £39 at Blacktogrey No self-respecting Jane-Birkin-in-Provence is complete without a barely-there superfine T-shirt. Blacktogrey is a sustainable label making simple pieces designed with end-of-life recycling in mind. (Send your worn-out piece back, and Blacktogrey will do the recycling for you.) The boat neck detail elevates this top. Las Flores swimsuit £46.75 at John Lewis John Lewis tells us that this one-shouldered swimsuit has been a huge hit: customers love it because the shoulder detailing and sturdy, non-transparent fabric make it perfect for wearing as a top, so it does double duty on holiday. A smart buy. Carpenter straight-leg trousers £32.50 at M&S Poor old M&S has had a time of it, hasn't it? At the time of writing, online orders are still paused. A silver lining for me has been that when I've nipped into M&S to buy things I couldn't order online, I've spotted a few nice bits that I'd missed on the website. These Carpenter straight-leg trousers have little touches of utility styling that make them feel weekendy – deep pockets at the hip, a hammer loop, robust fabric that turns up easily when needed – but a sleek outline, and belt loops if you want to smarten them up. Jacquard weave dress £37.99 at H&M Let's end on a steal. I love this H&M jacquard weave dress for two reasons. First, the fabric, which is nubbly and tactile and looks way more expensive than it is. Second, the fit, with soft gathers at the waist and a slight scrunch to the side, well-thought-out details that blur the details of your outline in a graceful way. The pale pink is sold out in most sizes, but the ivory is cute too.

Today's horoscope for as Cancer keeps their cool
Today's horoscope for June 1 sees one star sign try to keep the peace, while another is feeling generous It's Sunday, June 1, and one star sign try to keep costs low, as another is rewarded for their hard work. There are 12 zodiac signs - Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces - and the horoscopes for each can give you the lowdown on what your future holds, be it in work, your love life, your friends and family or more. These daily forecasts have been compiled by astrologer Russell Grant, who has been reading star signs for over 50 years. From Aries through to Pisces, here's what today could bring for your horoscope - and what you can do to be prepared. Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 20) If you're feeling bored, get involved with community activities. Find out what's going on around you. If you do find yourself volunteering for a charity, remember to keep it balanced. You are eager to be involved and to feel useful, but you don't want this to start taking over your life. Taurus (Apr 21 - May 21) Have faith in your abilities and let the world see what you are capable of. When you are at your charming best, people will respond positively to your plans and ideas. You have some great suggestions to make that even your competitors will be eating out of your hand. Gemini (May 22 - June 21) You're close to achieving a goal and that's because you've planned carefully and kept yourself focused on your intentions. It's now a great idea to start planning for your next one as this keeps you moving forward and prevents you from feeling stuck. Cancer (June 22 - July 23) A conversation will take an unexpectedly intense turn. Strive to be honest and straightforward as you express your own thoughts and feelings. If you make a promise, be sure to keep it. The old saying that actions speak louder than words will be true for you today. Leo (July 24 - Aug 23) Because you feel strongly about certain matters, you can come across as being a little too pushy and forceful. Let other people reach their own conclusions. Give them a chance to think, for not everyone grasps ideas as quickly as you. A big expense might dampen your excitement. Virgo (Aug 24 - Sept 23) It feels incredibly rewarding to realise that all the effort you've put in over the past few days has been worthwhile. You're on the brink of accomplishing something special. Now you're so close to achieving this goal, your mind is buzzing with new ideas that will keep you inspired. Libra (Sept 24 - Oct 23) Choose wisely when it comes to how you spend your time. You might feel torn between keeping to yourself or joining in with a new community project. You have skills that could come in useful in a group venture. This would be a practical use of your time. Scorpio (Oct 24 - Nov 22) Some turmoil in the home or workplace will take you by surprise. Someone who is usually quiet and keeps to the background will step forward to make some angry statements and demands. Things will settle down. Until then, be patient to keep the peace. Sagittarius (Nov 23 - Dec 21) A joint effort or community project is all set to conclude on a cheerful note. In contrast, your romantic life may not be as harmonious. Stay alert to any possible deceit regarding shared assets or belongings. Someone you had trusted has not been honest with you. Capricorn (Dec 22 - Jan 20) You don't have to spend a lot of money to find happiness. You have never demanded a lot for yourself. Spending time with friends, a leisurely walk around your neighbourhood or visiting an art gallery can provide all the entertainment you need today. Keep your bank card in your wallet. Aquarius (Jan 21 - Feb 19) Friendship activities remind you of how lucky you are to have so many good people in your life. You and a partner are talking about making a lasting commitment. You have several thoughts whirling around in your head and you may need some time alone to sort through your feelings. Pisces (Feb 20 - Mar 20) You're feeling exceedingly loving and generous. Treat someone special to a meal out at a favourite restaurant. Lend a hand to a friend who needs help with a tough problem. Sharing your own experiences can help make someone feel they aren't alone.
